How do I construct an OpenURL for Gale content?

Below is a template for a valid inbound OpenURL:

https://find.gale.com/openurl/openurl?url_ver=Z39.88-2004&url_ctx_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&req_dat=info:sid/gale:ugnid:[location_id]&res_id=info:sid/gale:[product_abbrev]&ctx_enc=info:ofi:enc:UTF-8&rft_val_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:journal&rft.atitle=[article_title]&rft.issue=[issue_number]&rft.volume=[volume_number]

The following working example uses the galedemo location ID to search Gale Academic OneFile (AONE) for a specific article by title (rft.atitle), volume (rft.volume), and issue (rft.issue):

https://find.gale.com/openurl/openurl?url_ver=Z39.88-2004&url_ctx_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&req_dat=info:sid/gale:ugnid:galedemo&res_id=info:sid/gale:AONE&ctx_enc=info:ofi:enc:UTF-8&rft_val_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:journal&rft.atitle=Consequences+of+crown+shortening+canine+teeth+in+Greenland+sled+dogs.&rft.issue=4&rft.volume=56rn

The search methods ISSN (rft.issn, for periodicals) and ISBN (rft.isbn, for books) return information about the publication.

Different products support different search methods. Selecting a product from the link below will provide you with detailed information about which methods the product supports as well as the option to create an OpenURL template.
