So again, a great site to bookmark on your browser so that you have it you can jump in at any time when you need any of those support.
[00:03:49.000]
So let's jump into Gale Business Entrepreneurship and talk a little bit about it.
[00:03:58.000]
Just so that we have a better understanding of what this resource is, what it's used for. What you're going to find within.
[00:04:05.000]
So real world, you will find real-world business plans. We have the complete series collection of business plans handbook.
[00:04:15.000]
And you may have some of them on your library shelf within this resource you have unlimited digital access.
[00:04:20.000]
You have the ability to translate the text, download it, print it off. Email it, send it to your Google Drive, Microsoft Onedrive, all the same functionality you have with all of your other Gale resources.
[00:04:28.000]
So those business plans are very handy to have. Those books I know get used a lot in libraries, but you're users can access from anywhere they can access the internet.
[00:04:43.000]
They can access these resources. They are mobile responsive. And the resource does automatically adjust depending on what type of device your users are using.
[00:04:53.000]
You'll find reference works like the smart like the encyclopedia of small business. A great directories that are related to establishing, maintaining or otherwise managing a small business.
[00:05:06.000]
And over 300 full-text entrepreneurial and industry-specific magazines and journals.
[00:05:11.000]
There's also audio files and videos available so we have some multimedia available within this resource too.
[00:05:18.000]
So with that we are spending All of our time, exploring the resource itself. And let me jump into and I'm gonna share that screen with you.
[00:05:27.000]
If you have any questions, please feel free to use the Q&A box. It is open and available.
[00:05:34.000]
So I have accessed. The gale business entrepreneurship. A few things I want to share with you.
[00:05:39.000]
One thing is if you wanted to jump between your business resources. So this is part one and we're going to talk about that opened up for me and we're going to talk about this specific resource but I but we have a few others available in your business suite.
[00:05:58.000]
So if I wanted to say jump between this resource and another, I do have the ability to use the product menu and that product menu lives in the upper left hand corner.
[00:06:11.000]
When I open up, I just opened up. TexShare main access public. That's the, it will say your library name, but I just opened this up and I can view my product.
[00:06:21.000]
And my product menu looks like this. So if I were actually, when I first land on it, it looks like this, all of my databases are listed here.
[00:06:29.000]
I go into business, I can see that I have Gale Business Entrepreneurship, Gale Business Insights, and then our third one in our series that we're going to cover is actually Gale Business.
[00:06:43.000]
And our one file collection, it's our periodical content, but you also have legal forms available too.
[00:06:49.000]
Legal forms. Is right here under that more button. So again all of your databases live. On this first landing page, but if you wanted to quickly filter, you can use the navigation that we have set up for you at the top.
[00:07:06.000]
Gale business entrepreneurship. Is our focus today. I did sign in with Google, but you can in the upper right, sign in with Google or Microsoft.
[00:07:14.000]
You are a teacher we have a lot of our high school teachers will utilize this resource you've got students that are interested in in marketing or they're interested in you have some business courses or classes that you're offering, especially at the higher ed level, lots of business classes that are being offered.
[00:07:31.000]
You have students coming into your public library looking for support looking for information. This is a great resource to direct them to.
[00:07:38.000]
It's very user friendly. And it is kind of similar to our in context as far as layout.
[00:07:45.000]
So it might feel a little bit more comfortable. For your high school students because it is similar to any of our in context resources that they utilize very often.
[00:07:54.000]
So you can sign in with Google or Microsoft. If we had any K 12 folks using this, they would probably be using it through text quests.
[00:07:57.000]
But you do have access to Google Classroom. I just want to mention that. For your users and our that our patrons that need different languages, we have the ability to translate the platform into over 34 languages, meaning that it'll translate all of these navigational tools.
[00:08:16.000]
And this is a separate feature. From one I'm at the document level, I can translate the document into over 40 languages.
[00:08:24.000]
So this is a separate feature. This is for the, the, again, translating the navigation and again this is available on all of your Gale resources.
[00:08:37.000]
We have our basic search and advance search under advanced search. We have the advanced search with all of our great pre limiters that we have available.
[00:08:48.000]
We even have some search tips, special characters. We have some search tip. I'm sorry, operators and special characters we have search tips available.
[00:08:56.000]
So like using quotation marks, this is a great tool to use not all of our users are aware of those features that you can that you can utilize during your searches.
[00:09:06.000]
We also have some research limiters that are available here. Maybe you're looking for all your peer reviewed journals if you're coming, especially from an academic library, that might be something that be might be very important.
[00:09:17.000]
You can filter that down. Right in the advanced search. And then we have our different content types, which you'll see available in our search results.
[00:09:26.000]
And then document type publication title publication subject. If you're looking for a certain subject you can use the subject guide search.
[00:09:36.000]
And then we also have publication search available. So if you're looking for certain publications, there's a list of all publications here.
[00:09:39.000]
And we have the title lists available. On the Gale support site too. So you have the title list.
[00:09:51.000]
For gale business entrepreneurship available on the Gale support site. And I shared that I didn't I don't know if I shared that link I did I shared the texture link at the beginning and I'll talk a little bit more about the support site at the end of today's.
[00:10:06.000]
Training right at the end. Okay, looking at the home page, you can see here in in our contextual toolbar that we have a glossary.
[00:10:16.000]
You have the ability to browse all of the topic pages. Title list search history. These are going to be search history is going to be session based.
[00:10:24.000]
Here's your title list so you don't have to go to the support site. This link will take you there.
[00:10:25.000]
And you can download that title list. Get link provides a persistent URL back to any spat within the resource and then highlights and notes, which is a great tool to utilize and highlight.
[00:10:37.000]
Markup documents and then send them to your Google Driver. Microsoft One Drive, print, email, or download.
[00:10:48.000]
We'll talk a little bit more about highlights and notes because there's a what I like to call a digital notes section that's being built out too.
[00:10:55.000]
Topics of interest are here at the top of the page. And these are the ones that are looked at or utilized very often.
[00:11:03.000]
But we also have this organization on the homepage. That is really helpful to our small business owners and our business students.
[00:11:13.000]
You have 4 sections. One, the first one being planning. When you're looking at business planning, here are some suggested topic pages that we have available.
[00:11:23.000]
Next step would be funding if you're looking at ways to fund your business. Here are again some topic pages that we suggest that are available in the resource.
[00:11:33.000]
Now you're ready to start your business. Here is an area to explore. Maybe you want to look at small businesses that are trending or minority veteran women owned businesses.
[00:11:43.000]
Maybe you're looking at business structures like what is an LLC? Why would I get an LLC?
[00:11:45.000]
As compared to a corporation, so those types of questions can be answered. And then in the right hand side, this is our final step and that's managing.
[00:11:57.000]
Now that you have your business, how can you grow it or how can you manage your business? Managing employees is something we get asked about a lot.
[00:12:05.000]
And keeping those. And and making sure that they stay with you and your company. So what are some tips and tricks and helpful tools to manage your employees.
[00:12:15.000]
We have collected and curated all that information into this topic page. Below you have the ability to try Gale legal forms because you do have access to get legal forms through TexShare, you have this resource too.
[00:12:30.000]
So now that you've got your business started, what legal forms do you need? You can your users can quickly go directly to Gale legal forms by clicking.
[00:12:39.000]
Or And I already had it opened before. And these are all of the legal forms available. Within Texas.
[00:12:46.000]
So these are Texas legal forms. If there are any federal forms or I should say national forms, they would be listed here too.
[00:12:52.000]
There you'll see a little US next to them. And so you have both your your local and your US.
[00:13:02.000]
Forms legal forms that you may need. So really helpful for our business users or business owners to have that directly linked within the resource.
[00:13:13.000]
Want to talk a little bit about the glossary before we go into each of the categories here. The glossary is really helpful when there's a term that you don't fully understand.
[00:13:18.000]
You can scroll down and look at the alphabetical list or you can quickly search the glossary and find that term.
[00:13:30.000]
So we have the term in the definition available, which is always, again, very helpful information to have right within your resource.
[00:13:37.000]
We want to make this as easy as possible for our users to use and also find exactly what they need in that user friendly way.
[00:13:48.000]
So let's look at our first. Category and that is planning. Now I could start with budgeting or business ideas.
[00:13:55.000]
I'm going to jump to business plans. Because I want to talk to you about our business plans handbook.
[00:14:02.000]
You have over a thousand business plans available and these are coming from the business plans handbook. You can see the most recent is, 2,024.
[00:14:13.000]
So you have the most recent volume available here with digitally. Within this resource. What you're also going to find on our topic pages is an image and an essay overview.
[00:14:27.000]
The essay overview is a great place to get started. You can see there's some conversation or talking about business plans and and for small businesses if we have any related topic or related documents.
[00:14:42.000]
They could be images or videos, but any related documents here are going to be listed in our Explorer panel on the right hand side, which is always helpful.
[00:14:51.000]
To have that additional content to quickly jump to. Our topic pages have this middle section, which you can see all of the content types that are available on this page.
[00:15:02.000]
We're going to see a lot because these are business plans we're going to see this is a heavy section where I'm going to explore a few other topics with you and you'll see the changes when we're in each one.
[00:15:13.000]
We're not going to see probably as many directories or videos. These, this focus for this topic page is on business plans, but you do see a good amount of recommended resources.
[00:15:23.000]
Magazine and journals, some news articles, here's some safe vetted websites. Actually that's That's a high number.
[00:15:31.000]
I usually don't see 205, there are other resources. So quite a few websites available to explore here they are.
[00:15:40.000]
Now our business plans, I'm gonna go into that complete section. If I wanted to search for a certain before I do, I wanted to search for a certain topic, I can do that and search within these results and it'll search through just these.
[00:15:48.000]
Results on this topic topic page. If I were to go back up to the top and use my basic search, that would search through the entire database again.
[00:16:03.000]
So here is searching just through. My results on this page. So this topic page, which keeps it nice.
[00:16:11.000]
And organized for your users where they're not opening it back up to everything. They're searching within a curated collection.
[00:16:19.000]
So imagine you have your book book cart right if this was a physical books and you curated that collection for them.
[00:16:26.000]
You've done that work for them. That's what we've done. For you and your users as we've curated it into these topic pages.
[00:16:36.000]
So I can search through for a certain term. Within these results. So business plans, I like to show you how I like to use business plans.
[00:16:44.000]
So. Right now it's being sorted by newest and that's what I normally will do is I'll sort by newest.
[00:16:50.000]
You can sort by relevance over here to the left is the sort by relevance, newest or oldest.
[00:16:56.000]
I like to come into the business plans and search by newest. Especially if I'm not really sure.
[00:17:03.000]
What type of business I'm interested in. I have some interest, but are there any that are trending?
[00:17:08.000]
Is there something you have that business trends? Topic page, but I can look through my business plans too and see, okay, what is it that is new?
[00:17:17.000]
What's a new business? Maybe I hadn't thought about. Maybe it's similar to something that I'm interested in.
[00:17:22.000]
This is a great way to do that. And these business plans, and you can see here's a cat sitter and look at the the title Kitty City LLC.
[00:17:31.000]
But these businesses that you're going to find these are true business plan. Business plans from Successful businesses.
[00:17:40.000]
And what we'll do is we will change their, some of their information like their contact information or their address, that type of information.
[00:17:45.000]
Will change on here. Let's look at this mobile hairdresser. I have 0 experience besides doing my own hair with something like this so I'm curious about it.
[00:17:56.000]
So this is you can see a business plan. And you can see on the right hand side what Contents are available in this business plan.
[00:18:06.000]
So this again, from a successful business. And we have now been able to publish because we work with these great companies.
[00:18:09.000]
Able to publish this content for you. All So you can see there's an executive summary. Overview organizations which you can find great organizations and directories here within the resource too.
[00:18:26.000]
This business plan happened to include it, which is very helpful. Market analysis. And each business plan will be slightly different.
[00:18:34.000]
You're gonna have some key components that are across all of them. But you will see some differences.
[00:18:37.000]
Some may have more graphs. We've got some information about, you know, beard trimming too, not just hair cutting.
[00:18:45.000]
Operations because it's mobile. So what are some of the costs that you might in that you might incur or need to be aware of tools and technology, and liability, something to consider.
[00:18:56.000]
That's always something when opening a new business you have to be aware of that liability. And then personnel and the list goes on with great information on growth strategy.
[00:19:07.000]
Is also another great area to consider when you're opening a business. So this is actually a really great business plan.
[00:19:10.000]
Very detailed. This this company has done a great job laying this all out. And you can see on the right hand side I could quickly jump down to evaluation and adjustment or financial we are in financial analysis when we're looking or growth strategy financial analysis I can quickly jump to those sections there.
[00:19:34.000]
So again, you have all of the business plans, handbook the most recent volume. Which is volume 59 that is being published this year in 2,024.
[00:19:46.000]
So you already have access to it digitally. Now I talked about in our overview session some of the tools and features and I wanted to dive into those a little deeper when we are at the article level a few things I had pointed out the Explorer panel here and these again are related.
[00:20:04.000]
Documents to the article that I'm on. So where this comes in handy, again, you have a small business owner entrepreneur doing their research and they found one article that interests them.
[00:20:15.000]
This will allow for them to explore additional articles. It's also really helpful when you have students either at the high school or college level that are a lot of times tasked with finding multiple sources.
[00:20:32.000]
And here's a great way for them to find one article that they're interested in and then here are supplemental articles or documents that are available.
[00:20:40.000]
So that can be a really helpful tool, not just for your researchers, small business owners, but also for your students.
[00:20:47.000]
Faculty members, this can be really helpful for. If I wanted to save this entire article, I have some options.
[00:20:54.000]
Right here, I have all of my quicksand options. I can send this to Google Driver Microsoft Onedrive.
[00:20:59.000]
I can email, download, or print. I also have these features in my contextual toolbar and we put them in 2 places for this reason.
[00:21:08.000]
If I'm scrolling down this document and I got to the Let's say. Growth strategy part and I'm like oh yeah, this is definitely an article I want to keep I can my contextual toolbar sticks with me.
[00:21:22.000]
So I can send this to Google One Driver email. I can download or print this information off.
[00:21:29.000]
I can also grab a link so a link will create a persistent URL back to this exact spot within the.
[00:21:31.000]
When you've shared this link, Your users will not need to authenticate to get into the resource because they will be taken directly to this article.
[00:21:42.000]
Now, let's say you're sharing this, you have a public outreach community that you work with and maybe you're on I used to say Twitter but now it's now it's X or maybe you have a Facebook group.
[00:21:54.000]
And you want to share this article with them. You can do that. You can still do that.
[00:22:04.000]
And what will happen is, and let's say some of them are out of state that you work with.
[00:22:08.000]
Not just locally. You can still share this link and what will happen is, is they will click on the link and be able to read this article.
[00:22:17.000]
But that's as far as they'll be able to go if they move any further. I mean if they're let's say they're in Louisiana and they move any further, try to go to another part within the resource.
[00:22:24.000]
That's when they would be prompted for a password. So it's not like you're giving unlimited access to anyone that, you know, that is in your social media network.
[00:22:38.000]
You're just giving access to the initial article. So keep that in mind when you're using that get link but the nice thing is is that no one will need to authenticate to read this information that you're sharing.
[00:22:49.000]
So I was like to use social media as an example when I'm talking about so that full understanding of, okay, that makes sense because you all are in Texas, so you'll be able to, you know, you should know your, your information, your username password information to access this.
[00:23:00.000]
Or, you know, if you're using some other kind of single sign on, I know a lot of our schools do or possibly you're using a learning management system, your gale resources can be set up within your learning management system, your gale resources can be set up within your learning management system, your gale resources can be set up within your learning management system too.
[00:23:10.000]
Your gale resources can be set up within your learning management system too. So from our higher ed maybe you're using Canvas or D 2 L, any of those types of systems you can utilize.
[00:23:24.000]
The these resources from within your learning management system too. There's some setup that needs to happen, but it there it is an option to embed this content directly into an assignment.
[00:23:29.000]
A discussion, a page. Very easy to do. But we do have that get link tool to share this content.
[00:23:41.000]
Okay, few other tools I want to point out as you do have the translate feature where I can translate this article into over 40 languages.
[00:23:51.000]
I can decrease or increase the font size. I have display options like changing the color behind the text, changing the font.
[00:23:59.000]
Increasing the line letter and word spacing. Now this will stay with me throughout my session. So when I go into another article, it'll look the exact same.
[00:24:08.000]
I don't have to set it up again. To remove it, I just open. Oops, sorry, open that back up.
[00:24:14.000]
Click back to default settings.
[00:24:18.000]
And then I can also listen to the text being read aloud to me. If I have translated the text into say Spanish and then click the Listen button, it will read the text in Spanish to me.
[00:24:29.000]
I, we are at 40 languages here. We are at 24 for the listen option. So we utilize the ones that are used the most.
[00:24:39.000]
Let me go back to that homepage because we talked a lot about our business plans and that what do you have available but let's go into our next category.
[00:24:49.000]
And that is funding. Maybe I'm interested in angel investors.
[00:24:55.000]
This topic page, you can see what information we have. We have a lot in magazines and journals available here.
[00:24:57.000]
We have 3 business plans, but really this is heavily in our periodical content. Magazine and journals, newspaper articles.
[00:25:09.000]
I go to magazines and journals, maybe it's filtering by the newest information.
[00:25:14.000]
But maybe I want to use some of my options here filtering my results down where I can filter by publication date.
[00:25:21.000]
I just want everything from the last year. Not only does it apply to my magazines and journals, it applies to all of my resources, all my content or search results at the same time.
[00:25:31.000]
If I'm looking for a certain document type like I just want brief articles, I can filter it down further.
[00:25:39.000]
Now you can see I'm just in magazines and journals and news. If I wanted to share this with my public library patrons or with any of my users at any level, I can use the get link tool and it creates a persistent URL back to my filtered results.
[00:25:54.000]
So it's not just at the article level. I can use it here. When I filter down my results, I can use it to I can use a get link tool to a topic page.
[00:26:03.000]
If I wanted to share an entire topic page like the business plans topic page, I could do that. So you can really utilize that tool at so many different ways and it does create that persistent URL back to this exact spot.
[00:26:17.000]
If I want to remove those filters, I just simply click on the X and it removes them.
[00:26:22.000]
I also have the ability to search within my results from this screen too.
[00:26:32.000]
So let's go into, I want to click into each of these just real quick. This one we are going to go into the trending small businesses.
[00:26:42.000]
And you can see this one has quite a few audio files available. We also still have those great magazine and journals and I did when I clicked into it
[00:26:55.000]
Okay, you can see how long these articles are too and last one I I'm sorry. I didn't point that out.
[00:27:01.000]
And the types of publications these are coming from like this is coming from the economist. And different publications.
[00:27:07.000]
We are a global company. So you are going to see publications from around the world but also we publish our own content so you're going to see information published by Gale.
[00:27:19.000]
Again, if I wanted to share this, I can use my get link tool. And I can share this entire topic page.
[00:27:26.000]
And then view the content below. So everything is organized into these buckets. Or back.
[00:27:35.000]
And we do have quite a few websites available there.
[00:27:43.000]
And we went through each of those subject categories. The last one I wanted to touch into is managing your employees.
[00:27:49.000]
In the manage section, again, image and essay overview. This one has quite a few directories available, so I want to touch into those real quick.
[00:27:58.000]
We're looking at different content. And you can see the types of directories. Now this is where because there's 248, I would utilize this to filter your results.
[00:28:04.000]
I would be looking specifically for my industry. So if I'm looking for, so I am in managing my business, let's see.
[00:28:17.000]
I'm just going to use coffee as an example. Maybe there's some coffee shop. Information here.
[00:28:26.000]
And we have 7 business plans. That's not where I was at. I was it.
[00:28:30.000]
Jumped me out. Let me remove that so it didn't have in the directories anything on coffee.
[00:28:35.000]
So I might want to change my search again and take a different look at those directories. I'm in the directories right now.
[00:28:43.000]
And I can scroll down and see some of those directories. Let me click into Jet Aviation U.S.A.
[00:28:49.000]
So you can see what content is here. We'll have some like this and then others that have a long list.
[00:28:56.000]
Of information. Like let's try this one. Nope, this is a shorter one too.
[00:29:03.000]
But in Texas in Austin, Texas. But some of ours will have like if I did a search, let's do floral.
[00:29:05.000]
No, let's do coffee again. I'm gonna do a basic search and coffee.
[00:29:15.000]
130 directories Let's see if this happens. To be one. No, so these are shorter ones.
[00:29:22.000]
Some have a long list of different directories of available. And you have, you but you can see you have the mailing information, phone, email, even direct URLs.
[00:29:33.000]
This one happens to have a Facebook page, contact, great information that you can find in those directories, especially if you're looking to network and grow.
[00:29:41.000]
Your business, again, this was in the manage. You're business, so growing your business or managing your employees, that type of information, you'll find some great directory content there.
[00:29:52.000]
Which not everybody is aware of that we have in this resource. Okay, so we took that deeper dive.
[00:29:58.000]
We covered all of the tools and features. Some of the things that are a little different within this resource like having that glossary and being linked directly to Gale legal forms.
[00:30:08.000]
But then those topics that are really important to your small business owners, your entrepreneurs, your business students.
[00:30:15.000]
That can be helpful and you'll find here along with great publications in our own publication information.
[00:30:22.000]
So let me go back to my PowerPoint and share with you.
[00:30:28.000]
Where you can go for additional support. And I shared the link to the TexShare support site. What I also want to share with you is you do have the ability when you're there.

[00:31:20.000]

[00:30:43.000]

[00:30:51.000]
So not just training. If you go to the support site itself. So here let me give you that link.
[00:30:58.000]
And you can you can access it from the TexShare support site that I shared with you. But let me give you.
[00:31:07.000]
This is what I'm referring to.
[00:31:16.000]
I think I just, there we go. It didn't copy. Okay, so you can access this.
[00:31:20.000]
You'll see at the top. Of your the first link I shared with you the support. Gale.
[00:31:25.000]
Dot com slash TexShare that one you can see at the very top of the page, you can access and go to the support site and it'll take you to the second link that I just shared with you.
