[00:03:07.000]
When we're talking about businesses and looking specifically for industry, information, a few things I want to point out that are available on the homepage is, if you want to share.

[00:03:36.000]
And this way, whenever I send any information to my Google, drive, it'll land in a folder titled Gale In context opposing viewpoints.

[00:03:46.000]
It'll turn every document into a Google Doc, and then you can do the same with Microsoft.

[00:03:50.000]
Now, there's other ways to share information, and I'll go over those and work them into our session today.

[00:03:56.000]
But I do want to talk to you about some of the content that you're going to find of course we have our basic search and advanced search here.

[00:04:03.000]
We also have our issues of interests which are scrolling, and these change once a month you'll also find below.

[00:04:10.000]
We have these subject categories. One. We are going to touch into today is business and economics.

[00:04:31.000]
Collections of information, now we are going to start with science and technology and ethics, science, technology and ethics.

[00:04:38.000]
We have 115 topic pages here we have some of the national debate topic pages organized here for you at the top.

[00:04:45.000]
And I wanted to point out a couple different things that you're going to find here.

[00:04:51.000]
So, if you are looking at, maybe you're in the industry in a green business that was the second part of our series.

[00:04:59.000]
We were talking about green businesses and you are looking for up-to-date information on nuclear energy as an option for renewable energy.

[00:05:07.000]
You can see. Here we have the topic, page, and this is going to share with you a nuclear energy, not only an understanding of what it is, but you'll also find viewpoints, so you'll find featured viewpoints which are hand selected by our our content editors, but then also

[00:05:24.000]
viewpoints over here on the right hand side, and these are viewpoint essays and viewpoint essays.

[00:05:29.000]
Start with a commentary. They also help develop those critical thinking skills which we can use at any level.

[00:05:35.000]
It could be your public library patrons. It could be students definitely higher.

[00:05:36.000]
Ed students to where we're develop continuously developing those those skills.

[00:05:43.000]
But not only that. You're getting information, authoritative, content that you can provide to your users here within this database they're not going to social media to find their information.

[00:05:52.000]
They are coming here, or the open web. They're coming to your databases that your library has available from the Tennessee Electronic Library our viewpoint essays provide you with.

[00:06:05.000]
I'm just going to choose this first one here at the top.

[00:06:09.000]
They provide you with an article commentary, but then also some questions to consider as you're reading this article and this these articles, these viewpoint essays, you will find.

[00:06:19.000]
So here's the author information. You'll also find on the publication of information.

[00:06:24.000]
But what I also love to and on within this resource is, and this is a shared feature across all your Gale resources.

[00:06:32.000]
You have the ability to explore additional content. So maybe you're finding an article commentary that's really helpful here, within this viewpoint essay.

[00:06:41.000]
And you want to find some additional content related to it. This supplemental content on the right-hand side can be really helpful to researchers, learners, business owners, as they are exploring some of the information that you have or content available within this resource so let's go back to science and technology I just was

[00:06:58.000]
clicking and I want to share as much content as possible with you.

[00:07:02.000]
You may find topic pages such as pharmaceutical industry.

[00:07:05.000]
So here, if you're exploring the topic of pharmaceutical industry, and you want to find current information.

[00:07:11.000]
So you are going to find a pointed out featured viewpoints and viewpoints.

[00:07:16.000]
But also magazine newspaper. We have images. Academic journals, peer review, journals are included here. Video, content.

[00:07:23.000]
There's statistics and audio files. Any safe vetted websites are going to be here.

[00:07:28.000]
We even have some interactive info graphics available. Let me share those with you today.

[00:07:34.000]
So if you see that content type of inner infographics, that means we do have some interactive info graphics available and I'm just going to select this first one top us biotech and pharmaceutical companies based on total revenue, so if you're looking for industry this is

[00:07:51.000]
pharmaceutical industry information. These are interactive meaning that I can filter content down.

[00:07:57.000]
Or I can manipulate the content that is, there you can see here at the top.

[00:08:03.000]
If you saw when I clicked into it, what happened? It was adjusting to this.

[00:08:08.000]
One doesn't let me see if he has many choices. I can.

[00:08:12.000]
Oh, here I can change some of the information at the top, so you can see it is interactive.

[00:08:17.000]
If I wanted to share or like, I said, interact with that information.

[00:08:23.000]
I can very easily select those error, or manipulate that interactive or the graph itself, and find or adjust to see exactly what I'm looking for.

[00:08:36.000]
Let me choose another. I have a couple others I want to share with you today.

[00:08:39.000]
And those interactive infographics. I have a little, a few more options available.

[00:08:43.000]
So we're in science, technology and ethics a few things, other topics.

[00:08:48.000]
I wanted to point out to you automation in the workplace so this may be something that I was speaking to.

[00:08:50.000]
A business owner, and they were saying how in the next 2 years technology may make or break them.

[00:09:04.000]
And that could be something that you're users are considering, or have to consider.

[00:09:07.000]
Where can they go to find what is what could potentially be in store for them in the future?

[00:09:11.000]
So it's very interesting to have that conversation and learn a little bit more about it.

[00:09:16.000]
So I, of course, took that into our training to talk about today.

[00:09:25.000]
So that automation in the workplace, what it can mean to a company and what it can mean to smaller companies that maybe support in in that area.

[00:09:29.000]
So something where you can find great content, different subjects. This has been curated for you.

[00:09:42.000]
You can see here some video content and images that we have available at the very bottom of all of our topic.

[00:09:43.000]
Pages you will find additional related topics. One of the ones that you can see here quite a few different topics that really can support and help educate your business owners.

[00:09:58.000]
Your entrepreneurs, your students, faculty members that are looking at some of these topics so flexible workflaces, which is something that we've all experienced, especially the last couple years.

[00:10:10.000]
Maybe you are looking. Your company is looking to, or your users company is looking to grow globally.

[00:10:15.000]
Maybe internationally, and looking at what's happening. Is it a good market?

[00:10:20.000]
Is, what are the conditions there? Are they safe? Is it something that could come back and not be a good decision down the road where you could lose a lot of business or gain a lot of business looking at outsourcing and the impact of oursourcing also artificial intelligence now that's a topic that's come

[00:10:47.000]
up a lot lately, especially with the chat Gpt.

[00:10:51.000]
And information you're going to find here a lot of information around the chat.

[00:10:58.000]
Gpt is being found. You can see here this Washington post posted right away.

[00:10:59.000]
We're finding some great Washington post posted right away.

[00:11:03.000]
We're finding some great video content, too. But finding great information on this concerns about the growing use of the chat bots.

[00:11:15.000]
But also just everything related to artificial intelligence. So I really found that this topic page can be really helpful in a number of areas within different industries, but especially with our technology industries.

[00:11:31.000]
And again below. Here are all of those great topic pages.

[00:11:34.000]
So from one you can explore many others, so let me go back up to the top. Here.

[00:11:41.000]
I do want to. I'm gonna jump into this first one.

[00:11:43.000]
And this is a viewpoint essay like I shared before and it has an article commentary.

[00:11:50.000]
And these questions to consider a few things I want to point out is, you do have the ability to send and save this information.

[00:11:57.000]
So if I want to send this, I can send it to Google Microsoft email download or print.

[00:12:03.000]
I also have those options here. I'm my contextual toolbar under that paper airplane.

[00:12:04.000]
Download and print, and the reason why we put it in both places a quick sender at the top of the article.

[00:12:13.000]
But I could be at this point and decide. This is definitely something I want to save.

[00:12:18.000]
So I am going to send this to my Google drive again.

[00:12:22.000]
It will land in a folder titled Gale in context, opposing viewpoints, and I have that document until I choose to delete.

[00:12:29.000]
I do also have some great tools to support accessibility here with, translate the ability to increase or decrease the font size, change the display options, including the font and I can also listen to the cont to the content being read, allow me now let's say, let's go back to the homepage.

[00:12:45.000]
And let's go into business and economics. Since we're talking about researching businesses, business industries, there's a lot of topics here that can affect businesses.

[00:13:00.000]
And I was, you know, looking at this, you have different options to really explore and find content.

[00:13:07.000]
But also, if you are in, we've talked about green businesses in our three-part series.

[00:13:13.000]
Maybe you're looking at renewable energy as a source.

[00:13:17.000]
I had mentioned nuclear energy. But maybe you're looking at renewable energy, and you want the most up-to-date information.

[00:13:23.000]
And you want to see all sides of any issues that could be potential problems down the road or right currently, right now, this is a great way to find that type of content or looking at government stimulus pathages.

[00:13:30.000]
Let's see, with some other content here that we have that could affect different businesses.

[00:13:41.000]
Maybe you are going into the video game business definitely with AI and everything growing.

[00:13:50.000]
Video games are still something that are consistently growing. As we know our, I should say, are students.

[00:13:59.000]
But of all ages, adults and students are enjoying that video.

[00:14:00.000]
Those video games, too. So you can see a lot of information, even consumer debt, which could affect your business.

[00:14:10.000]
So we've got a lot of business business topics.

[00:14:11.000]
Maybe this isn't a resource you had necessarily thought about to share with your business owners your entrepreneurs, your students going into business, that this, with those business, the business clientes or courses that they're taking it really is a resource that is going to provide you

[00:14:34.000]
with to date information, and it does show all sides of the issue.

[00:14:40.000]
So there are issues here within industries that could affect these folks that are looking to open a business.

[00:14:48.000]
So this is a great resource to share with them as they're exploring and developing their business.

[00:14:49.000]
What are some factors that they need to consider? What are maybe some controversial issues that are happening.

[00:15:00.000]
This is this resource, opposing viewpoints gives that procon all sides of the issue, but also covers some of those controversial issues that our business owners could possibly face one area that I do want to share with you.

[00:15:13.000]
The National Debate topic and that's economic inequality.

[00:15:17.000]
And that's a national debate topic for this year.

[00:15:18.000]
But again, great information that can support our business owners that are doing some research, looking for content and of course, all of our researchers.

[00:15:24.000]
This is a great resource for that. I'm going to use this infographic here within this resource, and I'm going to filter to the newest.

[00:15:41.000]
And this is looking at the Us. Median incomes by type of household.

[00:15:45.000]
And you can see here's by marital status.

[00:15:50.000]
By race, and then not surprising by educational attainment, that you would see that higher, that higher yearly income for a bachelor's degree or higher, you can also manipulate the content here below within this graph.

[00:16:09.000]
If I wanted to remove. Maybe I wanted to remove, and only I'll remove.

[00:16:13.000]
Look at all races. Maybe I want to remove.

[00:16:18.000]
Let's remove Asian, and you can just have.

[00:16:23.000]
You can see here, and each color obviously is related to one of those items below. For our graph.

[00:16:29.000]
But looking at that content in the growth from 2011 to 2021.

[00:16:39.000]
Okay. And again, even from these graphs, we can explore additional content that we have available.

[00:16:41.000]
So great information that you're going to find within opposing viewpoints.

[00:16:49.000]
Looking at businesses, looking at industries in particular, I love this resource for looking at different industries, but also some of those topics that could come up and affect different businesses.

[00:17:02.000]
So like artificial intelligence, and also that economic inequality, just to point out a few here on this topic.

[00:17:15.000]
Page. Alright. So we talked about content that you have available.

[00:17:16.000]
Let me share with you one more item before we leave today, and that is, if I wanted to share.

[00:17:24.000]
Maybe I wanted to share post this on my library website, share it with my faculty members, because I know these are topics that they're studying in the classroom.

[00:17:33.000]
So if I were to go into. Let's go into law and politics again.

[00:17:36.000]
Another area that's can affect businesses. And let me choose.

[00:17:43.000]
Let's look at predatory lending. If I wanted to share this information, I can use the get linked tool.

[00:17:50.000]
Get link provides a persistent URL back to any spot within your resource.

[00:17:52.000]
So maybe I want to share this topic page, or maybe I have chosen one of the topics below.

[00:18:01.000]
I'm going to go to viewpoints, and I filtered it down.

[00:18:05.000]
I have my filter. Your results on the right hand side, where I can filter this content down maybe I'm looking for everything from just the last year.

[00:18:13.000]
It will filter down everything at once, as you can see.

[00:18:14.000]
Here's the most from the last year magazines and news articles and viewpoints that I have available.

[00:18:23.000]
I can use the get linked tool and provide a persistent URL back to that exact spot.

[00:18:28.000]
Now, if I go to, of course, when we have those those subjects like predatory lending, if I go to a larger subject and anything like, let's see global warming and climate change.

[00:18:42.000]
I can click into any of the topic the contact types. I'm gonna go into reference this time and again, let's filter by the past year and apply.

[00:18:52.000]
You can see a lot more content. This is that a larger topic area on global warming and climate change.

[00:19:00.000]
And again I can create or grab a link that'll take everyone, even to my filtered content.

[00:19:05.000]
Back to this exact information. So I can filter my content.

[00:19:09.000]
I could go into just my video content and grab a link back to that I could be at a video at the video level.

[00:19:17.000]
Or I document level and share that individual content. So it's a lot of great ways to pull this information into what's happening in your courses.

[00:19:28.000]
What's happening in your library, or what's happening in your school, and then, for course, for our business owners, they can grab this content and send it directly to their maybe share it with their business partner, or also put put it right into their Google drive or Microsoft onedrive for later

[00:19:49.000]
review alright. So with that, let's go back to our Powerpoint.

[00:19:54.000]
This was a brief 15 min mastery, session, and let me share with you where you can go for additional support.

[00:20:01.000]
And that's your Gale support site on your Gale support site.

[00:20:05.000]

You're going to find tip sheets and tutorials.

[00:20:18.000]

[00:20:22.000]

[00:20:29.000]
Think outside the lines as an example of a social media post.

[00:20:32.000]
That's, I believe, one of our Twitter posts.

[00:20:34.000]
We have recently added new information, such as the claim, evidence, and reasoning writing.

[00:20:37.000]
So if you are coming from a school or academic library, and you want to share this with faculty members this is a great way to pull, and even in your public library programming, this is a great tool to use and the training you'll find it.

[00:20:54.000]
In the training center on our support site for opposing viewpoints.

[00:20:55.000]
But this can be used for many of your Gale resources that you have from the Tennessee Electronic Library.

[00:21:03.000]
It really isn't one of those general documents, but it really talks about utilizing some of the information, and helps organize that information into that claim.

[00:21:13.000]
Evidence and reasoning. As your users are working through these articles.
