So I'll share that at the end. Gale one file business. Let's talk a little bit about this resource.

[00:02:52.000]
Again, as I mentioned, great for your periodical content, academic journals, magazines, newspapers.

[00:02:59.000]
You will find some multimedia like images of videos, available within this resource and then some content is coming from our reference.

[00:03:04.000]
Collections. So you will see where it says books that's coming from our reference collections.

[00:03:14.000]
But this resource is a comprehensive business resource. It's great for company news up to date company news.

[00:03:21.000]
This is being updated every day throughout the day. We're making or making personal investment decisions. One of my searches is on cryptocurrency.

[00:03:29.000]
So if you have anyone. Or no patrons that are coming into your library that are that is their interest especially lately things are we're climbing, quite regularly just recently.

[00:03:37.000]
It's interesting to look into this resource and find that up-to-date information rather than going to the web because in your Gale resources it's authoritative.

[00:03:50.000]
Content that you're finding here. And then for our students majoring in business or in business administration, entrepreneurship, you'll find great content within this resource.

[00:04:02.000]
It does provide full-text coverage of all business disciplines, including accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management, and strategy, as well as business theory and practices.

[00:04:15.000]
You'll find content on the activities of companies and industries worldwide. With nearly 4,000 business and trade publications that are updated daily.

[00:04:24.000]
For And then again, as I mentioned, this is not just for the US, it's international and you'll also find regional news publications with in this resource.

[00:04:35.000]
So with that, let's go into Gale one file business. Again, please let me know if you have any questions.

[00:04:42.000]
I will also be sharing at the end of today's session. I created a document. That is great for your library, your reference desk, wherever you're working with small business owners.

[00:04:54.000]
Maybe you have a group that's coming in and I know I was working. With Austin Public Libraries a while back and they have a great business group that comes in.

[00:04:58.000]
So this I created a document. It's just a one page about the 3 business resources. I wanted to share it during part 3 of our business series, but it does live on the Gale support site for that we've created for tech share.

[00:05:19.000]
So I'll share all of that with you in today's training and then those watching the recording will have that information also.

[00:05:26.000]
And then again, of course, for a higher ed, it's a great document to share with faculty members.

[00:05:29.000]
Because it's a one-pager and you have, you know, information on there about each of those resources that we've talked about in our 3 part series.

[00:05:39.000]
Okay, so let's get to searching. So we have. And our one file resources, there's a couple unique tools to one file as compared to your in context.

[00:05:50.000]
Resources that you have. We have the ability to create search alerts and journal alerts within our one file product family.

[00:05:58.000]
But on the homepage you're going to see we do have topic finder which is a visual representation of your search results.

[00:06:04.000]
We have subject guide search and publications. Now all 3 of these also live under advanced search. So if you've done a basic search and you don't want to come back to the homepage, you can quickly click on advanced search.

[00:06:17.000]
It's always by our basic search bar here and access any of these other browsing functionalities that we have our searching functionalities we have here within the resource.

[00:06:28.000]
Now I did already sign in to Google, but you have the ability to sign in with both Google and Microsoft in the top banner here.

[00:06:36.000]
If I were a teacher at the high school, you know, Google classrooms use more at the high school level, I can use Google Classroom, pull this content directly into my classroom and share it with students.

[00:06:44.000]
I also have the ability to translate the navigational tools into over 34 languages. Now this changes the.

[00:06:59.000]
The language on the interface is separate then when you're translating a document. So I'll talk more about those tools to support accessibility once we dive into some of these documents.

[00:07:09.000]
So let's start a basic search on a company. And I'm going to use. A big one that I like to use.

[00:07:16.000]
There's a couple I always like to use and Apple is definitely one of them and I will say It helps to get the right information if you put Apple incorporated or Apple, INC.

[00:07:28.000]
Search assist did give me some help here so I'm just going to click on that. And it will pull up all of my content.

[00:07:35.000]
So it takes me right into academic journals first and you can see I have the ability to sort by, I can sort by relevance or I can sort by newest or oldest.

[00:07:47.000]
If they are peer reviewed, you will see that checkmark here in the summary with the peer reviewed title.

[00:07:48.000]
So we if we do have and we have quite a few peer reviewed articles you'll see that here.

[00:07:58.000]
We also have magazines.

[00:08:03.000]
Books. Now remember I said we're this these resources one file resources are heavy with our periodical content but you will find some reference books available.

[00:08:07.000]
Or articles or documents I should say from reference books. We have news articles. And then this search result has some video content also available.

[00:08:26.000]
We can filter down our results on the right hand side, just some functionality here if you're looking for publication date and maybe I want everything from the past year or Like I was talking about cryptocurrency, we're going to take a look at more recent like within the past month past week past month we might be needing that up to date information pretty regularly.

[00:08:48.000]
The nice thing is, is I can filter to that. I can filter to specific subjects if I wanted to.

[00:08:56.000]
Multi-select any document types.

[00:09:01.000]
If I'm looking for certain publication titles, I can multi select those or just select one or simply search within all of my results.

[00:09:05.000]
For a certain term. I do have full text documents is automatically defaulted and checked for me, but if I just wanted peer review journals, I could select that or if I need was needing images I can use that.

[00:09:22.000]
Filter option too. Now in the upper right, you do have the ability to create a search alert.

[00:09:29.000]
So let's say I am. Let's, let me stick with where I'm at first.

[00:09:32.000]
So let me go into an article and then I'll go into cryptocurrency as an example for the next one.

[00:09:40.000]
So if I were looking for business. Specifically news on a company. So company news. I could look in academic journals or I might wanna look into my news articles and this in in this area I may want to filter by certain publication titles.

[00:09:58.000]
If there's maybe I'm interested in business wire, I want the New York Times. Let me see.

[00:10:09.000]
Click on another one. I'll do PR news. And I'm looking for.

[00:10:16.000]
Okay, so let's just stick with those 3 and I'm going to filter down my content and apply that

[00:10:24.000]
And it does because I selected publication titles that were news publications. It filtered all of my results and now I'm just seeing information coming from my newspapers.

[00:10:35.000]
So if I wanted to remove that publication title, I would have everything. Magazines, academic journals would all come back into my search results.

[00:10:46.000]
So here it's an article from January. Fifth. So a couple months ago, but something happened most recently when we're talking about Apple Incorporated.

[00:10:58.000]
And you can see in the title, quite a large title we have there. But below is this is from PR News Wire.

[00:11:04.000]
We have the article, here's information about the different companies including Apple.

[00:11:11.000]
Key trends, major challenges, market segmentation. Related reports we're seeing in this one singular article.

[00:11:22.000]
What I also really enjoy about our search results is we have this explore panel. So the Explorer panel will provide you with additional or supplemental information based on the article that I'm currently on.

[00:11:37.000]
So I can jump to another article and continue my research, continue my exploration, or continue my reading.

[00:11:39.000]
It might be something where a professor has assigned to me the task of 3 different articles. So this is a really helpful tool for our students to access that information and find additional information.

[00:12:00.000]
Okay, so let me go back. So that was just if I were to do I just did a quick business search on Apple Incorporated so you could see all of the content that we have available.

[00:12:11.000]
Now, let's change gears and maybe I'm an investor. Coming into the library.

[00:12:15.000]
I want some information. Or again, this could be very well taught in class because crypto is something that folks are.

[00:12:24.000]
Are interested in learning about and the. Pluses and minuses of that also. So I have some investors in my household that crypto is in their constantly looking for any information they can on this topic or specific specifics like Bitcoin if they're looking for information on that or any of the others.

[00:12:48.000]
So you when you're looking for that accurate information, utilizing your resources that you have from the library can be a really helpful tool and something that you can do is set up some of these filters like if I want publication dates from the past year past week past month I can I can use my filters or if I'm looking for a certain subjects like I'm just going to select cryptocurrencies.

[00:13:14.000]
At this point, if I wanted to create a search alert, so I'm notified anytime any information is added and I can use more filters too if I wanted to search within for a certain term.

[00:13:26.000]
I could use more filters and I'm gonna try one right now. Let's see.

[00:13:34.000]
Oops.

[00:13:37.000]
Let's see what we have. Okay, so let's say I have a specific cryptocurrency that I want information on.

[00:13:43.000]
Now I could have done this as a basic search also, but let's say I'm going this path.

[00:13:48.000]
What I can do is I can set up a search alert. So anytime any information comes in on this.

[00:13:55.000]
These 2 subjects. So I have a subject and I'm searching through the entire document for a specific term.

[00:14:00.000]
I can set up a search alert. And I can have that sent directly to my email or I can set it up as an RSS feed.

[00:14:08.000]
And you can choose how often you want to receive that email. Is it daily or would you prefer monthly?

[00:14:13.000]
When it comes to investing, you may want more current and frequent information. So setting that up daily could be really helpful.

[00:14:21.000]
And then like I said, you also have that RSS feed if you want to put that into your browser, here's the link.

[00:14:27.000]
And you can set this up for any type of search that you've done within your one file business resource.

[00:14:34.000]
So, or any of our one file resources. You have that ability to set up those great search alerts so that you're notified when new information is added.

[00:14:39.000]
Very helpful when you're looking at news or magazines. And you're getting, again, a clear picture from all different areas.

[00:14:50.000]
So you're getting the best information. That's available. Speaking of information that's available, we do have multiple publications that are feeding into this resource.

[00:15:02.000]
And let me talk to you about publication searches. So as I mentioned, the subject guide search, the publication, the topic finder, all live under advanced search and they were on the homepage.

[00:15:13.000]
When I anytime I want to go back to the homepage I can click into the banner.

[00:15:17.000]
But let's say at this point I want to jump to that information so I'm going to go directly to advanced search.

[00:15:23.000]
I'm going to go into my publication search.

[00:15:29.000]
Now I can list all publications, but I'm looking for a certain specific ones or I can I have some pre search limiters here that I can set up if I just want publications with full text or peer reviewed.

[00:15:38.000]
If there's a certain format that I'm looking for, I have that option of available. Publication dates, country or territory of publication, and then language of publications.

[00:15:52.000]
Now, we can translate all of our documents into over 50 languages. But I may want a publication, say, directly from Portugal.

[00:16:03.000]
So I could do that. I could find that information here or I could use in form a academical, which is another resource that you have available.

[00:16:08.000]
For those Spanish or Portuguese publications. But just an example, if I'm looking for a specific language of publication.

[00:16:20.000]
Now, today I'm going to search for One that's very popular is the economist.

[00:16:27.000]
And what I like to do here is I have the economist Once I select it, I can see the most recent volume.

[00:16:36.000]
Or the most recent publication here I should say. March, the sixth is the most recent. And what I can do also is like a search alert, I can set up a journal alert.

[00:16:43.000]
So every time a new journal is added, I can have a notification. And go that email will give me a link I can come right into this publication.

[00:17:01.000]
Or I can look at the post from March sixth. And here is all of that publication information. At this point, if I wanted to drill information from within this publication down, I can use the.

[00:17:15.000]
Filter your results or quickly search within looking for a specific term and it'll filter down everything for me.

[00:17:22.000]
But the nice thing is, is I will automatically get that journal alert in my inbox. And and I can come directly into this.

[00:17:31.000]
This publication and take a look at the most recent posts.

[00:17:37.000]
All right, so let's look at tools. To support accessibility. We talked about. Well, what before we do, let's do one more thing and let's look at topic Finder.

[00:17:48.000]
I'm looking at the time. I think we're good here. So we are talking about different search options.

[00:17:53.000]
Let's talk about the last one and then we'll go into some specific articles. If I go back to my advanced search, I was in publication search.

[00:18:04.000]
Now I'm going to go to Topic Finder.

[00:18:09.000]
In topic finder, this is an option to do some searching and it's visual. It's interactive.

[00:18:12.000]
It's a great tool. A lot of our users really enjoy this tool. Maybe I'm looking for information on coffee shops.

[00:18:23.000]
Something I'm interested in possibly opening.

[00:18:28.000]
You can see it pulls back my search results. I have 2 visualization options, the tile or the wheel.

[00:18:38.000]
It's completely up to your users. And this is looking at. Keywords. So top hits the first 100 words of these articles.

[00:18:47.000]
It's looking for coffee shop. And anything in that related to. So you can see here. Here's coffee shop startup experts.

[00:18:56.000]
Here's information on the coffee industry. So if I were to select and let me select this first one.

[00:19:05.000]
When I select the tile, it drills down and I'm finding content. I can drill down that subject also.

[00:19:09.000]
So looking at those key words when I selected coffee shops, this is what I'm seeing in my results.

[00:19:18.000]
If I wanted to reset that, I have the reset option at the bottom or you can just scroll on your mouse and it'll reset it too.

[00:19:26.000]
Maybe I'm interested in the coffee industry. I want more of that type of information. Looking at the market.

[00:19:33.000]
The right hand side I have all of my search results.

[00:19:39.000]
Here's one coffee. Global coffee shops market to reach 200. Over 200 billion by 2,027.

[00:19:45.000]
Let's take a look at that article. And all I do is quickly click on the article and it takes me right in.

[00:19:51.000]
So it's visual, it's interactive. Again, here's an article I found.

[00:19:56.000]
Here's more like this. I even have related subjects below like Starbucks that would be a good search business to search to.

[00:20:04.000]
So now that we're at the article level, let me talk to you about some of the tools that you have to support accessibility.

[00:20:10.000]
You do have the ability to translate the article into over 50 languages by just clicking on the little translate icon.

[00:20:17.000]
I can decree or increase the font size. I can change my display options. The color behind the text.

[00:20:26.000]
Maybe I need open dyslexic and I need to increase my line letter and word spacing. The nice thing is, is this will stick with me throughout my session.

[00:20:35.000]
So if I go back to topic, finder.

[00:20:39.000]
And click into another article. You can see it sticks with me. So once I set it up, it stays with me the whole time.

[00:20:47.000]
To remove it, I just opened that box back up, back to default settings. It'll clear when I leave my session.

[00:20:55.000]
But that is how it works. And then I have that ability to listen to the text being read aloud.

[00:20:59.000]
If I've translated the article and then click the listen button, it'll read it to me in the translated language.

[00:21:01.000]
Now, we are at over 50 languages for the text translation. And for the Listen translation. We are at 25.

[00:21:16.000]
So, 2425. So it is a little bit less, but it are the languages that are the most frequently used that you're going to see in that Listen button.

[00:21:26.000]
We also have, which is great for our researchers, great for our students, our public library patrons where they can send information directly to Google Drive.

[00:21:31.000]
One drive, email, download or print. These all live at the top of my article. These are my quick send options, but let's say I'm reading this article, I get to this point, I've done some highlighting.

[00:21:46.000]
This is a nice blanket of text here. I'm taking a look at. And I've clicked and dragged on some text.

[00:21:52.000]
I've done some highlighting. Very easy to do. Just click and drag. Save that I could have added notes if I wanted to.

[00:21:59.000]
At this point, if I wanted to send this article, I have all of my tools here in my contextual toolbar where I can send it to Google Microsoft Email.

[00:22:11.000]
Download or print. The nice thing is if I do send this wherever I send it, it will remain marked up.

[00:22:14.000]
So this little chunk of text I've highlighted will stay just as is. And then at the bottom my citation will be there.

[00:22:26.000]
Let me scroll down. So long article. My citation is here. It lives at the bottom.

[00:22:33.000]
It will go with my article wherever I send it. If I wanted to change the format to say APA seventh edition, before I send it somewhere, like to my Google Drive, I could do that.

[00:22:44.000]
I can also export just the citation. And then the citation tool does live up at the top in our contextual toolbar where I could just grab that citation also or I, same features I can export just the citation.

[00:22:59.000]
But if I need to change that. Before I send it to my beautiful marked-up document before I send it to my Google Drive, then I can.

[00:23:07.000]
And what happens is it goes to my Google Drive or Microsoft One Drive and it'll land in a folder titled Gale One File Business and it'll be all marked up and then below my citation.

[00:23:13.000]
We'll live those chunks of text I've highlighted in any notes I've taken.

[00:23:24.000]
So not only do I have that. Bear with me here. This chunk of text here, it will also live below my citation at the bottom and my notes will be there.

[00:23:34.000]
Okay, so we talked about a lot of functionality within the resource. There are some other tools like Gitlink and highlights and notes.

[00:23:43.000]
Let me go to do, I'm gonna do another basic search here. And this time, let's do one on something more of a topic.

[00:23:55.000]
Entrepreneurs or small business owners are interested in and that's employee management. There's some great academic journals on this topic.

[00:24:03.000]
We have over 11,000, so using your filter options may be very helpful tool for your users. But I've done this this topic search on employee management.

[00:24:14.000]
If I wanted to maybe this article here at the top.

[00:24:22.000]
I find interesting and there's another chunk of text I'm interested in. I want to just highlight them.

[00:24:25.000]
I can add in any notes. Save that information. And then again, I can send it. And it is a best practice to send it somewhere because then it will land.

[00:24:34.000]
In a folder, I'll have it until I choose to delete it and I won't lose what I've marked up on the document.

[00:24:45.000]
But what's also happening is my highlights and notes section. We talked about get link. Get link provides a persistent URL back to any spot within the resource, but It won't save what I've highlighted.

[00:24:58.000]
So best practice, send it to Google Microsoft, email, download or print. Ideally, Google or Microsoft.

[00:25:06.000]
And then you can use a get link tool and this is great for library programming for our professors that are working with students pulling information.

[00:25:15.000]
Into maybe you're using something like Canvas or D twol and you want to share this information or blackboard share this information with your students in your learning management system or in your syllabus you know that this is an article that you want to share down the road.

[00:25:31.000]
You can use the get link tool to share specific article again. It won't save your what you've highlighted.

[00:25:39.000]
If you want to save that then Please put it in Google Drive or Microsoft Onedrive. Of course, you can email download or print.

[00:25:46.000]
But if you have it in Google Drive Microsoft Onedrive, you can share it again with your students marked up exactly how you want it.

[00:25:53.000]
The Get Link tool also works great when you are on a larger topic such as Go back. Here we've done a search on employee management.

[00:26:02.000]
I want to share this with my students or in my public library programming because I know my small I'm doing some public library programming around small business owners.

[00:26:13.000]
Which is I know happening a lot especially after the new year. I can share this link and it'll take my users directly to all of this content.

[00:26:21.000]
So it's kind of a, it's like a shortcut. Some information. I can even filter that information.

[00:26:24.000]
If I wanted to filter by. Subject and then use the get link tool? I can do that too.

[00:26:36.000]
So again, whatever you decide, that's where that information is going to go. If I wanted to view all of my highlights in notes, so all I did, let me go back.

[00:26:42.000]
I went a little quick on that. Highlights and notes is here. And these are just the areas.

[00:26:51.000]
Or just on the chunks of text I highlighted in my articles. I can send these just these.

[00:27:01.000]
I like to call them digital notes. I can send these directly to. Google, Microsoft, email, download or print, same as the articles.

[00:27:11.000]
I could add any notes I wanted to. Or edit my notes. The Dibliography is attached.

[00:27:19.000]
I can create a legend. So a label here if I wanted to select a label. Put in a term.

[00:27:28.000]
And save. I could do that. But this highlights a note section. There's a little warning here at the top.

[00:27:31.000]
This is session based. So if I don't come in here and save this, or send it, I should say, not save it, send it or download or print.

[00:27:45.000]
I would lose these this information. That's why I always say best practice, keep the whole article, send it somewhere so you have the whole article, especially when you're working with students.

[00:27:55.000]
Always a helpful tool that they have the whole article first and then they can come in and grab these digital notes.

[00:28:03.000]
All right, so we talked about did some basic searches. We talked about, we're right towards the end of our time here, publication searches and journal alerts and search alerts that are available.

[00:28:16.000]
And again, this is a great resource when you're talking to your patrons or your higher ed students or faculty members.

[00:28:23.000]
We cover multiple business disciplines including accounting and economics and finance and marketing, management and strategy, which I had shared with you, but also business theory and practice.

[00:28:35.000]
And that's where that higher ed piece comes into play. This is a great one for investors. For, again, for students, for your small business owners.

[00:28:45.000]

[00:28:51.000]

[00:28:58.000]
