[00:00:03.000]
Welcome to your training for Utah's online Public Library. Today we are exploring the new gale resource. I should say. Today we are exploring the new gale, health and wellness collection. Your collection of resources that you have available.

[00:00:19.000]
And my name is Tammi Burke. I'm a senior trainer at Gale, and I am your trainer for the State of Utah, so I'm excited to talk to you about the collection of resources that you have, that support, health and medicine or health and wellness. And I my goal today, for our training will be. We're going to focus on 3 of your health and medicine resources.

[00:00:43.000]
From Utah's online public library. But my goal is for you all to feel confident and comfortable.

[00:00:50.000]
With these resources.

[00:00:51.000]
Have a better understanding of not only content that's available, but tools and features, so that you feel comfortable.

[00:00:59.000]
Sharing them. So with your library patrons supporting health, related research, library or any community engagement. So that's my goal for you all today before you leave this training session.

[00:01:12.000]
So with that, let's look at our agenda.

[00:01:15.000]
We'll start with access. I always start with access.

[00:01:18.000]
Even, you know, when we're a year down the road, I always start with access to your resources, because.

[00:01:25.000]
We might have new folks that are joining the training sessions. And right now, with these resources being new, I wanna make sure that you have the links that you need to be successful at your library, so I'll share that access point with you all.

[00:01:37.000]
And then an overview of the gale resources that we are going to go through today. I'll also share with you. There's a few others in the one file product family. I just want you to be aware of.

[00:01:48.000]
But we are going to work through 2 of those today.

[00:01:53.000]
In that one file product, and then we again. I will be sharing content tools and features of those resources. And then any questions that you have feel free to ask at any time.

[00:02:04.000]
But I will stay on at the end of today's training to answer any additional questions you may have.

[00:02:09.000]
I'll also leave you with contact. Information, you know. Leave you with my contact information, but also you have one on one support and all things, Gale, and that is your Gale customer success manager. So I'll leave you with an email.

[00:02:24.000]
Inbox that you can send information to if you would like to get started or need help.

[00:02:28.000]
Getting the links on your website, or want to talk about access or eventually usage reports or walk through all the materials available on the support site. Your gale customer success. Managers are there to just for that. They are there to make sure that it is a huge success. Once you get rolling with your gale resources.

[00:02:47.000]
And can really help answer a lot of questions that you may have.

[00:02:51.000]
And they'll be your continued support moving forward so you'll always have your customer success manager available that you can reach out on her calendar to meet. All those options are available.

[00:03:06.000]
Hopefully, you are already aware of Utah's online Public Library page. I just want to point out, this is a great way to check messaging. This is where the announcement was made about the resources, too. But there's always new information being added here. So take a look at the website. What you'll find right now regarding your Gale resources is you can go to all resources and learn more about each individual one. So if you wanted to.

[00:03:31.000]
Take a look at.

[00:03:32.000]
One of the resources. We're talking about health today. But here's an example of business insights. It gives you. What they've done is a great job of providing you with a summary of that resource. So when you have that well.

[00:03:46.000]
What do I use when kind of question that you may have.

[00:03:49.000]
This is a great place to get started, because they've.

[00:03:52.000]
They've done a great job of organizing all the information into these individual links. So it is a really great place to get started. And then, if you want to jump into the resource to access it, all you need is your library card number. Now I do suggest using your direct Urls, and let me share with you where you can find that and that, using this as an access point.

[00:04:15.000]
It's completely up to you. If you've already have this in place, and you've been doing that, then please continue with whatever process you have in place, but I wanna share with you an option that you have available.

[00:04:27.000]
We've created a gale support page specifically for Utah's Online Public Library. The link is here, and I will also for those.

[00:04:36.000]
That are attending my live session today I am going to put that in the chat. So you have that link. This is a great one to bookmark.

[00:04:43.000]
Because not only does it provide you with your direct Urls, you can access all the training materials, marketing materials. All of the support you need is going to be found on this scale. Support site.

[00:04:56.000]
So when you click into that link, you'll have the ability to select your library name. Now, Utah's Online Public Library has asked that we have library and library systems. So that's what you're going to find available. If you're at a library branch, then look for your library system, and that's the link you're going to want to use.

[00:05:16.000]
Okay. What you'll also see is any upcoming? Webinars live here on the homepage, and we'll be continuously adding more. We're we're getting towards the end of our July sessions. We've done quite a few every week.

[00:05:28.000]
And then we are starting to look at planning for the fall and we'll probably have about one. A month is is our goal. There might be some months where, you know, we we might have more, we might have less. It just depends on what's happening. Or if there's a holiday sometimes that throws things off a little bit, too, but.

[00:05:47.000]
We'll be including like next week. We have the gale support site. I'll be walking through, and and I know at some point, you know at least give you 90 days with the resources, or or maybe into the fall a little bit, we'll want to cover the usage dashboard. So those are types of sessions we'll be adding, along with maybe a what to use one. And then, after you use the resources for a while, why not add in a advanced tips and tricks, and I get to show you all the.

[00:06:12.000]
Fun stuff in the resources, too. So those are things that we're talking about and hopefully planning in the near future.

[00:06:21.000]
So once you select your library name, what you'll find is.

[00:06:26.000]
All of your direct Urls, and these have the easy proxy built in. So how your patrons have been accessing the past, it will continue exactly the same. If you utilize these links. The nice thing is with these links now is that you are able to grab usage for your.

[00:06:46.000]
Library or your library system, where I don't believe you had that capability in the past to get that granular information where you can look at top searches, you can look at resources that are trending all kinds of great information. We have even have, like a word cloud that you can pull together. So if you have reports that you're pulling together, or you need to share this, you know. Your with your directors, or you are a director.

[00:07:11.000]
And you need to share this with your board. This is information that you can grab if you use your direct Urls.

[00:07:18.000]
Now they are all here. You can export the entire list.

[00:07:22.000]
Of all the links and add those links directly onto your library website. We also have mark records available.

[00:07:28.000]
So that's always also another feature that you can utilize.

[00:07:34.000]
For that discoverability.

[00:07:36.000]
Alright! Let's talk about your health and medicine resources that you have available.

[00:07:42.000]
The 1st one we're going to go into is Gale, health and wellness. Now, this one is more of that. This is really great for your public library patrons. We can consider this more of that consumer health approach to things.

[00:07:55.000]
So for better health begins at the library. That's we love to say about this resource, but it really is more of those general type questions. It's not.

[00:08:04.000]
2 folks. It's not too high level, as far as you know, looking at resources for medical professionals, we have something for those folks, too. So this is for your patrons that are coming into your library something that I would utilize. My parents would utilize even my kids, because of the type of content that you're going to find there.

[00:08:26.000]
You're going to find that this resource delivers content with benefits. It's an extensive collection of pertinent reference works like the Gal Encyclopedia of medicine. We also have the gal encyclopedia of alternative medicine. In this resource.

[00:08:39.000]
So it sets this essential resource apart from any free online health resources, because not only do you have great publications, but you have those encyclopedia of medicine and alternative medicine, just to name a few publications that are available.

[00:08:53.000]
Navigate with precision. You're going to find more than 75 topic portals that are available. So they're curated collections of information that pull together those multiple types of content like reference and magazine academic journals.

[00:09:10.000]
Journal articles, news and multimedia. There's all there's over 16,000 videos available within this resource.

[00:09:17.000]
So lots of great content. This also provides a comprehensive overview of each topic.

[00:09:23.000]
Guarantee health news from trusted sources.

[00:09:26.000]
Is what you'll find in gale health and wellness, both scholarly medical journals and general interest health magazines. These resources are perfect for researchers at all levels.

[00:09:36.000]
And then present information with audio and visual content. I already mentioned that you have.

[00:09:44.000]
Audio content. Available users can stream audio or download images to bring those health topics to life. So that's a 1st resource we're going to go into today.

[00:09:56.000]
The second one is health and medicine gale, one file. So it's in our one file product, family.

[00:10:01.000]
One file products are focused on periodical content. So where health and medicine had.

[00:10:08.000]
Periodical content and reference content. You'll find that in.

[00:10:12.000]
In your one file resources, but it's focused more on periodical content.

[00:10:16.000]
Health and wellness. The resource we had just mentioned has a lot more multimedia than you'll find in your one file resources. So Gale one file and medicine. This is geared more for our health professionals, our medical students nursing nursing folks and nursing students. You're going to find the one file product. Family is great for those. Even medical researchers.

[00:10:41.000]
So it's up to date information, the complete range of healthcare topics you're going to find here. There's more than 3,000 non-embargoed.

[00:10:48.000]
Full text periodicals, reference books, pamphlets, and so much more.

[00:10:53.000]
So that's 1 we're going to go into, and that skill, health, and medicine. And then we will also touch into Gale one file nursing and Allied health, so.

[00:11:03.000]
So for our nurses. This is a great resource for them to utilize.

[00:11:08.000]
Again. Great for our medical professionals. They can set up journalists, they can set up search alerts.

[00:11:16.000]
So why not connect your medical professionals to your library resources? And they don't have to pay for any of these subscriptions. And it's being. It's it's a lot of times you're they're going to find publications that they use every day that they may have to pay for

[00:11:30.000]
They don't have to do that if they utilize all their great tools at their public library. So if you're looking to promote, or you're looking for another idea for programming. This might be an area, an avenue you might want to take at your library.

[00:11:44.000]
So let's jump in and explore the resources. I'll talk a little bit more about each one as I dive into them to give you more information again. My goal is for you to.

[00:11:55.000]
Confident in sharing these with your patrons that are coming into your library or pulling them into your library.

[00:12:01.000]
So let me share that screen with you. First.st I am going to. Actually no, let's go right into product. I can cover the support site at the end of today's training.

[00:12:15.000]
There we go!

[00:12:16.000]
So we are. Make sure that we're sharing that screen.

[00:12:20.000]
There we go!

[00:12:21.000]
Gale health and wellness.

[00:12:24.000]
If you've been on any of my other sessions, you know the tools and features are the same across all your Gale resources. So I'm going to find all of my tools at the top, the ability to translate the text into over 34 languages. And this is translating my navigational tools.

[00:12:41.000]
Let me model that for you.

[00:12:43.000]
So if I wanted to go, let's do Italian. How fun is that.

[00:12:47.000]
If I wanted to change this to Italian.

[00:12:51.000]
You can see it changes my navigational tools and helps me work through the resource.

[00:12:56.000]
And this is separate than the document level translation. Our document level translation is actually at.

[00:13:05.000]
Over 50 languages.

[00:13:06.000]
I can sign in with Google or Microsoft. So I can immediately send any information I find directly to my Google Drive or Microsoft onedrive.

[00:13:15.000]
For teachers, and health and wellness is really a great one.

[00:13:18.000]
For K. 12, also for your counselors, because you have great information on stress and anxiety and depression, and things that students are dealing with with mental health.

[00:13:30.000]
But also for vis teachers.

[00:13:33.000]
You're going to find great content here. Available, too. So keep that in mind. If you're working with teachers, Google classroom is an option that is available. I am going to sign in with Google and.

[00:13:45.000]
Me do that real quick.

[00:13:50.000]
There we go. I was hoping that.

[00:13:54.000]
Cookies some information there for me.

[00:13:59.000]
When you're on your incognito window.

[00:14:02.000]
Doesn't always remember my stuff. So there we go. Okay. So I'm signed in with Google. You could see how easy that was. I could also do the same with Microsoft.

[00:14:11.000]
I have my basic search and advanced search here at the top.

[00:14:14.000]
And then I have my contextual toolbar. My contextual toolbar here will change one where I'm at within the resource depending on the tools I need. So if I'm at the document level, I'll see the citation tool here.

[00:14:27.000]
So that type of information will change.

[00:14:30.000]
We have scrolling topics of interest at the top of the page.

[00:14:36.000]
And then below, we have subject categories, and you can see topic pages. Or I had mentioned.

[00:14:45.000]
Now this resource, gale, health, and wellness offers that 24 7 access to full text medical journals, magazines, reference.

[00:14:54.000]
Multimedia, and much more. It's really perfect for researchers at all levels.

[00:14:59.000]
And and again, I can't stress enough. This is more of that comprehensive health resource.

[00:15:05.000]
So it really provides authoritative information on full on a full range of health, related issues.

[00:15:11.000]
From current disease and disorder, information to in-depth coverage of alternative medical practices.

[00:15:17.000]
So during this webinar we will be exploring content, and I'll be sharing with you best practices for putting this resource to work in your library.

[00:15:26.000]
We are going to 1st take a look at.

[00:15:30.000]
I have a couple different or searches. I want to do so. I could go into the category of mental health.

[00:15:42.000]
And maybe I am interested in taking a look at depression.

[00:15:49.000]
You can see I have an image and an essay overview.

[00:15:53.000]
On!

[00:15:54.000]
The on this page. These are all of my different content types that I have available. So quite a few.

[00:16:01.000]
Reference articles, but also magazines, 59 videos, available academic journals, images, audio files, and then related topics.

[00:16:10.000]
We have the ability to search within. So this information on depression has already been curated by our subject matter. Experts.

[00:16:19.000]
But I can also search within.

[00:16:21.000]
And really drill down and find exactly what I'm looking for.

[00:16:26.000]
Here.

[00:16:27.000]
Below.

[00:16:29.000]
I have reference magazine video images, available news. You can see they're organized in these boxes.

[00:16:37.000]
In our academic journals. If they're peer reviewed, I will see that little checkmark with Peer reviewed next to it in the summary.

[00:16:45.000]
And then below is related topics. So antidepressant drugs, anxiety, stress, are usually related to.

[00:16:52.000]
Depression.

[00:16:54.000]
So maybe I am looking for a good place to get started, too, is always that essay overview a couple of things I wanna point out. When I'm at the document level, you can see I have

[00:17:06.000]
Information about depression, types of depression.

[00:17:11.000]
Causes symptoms so nice organized information here, and an overview of this subject. I also have this explore panel on the right hand side, which this supplemental documents related, or articles could be images related to the document that I'm on, and you'll see this explore panel as I work through any of the.

[00:17:34.000]
Articles at that article I'll have those suggestions or related subjects again, are here.

[00:17:43.000]
Alright. Let me go back out to that main page.

[00:17:46.000]
Let's say, I wanted to share this we're doing. We're pulling in. We're talking about depression especially, you know. I'm.

[00:17:53.000]
I'm in Michigan, and it is seasonal depression is a big deal here.

[00:17:57.000]
We have, you know, somebody dark months in the winter. I'm looking at the sunshine today and appreciating it so much. We definitely appreciate our summers. But we there are months. We'll go weeks and weeks without seeing the sun, and that's to the point. Like Alaska. It's not like dark. It's just gloomy, right? So seasonal depression is something that we deal with here. So our libraries do focus on those types of topics and bring.

[00:18:23.000]
In all the resources that they have available, and they happen to bring in experts. And it's such a great tool to be able to go to your library and find this information, but folks can do some exploration at home if they have these links using the get link tool. If you wanted to pull this into your library programming. It's really easy to do. You just grab a link.

[00:18:43.000]
And post it wherever you're sharing this information, so you can easily pull this into your library. Or maybe you're creating a list of resources that you have. So not just.

[00:18:52.000]
Print resources or flyers or pamphlets. But maybe you're creating a clickable one sheet of all the information digitally that you have, or links to ebooks in your library. You can do that.

[00:19:04.000]
And you can do that from your databases. So keep that in mind as a tool, one of those best practices.

[00:19:10.000]
That you can use in your public library.

[00:19:15.000]
Alright. So we're looking at depression. And I mentioned seasonal depression. So let's do a search within.

[00:19:25.000]
And what happens is.

[00:19:28.000]
It filters everything down at once. Now let me show you. Let's say I'm gonna remove this filter.

[00:19:34.000]
Let's say I went directly into reference.

[00:19:37.000]
And I wanted to filter my results. I have subjects, publication type, and then search within is here too. So.

[00:19:45.000]
So I could type in seasonal depression at this point. But maybe I clicked into reference. I was doing some exploration. I'm like, okay, I really wanna find my information quickly. I know what I'm looking for.

[00:19:57.000]
I I don't want to browse. I wanna search now. I can use my subject area here. So again, anxiety, or maybe I want to find out more about depression and antidepressants.

[00:20:08.000]
Or drug interactions. I'm looking for bipolar disorder.

[00:20:13.000]
You can see there's a lot of topics that are available here where I can drill down my content.

[00:20:19.000]
So let's look at antidepressants and see what watch my search results.

[00:20:24.000]
So it filters down. There's 27 reference articles, but it also filtered down my magazines. Audio news.

[00:20:33.000]
So if you're let's say you're creating a link to the depression.

[00:20:37.000]
Portal, page or topic, page but then you also want to include one on antidepressants. You could do that now. I filtered it down, but I can grab another link.

[00:20:48.000]
And it'll take users right back to this information. I can even do that at the document level. So I'll click into this.

[00:20:55.000]
And it tells me a little bit about this drug.

[00:20:59.000]
That's available.

[00:21:00.000]
Recommended dosage. Probably I'm guessing side effects.

[00:21:03.000]
Some key terms here.

[00:21:05.000]
And I can grab a link directly to now.

[00:21:09.000]
I don't know that you would want to grab links directly to a certain medication. But I could see a medical professional wanting to do that.

[00:21:18.000]
Right.

[00:21:19.000]
So, and having this opportunity to put this in a in context for your.

[00:21:25.000]
Patrons are for their patients a better understanding rather than just going to the open web. Here is authoritative content.

[00:21:33.000]
That they're getting directly from the Gale Encyclopedia of prescription drugs. So you can see that publication information there. But I don't know. Maybe that.

[00:21:42.000]
You know, this is just an example where you can grab a link directly to an individual document.

[00:21:47.000]
So at the library you might be more interested in if I remove antidepressants, maybe.

[00:21:54.000]
I would want to stick to a different subject.

[00:21:57.000]
Like.

[00:21:59.000]
Let's.

[00:22:00.000]
Code, bipolar.

[00:22:01.000]
So maybe depression and bipolar disorder. And I specifically want to look at those mood disorders.

[00:22:08.000]
And that's something I might want to link out at that document level.

[00:22:12.000]
Okay, so that tool lives in my contextual toolbar.

[00:22:16.000]
It did right from the homepage. It's always there.

[00:22:18.000]
And I can grab a link at any time that I need to.

[00:22:22.000]
Alright, I'm gonna do an advanced search.

[00:22:26.000]
So I don't have to go back to the homepage. If I want to do an advanced search, I can just click on advanced search.

[00:22:31.000]
And it'll open up this tool. Few things I want to point out that you have available. You have advanced search, you have subject, guide, search, publication, search and topic.

[00:22:42.000]
Topic finder is a visual representation of your search results. And it's interactive.

[00:22:47.000]
So let's look at advanced search, and then I want to go into the next resource. So a couple things I can do here. I have some the ability to put in search terms. I can change the field. I have.

[00:23:00.000]
Some assistance, understanding operators and special characters. So if I open up, say, quotation marks, gives me information on a quotation mark, and gives me examples.

[00:23:11.000]
And then I have some research limits that I can utilize, including document, type, publication, title, publication subject. I'll come back to this in a moment.

[00:23:20.000]
Let's 1st do a search on.

[00:23:25.000]
We're talking about depression.

[00:23:28.000]
And I want the subject. So Keyword is going to look, and you can see here what it tells you. It's going to look at the terms and the key fields like the title. It's going to look at the 100 to 200 words and not search through the entire document. But I can choose entire document, or I can put this as a subject. So if I want depression and.

[00:23:49.000]
Exercise.

[00:23:51.000]
And again, I want this as a.

[00:23:54.000]
So well, let's do entire document for this one.

[00:23:57.000]
And click, search.

[00:24:00.000]
It will take me to all that content. And then I even have some suggested topic pages so teens and depressions. So maybe you're working with teens.

[00:24:10.000]
In your library.

[00:24:12.000]
Which I know you all do. This might be a good one to highlight, too, if you know that students are, you're looking at mental health and and supporting the teens that are coming into your library. This is a safe place for them to do some exploration, too. It's not like they have to carry anything around that people can see. They can come in and access this right from their cell phone if they want to.

[00:24:31.000]
So. And again, it's not just the open web they're getting.

[00:24:34.000]
Authoritative, content, here.

[00:24:38.000]
So I just wanted to share with you what it looks like when you do an advanced search.

[00:24:41.000]
Let me go back to advanced search.

[00:24:45.000]
And this time I'm going to go to a content type. Make sure that cleared out. It did.

[00:24:51.000]
I want to go to all my videos and click search.

[00:24:54.000]
Now we have over 16,000 videos. But maybe I'm looking specifically for.

[00:24:59.000]
Knee, replacement.

[00:25:02.000]
And I want I need more information, because this is something that is in my.

[00:25:06.000]
Future, not mine personally, but maybe it is.

[00:25:10.000]
And I want some video content, some understanding of it. A little bit more. I need the visual. I'm a visual learner. I need more information. Here's some even about preventing knee replacement, surgery.

[00:25:22.000]
Walks. My doctor was just talking to me about this weight bearing exercise. I need more weight bearing, exercise, so.

[00:25:30.000]
I like to

[00:25:32.000]
Spin using a peloton, and that apparently is not enough weight bearing exercise. So I have to start.

[00:25:36.000]
Walking and running, and.

[00:25:38.000]
I lift lightweight, so I need to do a little bit more of that. But that for me.

[00:25:44.000]
Very important. I can just see right from the opening. Okay, that's what I need to do. That's why she's telling me that. And this is a resource I could come into after talking to my doctor and be like, Okay.

[00:25:53.000]
I'm dealing with this. This is what she said. Where can I find more information about it? And that was a quick way to do that. I clicked into video and I just clicked me replacement. And look at all this content. I'm receiving.

[00:26:04.000]
And all of our videos have closed captioning available, and the transcript.

[00:26:10.000]
And not only that, but if I wanted to use a tool to support accessibility.

[00:26:16.000]
50 after 50. That sounds skew. There we go.

[00:26:19.000]
It is in English, our closed captioning, but the transcript is here below. If I wanted to translate the transcript, I have that translate feature.

[00:26:29.000]
So all of these tools to support accessibility are available. Translate the ability to decrease or increase the font size.

[00:26:36.000]
Display options and the listen feature I'll touch into these.

[00:26:40.000]
In the next resource. But translate, you can translate that.

[00:26:44.000]
Transcript. It won't translate the closed captioning, but at least you could translate the transcript.

[00:26:50.000]
Okay, alright. So let's go into our next resource. Let me know if you have any questions. The next one we're going to go into.

[00:26:58.000]
And I'm using the product menu to jump between the product menu lives.

[00:27:03.000]
In this upper left hand corner you see library, menu.

[00:27:07.000]
If I click on view product menu.

[00:27:09.000]
It's going to open up.

[00:27:10.000]
This.

[00:27:11.000]
Actually, it'll take me to this spot. All databases.

[00:27:16.000]
And you can see all the databases that you have available from Gale.

[00:27:20.000]
I am now going into periodicals because I want my one file.

[00:27:24.000]
Gale, one File, Health and Medicine.

[00:27:27.000]
And a few others I want to point out before I go into health and medicine.

[00:27:31.000]
So we have health and medicine is here. You also have available within the resource. I'm gonna scroll down here. I mentioned nursing and Allied health.

[00:27:42.000]
You have physical therapy and sports medicine, and you have psychology. So these kind of round out that health collection that you have available. You have not going to go into every one file. Just the content is going to be, of course, slightly different. This one focusing on physical therapy and sports medicine where this one's psychology. So but the the format is going to be the same. So the content is going to be different.

[00:28:06.000]
So let me show you some tools and features that you're going to find in health and medicine and talk to you about this resource a little bit more. Now again, this one is great for your.

[00:28:15.000]
Medical professionals, your health researchers, your medical students.

[00:28:21.000]
Anybody in healthcare. And I'm gonna use an example for you. So I have an my wonderful aunt that lives in Florida.

[00:28:27.000]
Has always been in the medical field in some way, shape or form, and so she has this great base knowledge right? And she owns a in.

[00:28:37.000]
In in home healthcare agency. So where caregivers and cnas come into the into the homes, and it's Florida. So you've got a lot of senior citizens down there that need that support right, but want to stay in their homes. And that's where she comes into play.

[00:28:50.000]
Well, so this is a resource, and they do have it in Florida. And I was telling her about it where she needed to do additional research. Originally she was using it for her patients that that she was working with and sharing it with.

[00:29:04.000]
Her caregivers that work for the company, but now she needs it for her own, because my uncle was diagnosed with dementia, and so she's been doing some research on Louis body disease. And in this resource why, I say it's so great for not just those types of situations.

[00:29:19.000]
But for medical professionals is because it is being updated every day throughout the day, and medical professionals. I know they have great resources, of course, that they have access to, but they can also utilize what's at their public library, too.

[00:29:33.000]
And again get this delivered directly to them. So let me show you what that looks like. So, since we talked about that, I shared a little bit of. I always like to try to share a story so that you can, you know, make that connection and and see that relation.

[00:29:49.000]
I'm gonna we're gonna stick with the topic of dementia. So I'm just going to put in a search of dementia. Actually, before I do that search. It's just a basic search. I want to show you topic finder in case you're not.

[00:30:00.000]
I'm familiar with topic finder.

[00:30:02.000]
So if I were to put in the term dementia.

[00:30:07.000]
This is visual and interactive.

[00:30:09.000]
So visual representation of your search results.

[00:30:12.000]
It's looking at those keywords. Remember an advanced search, I said. Keywords are looking at the titles. They're looking at the 100 to 200 words.

[00:30:21.000]
Same idea. It's just pulling it into this visual tool.

[00:30:25.000]
And you have 2 visualizations available. You have the tiles which are default, it defaults to, but you can change it to the wheel.

[00:30:33.000]
If you prefer the wheel.

[00:30:37.000]
So, looking at drug administration, United States, I could look at medical research.

[00:30:43.000]
This is where I'm interested, because I want to know if anything new.

[00:30:47.000]
Is happening.

[00:30:49.000]
And you can see as I click it.

[00:30:52.000]
Drills down, it finds 47 different articles.

[00:30:55.000]
I can then select again. Let's take a look at food.

[00:31:00.000]
And it takes me to 4 different documents that I have available.

[00:31:04.000]
There's Eli Lilly's, Alzheimer's drug.

[00:31:07.000]
Maybe I wanna change it to risk factors.

[00:31:14.000]
Okay.

[00:31:15.000]
So.

[00:31:16.000]
It's a i can reset this and go back to the full tiles and click into another area dementia something my aunt is interested in and finding out more information there. There's medication there also. Support. Caregivers need support.

[00:31:30.000]
And these resources, you know, for those caregivers that health and wellness resources, a great tool.

[00:31:36.000]
For them or with folks that and this like, I said, I've been saying medical professionals or medical students, but also those that have.

[00:31:44.000]
A medical background like my aunt. She's never been a work as a nurse or as a doctor, but has that higher level understanding. This is a great resource that I would suggest for her.

[00:31:56.000]
Okay.

[00:31:57.000]
So let's go back out to.

[00:32:01.000]
Do a basic search. So I just want to show you topic finder. Now, let's do a basic search.

[00:32:06.000]
Search sticking with dementia. Please let me know if you have any questions.

[00:32:10.000]
Going to select that using my search, and you can see it takes me to all of that content. So we don't have in health and wellness. We had those portal pages or topic pages right? But in our this one file product it takes us directly into the content. So you can see where this is great for our students and our also our.

[00:32:34.000]
Researchers, and those with that better understanding of some of these medical terms that we're going to find here takes us also, 1st directly to our academic journals.

[00:32:44.000]
And you can see all the content I have available academic journals, magazines, books, and we do have videos available.

[00:32:53.000]
Now, what I could do here is if I wanted all the up to date information on dementia.

[00:32:59.000]
New information is added, or I would like to set an alert.

[00:33:02.000]
To get emails sent over to me. When you know I have that content available, I can do that whenever you do a basic search or advance search, you'll see. Search, alert, pop up here in your one file resources.

[00:33:16.000]
So I can schedule that search alert.

[00:33:21.000]
I can have it sent directly to my email. I can choose how often I would like to receive it. What format I would like to receive it in, and I can create that alert.

[00:33:30.000]
Or.

[00:33:32.000]
I have the rss, feed option.

[00:33:34.000]
So if I would like to have this in my browser.

[00:33:38.000]
I just copy and paste this, and I'll have that Rs feed option, and then I'll get a little notification that something new's been added.

[00:33:46.000]
Now I was talking to you about using your filters, too.

[00:33:50.000]
So searching within is an option I would use. I could also check in my subjects to see. Maybe I might have.

[00:33:58.000]
Nope. We didn't have anything there, and Louis in academic journals which.

[00:34:03.000]
It didn't pop up, which surprises me because I know there is search within. Let me try again.

[00:34:13.000]
So I Louis.

[00:34:16.000]
Is the type of dementia.

[00:34:18.000]
That I'm focusing on today, academic journals, magazines, books, news and and images. And you can see academic journals.

[00:34:27.000]
June 24th academic journals.

[00:34:29.000]
Sometimes they're monthly, sometimes they're quarterly or annually, so you might see a little bit more of

[00:34:38.000]
A break between. You know that it's some of it might be embargo, but some of it's just. There's not. They don't publish that as often right. The publications don't come out as often. You're familiar with this. I don't have to share this with you, but the nice thing is with any of your content. You're always receiving it in HTML format.

[00:34:55.000]
So I don't have to worry about is this HTML, is this a Pdf.

[00:35:00.000]
I have that consistency, and this is across all of your gale. Resources.

[00:35:04.000]
So this is academic journals. The I have. It's relevance. Right now. I can switch it to newest.

[00:35:10.000]
And see, so I would prefer to stay with relevant.

[00:35:16.000]
Because, especially in academic journals, newspaper magazines, I might want to change it to newest. But sometimes that relevance really is pulling the ones that the content that I'm going to be most interested in, based on dementia and louis body disease to the top of my list. So I make the resource work for me.

[00:35:34.000]
And that's why it's default. That sort by is defaulted that way.

[00:35:39.000]
Magazine articles, so I can see.

[00:35:43.000]
It's moving a little slow here.

[00:35:46.000]
Oh, no, it changed. Okay. Magazine articles. You can see.

[00:35:51.000]
Long-term Care news.

[00:35:53.000]
Where these are coming from. We're a global company, too. So you'll find information from around the world. We publish a lot of our own content. But we also work with publishers globally. So you'll see different content like that. So it's not just limited to.

[00:36:11.000]
What's in the Us. We're getting information from around the world. Mayo Clinic Information Library.

[00:36:16.000]
Targeted news science. So, and you can see July 9.th So that was just.

[00:36:21.000]
Just this.

[00:36:24.000]
Last week.

[00:36:26.000]
We've got some new information. So those search alerts would be really helpful to set up.

[00:36:30.000]
Within this resource.

[00:36:33.000]
Okay? Oh, a few other things. Let me go into a document.

[00:36:36.000]
I do want to cover the tools I talked about.

[00:36:39.000]
Translating the text.

[00:36:40.000]
Briefly, but you can translate the text into over 50 languages.

[00:36:46.000]
I can increase that font size, or decrease it.

[00:36:49.000]
Display options. I have the ability to change the color behind the text, so I can really meet the varying needs of my users.

[00:36:58.000]
This is again across all my Gale resources.

[00:37:01.000]
This feature that I'm setting up now I'm gonna change it to the font of open dyslexic, and then I can increase my line letter and wordpacing.

[00:37:10.000]
So this feature I'm using now will stick with me throughout my.

[00:37:14.000]
So if I go into another article, this feature, I've already set it up on my 1st article. It'll stick with me throughout. So that's a nice feature to have available.

[00:37:25.000]
To remove those. I just open that box back up and click back to default settings.

[00:37:31.000]
And then I have the listen feature available, so I can listen to the text being read aloud.

[00:37:36.000]
Now let me make sure this is not okay.

[00:37:39.000]
It's going to start highlighting, you should be able to hear it. I turn the audio on.

[00:37:45.000]
This.

[00:37:46.000]
Listen, was just updated.

[00:37:47.000]
Making unkapering dementia, friendly.

[00:37:51.000]
Concaporinga, the city of Oncoparinga, has issued the following news, release.

[00:37:54.000]
She does pretty good job on pronouncing that, doesn't she?

[00:37:56.000]
Colin Martin was diagnosed with.

[00:37:58.000]
Okay? So you can see it's highlighting the sentence and the word.

[00:38:02.000]
Now there's some features here.

[00:38:04.000]
And this is great to share with your public library patrons. You do have some settings available. The biggest one I like to point out, is the ability to enlarge the text.

[00:38:14.000]
And we can enlarge the text here on the screen. But if I want to listen.

[00:38:19.000]
And have the text enlarge.

[00:38:22.000]
Great again to meet those varying needs. I can click play. So I just turned it on.

[00:38:28.000]
Click, play.

[00:38:30.000]
With dementia. 5 years ago.

[00:38:33.000]
His wife.

[00:38:34.000]
It pulls out that text onto the page.

[00:38:35.000]
Martin is now his full-time carer.

[00:38:38.000]
So you can see it's the still. The sentence.

[00:38:40.000]
And the word are being highlighted, and I can even increase.

[00:38:44.000]
This option, too, as it's being read aloud to me.

[00:38:48.000]
A few other features under the settings.

[00:38:53.000]
I have the ability to change what's being highlighted.

[00:38:56.000]
Oops!

[00:38:57.000]
Wow! That really bumped me off. There we go!

[00:39:00.000]
Me go back.

[00:39:04.000]
Oh, listen!

[00:39:06.000]
Drew blank settings.

[00:39:08.000]
Okay, I have the ability to.

[00:39:13.000]
The automatic scrolling makes the page move down.

[00:39:16.000]
It jumps down the page.

[00:39:18.000]
That's defaulted to on.

[00:39:20.000]
The pop-up black button. What that is is. If I highlight I drag over any portion of my text.

[00:39:28.000]
Then I have that pop up button that'll show up to just listen to it. So if it's something that a user is.

[00:39:35.000]
Utilizing. Often they might want to turn that on.

[00:39:39.000]
I have shortcuts available for my keyboard.

[00:39:43.000]
And then I can restore any options that I've changed or done at the top. Here I have the ability to change the speed so.

[00:39:52.000]
So this is really helpful if I want to slow it down. For this type of information, especially in health and wellness, I may want to do that.

[00:40:02.000]
So that's at the top. That's that little timer.

[00:40:03.000]
Icon. I can slow that speed down.

[00:40:07.000]
These other features here are for this text box.

[00:40:11.000]
So. But these 2 the volume and the speed are for.

[00:40:17.000]
The.

[00:40:18.000]
Box that you know the text box at the bottom of my page where these ones are. I'll show you. See.

[00:40:23.000]
There!

[00:40:24.000]
They're controlling what I'm seeing in my settings box.

[00:40:28.000]
Okay.

[00:40:29.000]
Alright!

[00:40:31.000]
So just wanted to point those out. And you have the ability to download this as an Mp. 3.

[00:40:36.000]
Something else I can do with any of my articles is send them to Google Microsoft email or print. So if I'd like to download them as a Pdf, I have that option available, and again, we already are here listed. You have it in HTML format. Always.

[00:40:50.000]
So you have both features available, not one or the other.

[00:40:54.000]
You always have both.

[00:40:56.000]
Okay, if I wanted to send this, let's say I'm reading this article. I get down to this point. And I think, Oh, yeah, this is a great one. I want to send it. I actually want to share it with my doctor. What can I do? I can send it to Google onedrive. I could email it.

[00:41:10.000]
If I wanted to email it to my medical and share this information.

[00:41:14.000]
Just something my aunt would do.

[00:41:17.000]
I could print it off.

[00:41:18.000]
Which is something I might want to do. I definitely would want to send it somewhere. I can download it.

[00:41:24.000]
My citations are automatically attached to every single document. It is defaulted to Emily. 9th Edition. We also have Apa. Chicago and Harvard. They're at the bottom here, and I can change that format before I send it.

[00:41:37.000]
So for our researchers or our students, I have that option available. So let's say, I want to change it to Apa and then send it to my Google drive. I can. And it'll turn it into a Google Doc.

[00:41:48.000]
Or I'd like to export it. I have that option available, or I just need the citation.

[00:41:54.000]
I can just click on that citation tool, and I have all those features available. If you noticed.

[00:41:59.000]
It changed it to Apa, cause I changed it at the bottom of the document.

[00:42:03.000]
It changed it to Apa. Here also.

[00:42:07.000]
Which is a great feature.

[00:42:09.000]
Okay, so we talked about tools to support accessibility. Item, I wanted to talk to you about more towards the end of our time is highlights and notes. So if I wanted to mark up this document, which is something that your medical professionals would probably want to do, or your students.

[00:42:25.000]
They could highlight.

[00:42:27.000]
Add any notes.

[00:42:29.000]
Save this and then send it to their Google drive. What also happens is highlights. The notes here is being built out.

[00:42:39.000]
And this is session based. So.

[00:42:41.000]
Best practice. Always send your entire document somewhere, so you have it. You have it marked up.

[00:42:46.000]
The chunks of text you've highlighted will live below like I send it to Google. Drive underneath my citation. I'll have this purple chunk of text, and any notes I've taken will live below my citation, and still be highlighted within the article.

[00:43:02.000]
This is a separate section.

[00:43:04.000]
Where I can just grab my highlights and notes, and the same features are available. Sending, downloading, printing are all available here, too.

[00:43:14.000]
Okay, I can even edit my notes.

[00:43:18.000]
We're right. Towards the end of our time. The only other resource I wanted to touch into was nursing and Allied health.

[00:43:25.000]
And if you notice, very similar to what we were previously in, the only thing I want to share with you real quick. Of course the content is focused more on nursing.

[00:43:35.000]
