Duration: 30 Minutes
[00:00:04.000]
Alright, good afternoon and welcome everyone. I'm Stacey and I, your Gale Trainer from New Jersey.
[00:00:09.000]
Thanks for joining me for our Gale Presents Peterson's test and career Prep resources for junior and high schoolers.
[00:00:15.000]
The lads you could be with me this afternoon to take a look at our Petersen's resource and how you can use it to help the junior high and senior high students or high school students in your welcome in your service areas at your schools at your libraries and wherever you need to.
[00:00:34.000]
As we go through, feel free to use the chat or the QA with any questions or also product feedback.
[00:00:37.000]
You can see Michael shared in the chat. We want you, to hopefully give us your feedback in that training survey as well.
[00:00:48.000]
So. Lots of ways to share information with us today. When we wrap up, I'll be sharing your contact info for us at Gale as well so you can reach out to us with questions.
[00:00:53.000]
So no shortage of places to go for help during the session, but also after. So let's go ahead and take a look at our agenda.
[00:01:02.000]
It's pretty straightforward. Going to give you a quick reminder about what Peterson's is and then jump in there and share the tools that are going to suit your junior and senior high schoolers best.
[00:01:14.000]
And again, we'll wrap up with support from Gale. So if there's anything in particular you want to see, feel free to share that in the chat.
[00:01:18.000]
And I'll be sure to include that in the session as well. Or again, can use the QA, whichever you prefer.
[00:01:28.000]
So as a reminder, Gale presents Peterson's testing career prep. Let's talk a little bit about what it can do for you for all of your users.
[00:01:37.000]
This is a partner product for us. Gale, you can, see, Ben and Gale presents and in the Peterson's name.
[00:01:44.000]
So I remember using these back when I was at the reference desk in the public library, although it was all books and we had trouble keeping them on the shelves, keeping them in good shape, and even just keeping them in the library.
[00:01:55.000]
Sometimes they didn't come back. So great to have all of this content available online for used by your users.
[00:02:02.000]
So it's Going to allow folks to build a resume, search for a new career. Practice taking exams, help find the perfect school.
[00:02:11.000]
It does it again, a lot of those things that those books you may have used in the past help as well.
[00:02:15.000]
There's lots of good advice in there too if you're going on a job interview you want to negotiate salary you are creating a resume for the first time there's lots of advice help within the resource too it also underwent a big interface change late last year in 2023 so it's also underwent a big interface change late last year and in 2023 so it may look a little different than the
[00:02:39.000]
last time you were in it we think it's got a lot of great improvements I think it's much easier to find what you need and navigate to content it goes from kind of a task oriented point of view to get you into the content you need also added to new features the interface is now available in Spanish there's some Spanish language content coming as well I don't have a date for you on that but Just to
[00:02:59.000]
show, you know, we're never done with our resources at Gale. We end with our partner products.
[00:03:05.000]
We're always looking to improve. So again, really helpful to have your feedback, when you, care to give it.
[00:03:10.000]
So. Let me point out a couple areas we're going to focus on for our junior and senior high school students.
[00:03:11.000]
So this is a great resource to help them prep for high school exams. Certainly, you know, something like an AP exam, but then there are also just some subject oriented exams if students want to brush up, some skills for say their social studies class or something.
[00:03:30.000]
You've got some tools there, certainly could be made part of say a tutorial program. Great resource to have, for your students.
[00:03:39.000]
They're also question banks and tutorials to help brush up on foundational skills. So if kids need a little extra help with say in math or science or their LA class, you've got some places they can do some extra work and maybe build up those skills a little to help them prep for exams or just for work in the classroom.
[00:03:59.000]
And then of course being able to search and find their next step after high school? Are they headed to college or they had a right to a career?
[00:04:07.000]
There are tools that can help them assess and find what career might be best for them. And then should that need to agree, the, a way to find a school that can help get them that degree and, and suit their, their needs in terms of, oh, where they want to be in school.
[00:04:22.000]
So we're going to look at those targeted areas. Do let me know again if there's something else you want to look at outside of those through the chat in the Q&A, but I think we're ready to go ahead and dive in.
[00:04:32.000]
I am just Going to disable my oh sorry I was forget my animations there so we're Going to we're Going to stick to these 4 areas here on the, on the homepage.
[00:04:42.000]
So I have been a disabled my video just so it doesn't interfere when I'm showing you around the database.
[00:04:47.000]
I'm Going to go ahead and stop that and we'll pop in to the resource.
[00:04:54.000]
Alright, so again, we have a redesign of the homepage.
[00:05:11.000]
Late last year so for some of you this may be the first time you're getting eyes on it since we've had that update. One, I think it's more modern.
[00:05:19.000]
I think it's just a little more appealing. But 2 again, it's very task oriented as you come into the resource right off the homepage at the top. The first thing you
[00:05:32.000]
Peterson's resource is going to be tracking things that we're interested in. It's going to keep track of our test scores, things like that. And users do need to create an account to take advantage of all of the features.
[00:05:39.000]
So it's probably to log in right away. You can also get to that from course in the upper right hand corner because you can't browse around a bit
[00:05:47.000]
There is handy too, but.
[00:05:51.000]
Right
[00:05:54.000]
We need
[00:06:02.000]
Want to do that. You can also go get a quick look at the types of tools that are available.
[00:06:11.000]
So even just with browse menu, and I especially However, I really love the new task oriented.
[00:06:24.000]
Tool buttons here to guide you to different places in the resource. So we're actually going to take advantage of those when we start
[00:06:25.000]
Into the content. But just to show you around the homepage a bit more, it's also giving you more info about what you can do here.
[00:06:28.000]
So you can improve your chess core, it gives an example of some of the most popular test practice tests that we have available.
[00:06:33.000]
A lot of those are going to come with eBook support as well. Share some of the vocational test Prep again some of the more popular areas And then the career.
[00:06:44.000]
Schools and then finding a school or a scholarship. And we've implemented a new feature to let you set a goal and keep track of your resources.
[00:06:52.000]
So again, some new bells and whistles with this interface to come along that we'll be exploring as well.
[00:06:57.000]
And then just there at the very bottom, just a quick kind of quick start to get you to some of the different places in the resource.
[00:07:00.000]
So few different ways to get into the content. Now I am Going to go ahead and log in so I can show you some of the work I've done ahead of time.
[00:07:14.000]
Now I am going to use my regular account but let me show you what it takes to log in. Particularly when we're working with people under 18.
[00:07:19.000]
I always like to talk about this. Because we're gathering some personal information here. We're asking for an email address so you can reset your password should you forget it but You can sign up without an email address too.
[00:07:34.000]
So folks are not interested in sharing that information. That's fine. They can still create a user account.
[00:07:38.000]
It is again easier to reset your password if you've given us your email address but again not required.
[00:07:48.000]
I will say though too we don't do anything with that email address. It is just to create your account and reset your password.
[00:07:53.000]
It isn't used for any sort of marketing by Gale or Peterson's. But it is.
[00:08:00.000]
Handy, but again, don't have to do it. You have the option to sign up without an email address.
[00:08:06.000]
And you have unlimited use of this resource so feel free to create an account to play around with.
[00:08:07.000]
If you like. We always, encourage folks to get in there and get their hands dirty, when they're working in, the library so they have a sense of, you know, how they can take advantage of it and share it with their users.
[00:08:24.000]
So I'm Going to again just log into my, general account here so I can show you some of the work I've done ahead.
[00:08:33.000]
Here we go. So. You just know then I get access to my account. Actually, let me pop in there quickly so I can show you the new.
[00:08:37.000]
Tools. Oh, Oh no, I'm sorry. I wanted, sorry, still getting used to the new interface myself.
[00:08:50.000]
I want to show you the My Resources button here right here on the homepage. In there and see the things that I'm keeping track of so I can quickly jump back in here and jump into, you know, the scholarships that I'm interested in, the jobs I may be interested in so on.
[00:09:04.000]
So. Really handy there the new my resources button let's get into the content though so again we're Going to focus on these 4 buttons here to the left so we have I think a nice way to browse around and see what's here, but it's also really easy to get to the thing you know you want to get to.
[00:09:20.000]
So if we go into prep for exam what it's going to start to do now is. Ask questions.
[00:09:28.000]
So what type of exam are we interested in? Is it high school prep? Is it college prep? And then you just get prompted until you land to that list of contents.
[00:09:36.000]
I'm Going to go into high school, And again, I'd always like to point out, oh, no, I'm sorry.
[00:09:44.000]
Wanted to start with brush up on finding well you know what we'll just go on this order so these are of course tests we may take in high school so advanced placement the list of tests that are available here is really grown over time and will continue to that's again where our customer feedback comes into play.
[00:10:01.000]
So you'll see each of the tools available so we can see advanced placement for environmental science biology and we land on the practice test if there are articles that go along to help support this test or if there are books.
[00:10:15.000]
The e-book, tool as well. You'll see those listed here on separate tabs.
[00:10:19.000]
There's also an about button so we can learn a little more about the test. Those drawings out so I can click.
[00:10:29.000]
So the e-book is just a PDF. You can download that again, unlimited use.
[00:10:30.000]
Download it, take a look at it. The thing I like about the e-book is of course it helps you study for and kind of learn how to take the test.
[00:10:39.000]
So it's a really great.
[00:10:43.000]
To help. Prepare for the exam and many of them also often their own sample questions or even an entire practice test within the book.
[00:10:54.000]
However, the nice benefit of, Peterson's test and career prep is that we have
[00:10:57.000]
Wow.
[00:11:05.000]
Those advanced, or AP or any number of practice tests we can take advantage of. So when you click to go into the practice test, they're all going to follow a pretty similar format.
[00:11:17.000]
The homepage for the exam will offer often an introduction, maybe even a bit of a study guide, and then the practice tests that are available.
[00:11:19.000]
And again, I'm just in an AP exam here. They'll all really again follow this format.
[00:11:24.000]
So it's pretty easy to navigate and take advantage of different. Exams they all will work similarly.
[00:11:31.000]
And if it is a time test in real life, it will be a time test in the practice.
[00:11:36.000]
Get a little info here before you.
[00:11:38.000]
Okay, so we dive right in. And I apologize, folks, you might be hearing a train in the background and here the train tracks and.
[00:11:55.000]
Let's manage to go by when I'm on. So here we have our exam and it's built kind of like it's almost on paper.
[00:11:57.000]
If you look to the left, I can see the pages that I'll be working through, multiple questions per page and.
[00:12:09.000]
I am probably not going to do too well on my calculus exam here by randomly selecting answers, but I do want to show you how simple this.
[00:12:16.000]
You can
[00:12:17.000]
And change an answer if I want to jump back to the first question. So maybe I want to review my work.
[00:12:24.000]
I've got a little time left It doesn't submit anything until you choose to submit. So even as I move through the pages, it's automatically saving all of this work.
[00:12:34.000]
It isn't going to submit it until I click this submit quiz button so I can just move to the next page.
[00:12:41.000]
No, I like to again if we look at the navigation here to the around the center of the page, to the left of the exam, you get a little check mark when you've answered the question.
[00:12:50.000]
So you can do a quick stand there, see if you've missed anything.
[00:12:53.000]
And I'm not Going to go through the whole exam. Let's pretend I've ended here and I'm going to submit quiz.
[00:12:58.000]
I want to see how I've done. Now it's Going to award me that I missed a bunch of questions.
[00:13:03.000]
So again, just so we can do that a visual check over on the left and look at those questions and make sure we've got the checkbox, but it's also Going to double check for you.
[00:13:11.000]
Now, I wouldn't of course recommend this, but I'm still going to go ahead and submit.
[00:13:18.000]
And immediately you're able to review your work. So you can. Take a look at the answers you've given and again, surprisingly I haven't done too well there by randomly selecting my answers.
[00:13:29.000]
But you can see the feedback there for each of your answers. You kind of know where you went wrong.
[00:13:37.000]
Can more than one student access these practice tests at a time. Great question. Yes, any number of people can be using these practice tests at the same time.
[00:13:46.000]
So if like maybe we're in an A/C calculus class, their teacher wants to share with them that this is available.
[00:13:48.000]
All the kids can get in here. To build on that, a question that often comes up. Along these lines is when students have taken a test, is there a way for their teacher or maybe a guidance counselor or someone to see how they've done.
[00:14:03.000]
There really isn't. The user account is strictly for that user that they create. So what I would recommend is printing out the result page and sharing that with a teacher that have the student print out their result page and share that with the teacher.
[00:14:21.000]
And there are some, we go back to the practice task. There are some tools here in the class progress, the, and things like that.
[00:14:29.000]
They can be a little bit more of a report. But again, the student would have to do that and then share it with their teacher.
[00:14:31.000]
So down the road we hope to offer some sort of functionality where scores can kind of be shared with the teacher in a different way but for right now it's got to be a little bit more of a manual process.
[00:14:46.000]
So just to kind of head off, maybe should that question have been lingering in your minds about them.
[00:14:52.000]
So let me pop back. I do want to share some of the other. The AP exams are popular but I did want to speak a bit to the.
[00:15:00.000]
I'm sorry.
[00:15:05.000]
Sorry, folks, I'm clicking around here a little bit. Did want to share a couple of the other, high school prop, the subject test that I mentioned, high school subject tests.
[00:15:14.000]
So just to give you a quick look here, chemistry, literature, math, again. If maybe we've got some kids with test anxiety or again, maybe want to brush up on some skills.
[00:15:24.000]
These are some low-stakes way, ways they can do that. Again, just on their own time and go through, you know, the world history practice test and take advantage.
[00:15:34.000]
You've also got exams. Sorry, I am. We're getting on my short bits here.
[00:15:42.000]
You've also got exams for college for. So SAT and ACT have maybe come down a bit and requirements to apply for college, but a lot of schools still are.
[00:15:53.000]
You've also got CLEP exam crop here so students can maybe replace things there with their knowledge instead of them to take the course they can get credit for it if they score well on the task.
[00:16:03.000]
You've got PSAT exams, so a variety of these here. Let's go ahead and pop into the ACT.
[00:16:06.000]
The other thing I like to point out for both the ACT and the SAT, there is an online course available.
[00:16:17.000]
This is on demand. So. For kids who may be, you know, certainly I in high school had a job and there wasn't a lot of time.
[00:16:27.000]
So this is something I could have done in my off hours, you know, on maybe a Saturday morning if I hadn't been at work I could pop in and do this online course for the ACT at my own pace.
[00:16:38.000]
So they often again. Like we saw with the practice test themselves are Going to offer this kind of layout so you can jump in almost like we're looking at table of contents for the online course.
[00:16:49.000]
You don't have to do it in order. You could say jump right into the vocabulary and study that section but again a great way for students who maybe aren't able to take a course or maybe can't afford to take one to take advantage of some of the coursework here in the resource.
[00:17:06.000]
Is there content related to international baccalaureate courses? I don't. I think we do and I'm trying to remember if that's been on our List at all.
[00:17:18.000]
Let me just pop it. I want to double check.
[00:17:23.000]
Let me pop into the menu here.
[00:17:27.000]
Jump back into the, I just want to look at this, Oh, those are entrance exams. No, we don't have any IV content.
[00:17:36.000]
Let me pass that along too.
[00:17:41.000]
Our product managers. That's a great suggestion.
[00:17:45.000]
Okay, I did want to pop into to the brush up on foundational skills. Share that. Oh, and I apologize.
[00:17:54.000]
I should mention if I'm Going to get an answer for you all, of course I'll share that with you when I when I get it back from our product manager.
[00:18:01.000]
Okay, the foundational skills. These are Going to be. Question banks and tutorials to go along with math and science, reading and writing and computers.
[00:18:12.000]
So what's great about these is they go down to sixth grade. So again, this is a tool you can make use of with your junior high students, your middle schoolers, and are able to take advantage of these, you know, brushing up a foundational skills.
[00:18:25.000]
So maybe as they're prepping to take other exams or maybe just need a little, you know, almost like, tutor help along those lines there are question banks and again you know very low weight low stakes way of doing this go through the questions at their own pace get an explanation for you know things they may have gotten wrong and then the 2 tutorials are available as well and you'll see these are kind of
[00:18:48.000]
set up like the ACT course that I popped into. Same idea. So as you are moving through the resource as your students are moving through the resource as your patrons are moving through, it's really easy to get comfortable with all of this content.
[00:19:01.000]
So. Those are really handy as well.
[00:19:08.000]
Yeah, sorry, because I've got a few tabs open here. Alright, let me check my list here.
[00:19:15.000]
I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything I wanted to share with you. Good shape. Alright, so lots of exam Prep and those 2, tools as well as again, building on foundational skills, maybe for an exam or just in general.
[00:19:29.000]
Well, let's take a look at flying to school or scholarship. Now, These are. Really handy tools for everybody nowadays.
[00:19:38.000]
College is not getting cheaper in general. So that scholarship search tool is really handy. The school search tool is Going to help you find your perfect place.
[00:19:47.000]
We even offer support for financial aid. There are some handy college planning centers too, lots of great advice articles and things along those lines.
[00:19:57.000]
Let's take a look first at the school search. So this has gotten really streamlined. It used to be we have links to 5 or 6 different school searches.
[00:20:04.000]
We've really slim that down and made it much more. Targeted. If you look over on the left, these are all the things you're going to be able to filter your results by, but there's also just a general search up top.
[00:20:20.000]
So if you know the name of a school you're interested or maybe even the name of the program you're interested in you can just throw that into the keyword search and then filter by all of these tools.
[00:20:29.000]
The one thing to be aware of and again if you're mostly working with junior and high school students.
[00:20:35.000]
Our default is pretty handy. We're already set to just search undergraduate schools. We do have the option to switch it to a graduate school search.
[00:20:43.000]
So maybe for, again, if you work in a school, or, of course in the library, folks are after a graduate degree, of course, take advantage of this too.
[00:20:53.000]
So I can click. And if you use the filters, just the filters over on the left, that's kind of my favorite way to approach this.
[00:21:03.000]
If you go in, you just kind of click open each of the little plus signs here to see how you can search and say for example area study if I'm looking for a biology degree.
[00:21:12.000]
As you start to type it will filter and let you choose from the list. I'll always say just a general biology degree.
[00:21:19.000]
Over on the right, it filters and shows the schools that have that program, which of course is going to be a lot, right?
[00:21:25.000]
But we've got all these other things we can pick and look for based on our own preferences.
[00:21:26.000]
So if I open up setting, I can choose do I want to be in a suburban area?
[00:21:34.000]
Do I mean an urban rural small town just a click? And it's Going to filter and show you the schools that match up.
[00:21:42.000]
So you can always though, let's actually go ahead and take advantage of this as you are making those choices over on the left up top it showing you what you're filtering by.
[00:21:48.000]
So if you decide one of these isn't something you want to isolate to I'm going to go ahead and say maybe get rid of.
[00:21:56.000]
Urban. So. I can make some other choices for example if I want to go to school in state.
[00:22:00.000]
I love that in state tuition. I love that in state tuition. And I don't want to limit myself by, you know, urban or suburban or world anymore.
[00:22:12.000]
I can isolate and there we have all our schools in New Jersey who are Going to have a biology major.
[00:22:16.000]
And you can continue to narrow this down. So program length, in mission difficulty, you can really find your perfect setting.
[00:22:24.000]
Tuition, always an important one. If they have a minimum required GPA or SAT or ACT score.
[00:22:29.000]
All of these available and of course if you're familiar with the books that Peterson's puts out about these a lot of this will be, you know, familiar information.
[00:22:40.000]
And when you find a school that looks good, you can always jump in and get more details. So some quick visuals here at the top.
[00:22:48.000]
You know, looking at total students have a nice these nice icons to go around we could go along with it so this is a suburban setting tuition leading off the page as well.
[00:22:58.000]
And then get into the details, what's the makeup of the student body. We've got a gallery.
[00:23:03.000]
Looks like we haven't pulled any images for this university, but can see the majors and degrees and so on.
[00:23:09.000]
And if a school looks good to you, save to my schools. It's going to go to that my resources section that I shared before.
[00:23:17.000]
Right and that way I can always kind of keep this one in the back of my mind and grab it right from my resources there on the homepage.
[00:23:25.000]
Or in the upper right hand corner here.
[00:23:30.000]
Now, along with that school search, right? Tuition, pretty happy here. Let's go ahead and see if we can find a scholarship to go along with it.
[00:23:40.000]
So the scholarship search is actually Going to work very similarly. It's the same idea. We're showing you all of the scholarships to start and then over on the left hand side you can filter by their specifics.
[00:23:47.000]
So if we open this up a bit. I can again search here by. Where did they go?
[00:24:00.000]
Looking for my, area study there we are. So if I'm, you know, there are some scholarships out there for biology students and select that.
[00:24:08.000]
And again, it just filters it right down. And then I can narrow further. So. You need to live in a particular state to get that scholarship.
[00:24:17.000]
Do you? Have to study in that state, you've got the options for gender, ethnicity, school type.
[00:24:26.000]
Award amount type of award. You've got all of these options again to filter so we could choose something like, Going to attend a four-year college.
[00:24:37.000]
And there we have a few. Scholarships I might be eligible for and if I pop in Again, just like the school descriptions, you did get a description of that scholarship or.
[00:24:47.000]
Fellowship, forgivable loan, that type of thing, whatever the option may be. And again, can save to my scholarships.
[00:24:57.000]
And keep that right in my resources. So I don't have to search for it again. It's going to keep track of all of that.
[00:25:04.000]
So again, great programs, certainly for undergrad, but again, keep this in mind if you have any friends who are considering Brad school has a graduate school.
[00:25:17.000]
And then the last thing I want to share, so. Certainly escapes are in junior high and as they get into senior high they are thinking about what they're Going to do after school, right?
[00:25:26.000]
So are they head of right for a career? Are they headed to college? You've got some career tools that can help them find what they may be well suited for.
[00:25:34.000]
We go into the career options. There is, again, I mentioned all these different advice sections, so you'll come up as needed.
[00:25:41.000]
However, I'm Going to pop into the find a career. Oh, you know, before I do that, let me just mention this.
[00:25:46.000]
As we're getting a little close on time here wanted to mention the resume builder here so as I mentioned I had a job in high school.
[00:25:53.000]
I mentioned a lot of kids still do that. So if they're looking to build a resume there's a great tool to help them do that.
[00:25:59.000]
So we'll dig into that a little bit, more on one of our other webinars, but just a reminder, it's there really easy to use.
[00:26:03.000]
But find a career, right? So if we know what we want to do. We're in good shape, but let's say we don't.
[00:26:12.000]
So this is Going to offer us a career assessment. And what I really like about it is there are really 4 assessments tied to this career assessment.
[00:26:22.000]
The, your interests, your values, your personality and your workplace preferences. So it's not just a, hey, would you like to do this as a job?
[00:26:30.000]
Yes or no, it goes a lot deeper than that. It tries to figure out, you know, do you like to work with people?
[00:26:32.000]
Do you, what kind of workplace are you interested in? Do you want to work remotely?
[00:26:40.000]
So it asks a lot of questions.
[00:26:43.000]
And gives a really thorough result. You don't have to take all 4 assessments. You do have to take the first 2 assessment, for interest and assessment for values.
[00:26:53.000]
These 2 are required. You can skip the other 2, but I do think it's a valuable to take advantage of them.
[00:27:00.000]
The other thing I like is there is of course in these assessments some, you know. Multiple choice kind of yes and no answers but you also for example on this one get some a scale dancer so a breeze strongly agree on sure the other one I like and I'm Going to go ahead and exit.
[00:27:18.000]
Back in the workplace preferences. It's like you create this grid. What's important to you in the ideal organization you want to work in and you select for and then what's most important when you select for so it really is a bit more of a thinker but it's a bit more engaging it's not just you know checking boxes off so I think they are.
[00:27:35.000]
Really handy. Now once you've taken the assessment, you'll get matched up with career matches here over on the right.
[00:27:45.000]
So this will show you. What you may be well sort of suited for based on your assessment doesn't mean you have to explore what's what it's listed as, but you still get access to the entire career bank, the entire job bank and explaining all the different careers.
[00:27:57.000]
But it's showing you what you might be well suited for. So for mine, Secretary, education, there are 42 careers where I might be very strong.
[00:28:09.000]
One career I might be kind of weak. As you scroll down, you can see all these different kind of industry areas.
[00:28:16.000]
And where you land in them, but you have access to everything, whether you were strong or not, you can explore any of these.
[00:28:21.000]
And as you go in and view those careers, it gives you all those details. So, what you would do in that job.
[00:28:30.000]
Hi, what sort of degree it may take, the average salary you might have. You can even from here branch out and search for jobs.
[00:28:39.000]
And if the other thing I like to share here.
[00:28:47.000]
Is these, let me scroll to the bottom here, it's kind of these C also. And that send you elsewhere to find out more.
[00:28:53.000]
So you kind of get the bullet list information here, but you can go out and find more info from these recommended sites that they're sharing.
[00:29:02.000]
So over on the left, when you are viewing the job bank, results, if you are a recurving for me.
[00:29:09.000]
If you look over on the left, one of the things that allows you to do is filter that list of jobs.
[00:29:15.000]
So if I am maybe interested in business management and administration, but I don't have a degree yet.
[00:29:22.000]
Well, what might I be well suited for with a high school or equivalent. So maybe this is what I could do while I'm pursuing a degree.
[00:29:30.000]
So it's almost like this ladder of here are jobs that are similar to what you ultimately want to do.
[00:29:36.000]
But we'll give you some experience in the area that you're interested in. So always good to help build up that resume, right?
[00:29:42.000]
So the education and experience is really. A handy tool. You also have the option to take a look at the military crosswalk from here.
[00:29:51.000]
So again, maybe that's so much for your junior and senior high school students, but I do always like to mention it considering the different military installations in New Jersey.
[00:29:59.000]
So. Pointing that out, we'll explore some of these in some of our other sessions a little further.
[00:30:04.000]
So the career assessments really handy way to kind of get kids to see maybe what they might be interested in for their ultimate job.
[00:30:12.000]
So those were the areas I wanted to share. Let me just double check the chat and the QA, see if anything has come up, anything else you might want to explore.
[00:30:21.000]
But again, you have unlimited use of this resource, so feel free to create an account just to play around with and take advantage of the features and have a look around.
[00:30:30.000]
When you've got questions, you can of course always reach out to your Gale team and take advantage of our support materials out on our support site.
[00:30:34.000]
So if you visit support that yale.com slash NJSL. You'll have access to all of these materials.
[00:30:40.000]
I've given screenshots for, but so much more. We've got actually training deck.
[00:30:49.000]
So if you want to kind of turn key this training and go out and share it with maybe your guidance counselor or even students we've got PowerPoint that you can take advantage of.
[00:30:55.000]
We have recorded webinars, tip sheets. So if you want to little hand out to go around that training and then lots of great marketing materials.
[00:31:05.000]
No need to recreate the wheel. We've got a lot of this stuff already out there ready for you to go.
[00:31:10.000]
Also on our support site are ways you can kind of broaden the reach of this resource. We've created subject have the links.
[00:31:18.000]
So if maybe you've got a live guide out there for job searchers or maybe for seniors in high school and you want to point to some resources, you can point them to the various subject hubs within the resource, which are basically those pages that show you all the tools that are available for, you know, AP exams and things like that.
[00:31:36.000]
We also have those available as mark records so someone comes into your catalog and searches for ACT prep they get a link right to.
[00:31:45.000]
Computers and testing career. Same thing for the e-books. We've created mark records for those as well so they could get pointed to the e-book in the resource.
[00:31:54.000]
So lots of ways to help your users discover this content, maybe coming from different areas of your library.
[00:32:02.000]
And then again, questions about any of the things I've shown you today or feedback you have for us, you can always feel for you reach out to your Yale team.
[00:32:10.000]
I'm your trainer. If I'm not the person who has the answer, I know who to go to get it.
[00:32:16.000]
You can also reach out your customer success manager at Gale and they can help you with say the mark records or the subject hub URLs, things like that.
[00:32:25.000]
They're a great group of folks. Go ahead, actually. Let me just put a little. I'm Going to put an X through our survey because I do want you to take the one that Michael has shared in in the chat.
[00:32:36.000]
So rather than have you fill out to go ahead and take advantage of the one that Michael has shared in the chat and ignore our training session survey.
[00:32:41.000]
And I will see if I can get that feedback from Michael. So do feel free to get in touch with your Dale team.
[00:32:51.000]
You have no shortage of places to go for help both from your friends at Kale but also at the at the state library.
[00:32:54.000]
So. Let me see, I think I've got something in the channel. How do we request the mark records for the test for book?
[00:33:02.000]
So actually you don't have to request them. You can generate them yourselves. If you want a little health kind of walking you through it, that's who I reach out to as you're actually Going to bring that slide back up, your customer success manager, Gale, I'm Going to send a follow up email to everybody.
[00:33:18.000]
You'll get it tomorrow afternoon around this time. That has all this contact info and some handy links.
[00:33:25.000]
But let me just show you quickly. I'm going to go out to our support site. And I'm Going to go to the one that we have created for New Jersey because when you land on this support site, you select your library from the list.
[00:33:38.000]
And then what it does is customize the support page to your library and that's Going to be really handy particularly if you're interested in those mark records.
[00:33:43.000]
So if you visit, if you click on the product name here, it will take you to the product support site.
[00:33:53.000]
And I think we have, yes, right there on this. I was thinking they were here. Just wanted to be sure.
[00:33:58.000]
We have the list of mark records that are available for Peterson's testing career perhaps. So there's the eBook.
[00:34:06.000]
What's great about this is since I signed in as my library to the support page that download is going to give an 8 56 tag that will take you to that eBook in your collection and kind of it will capture that usage for your library.
[00:34:21.000]
The subject have records are here too. So to get you to, again, those pages that list all the different tools.
[00:34:27.000]
And then we put these out every other month or so. Although it looks like we haven't, oh no, we did in November. Okay.
[00:34:34.000]
Oh, maybe we don't do it quite as often as I thought. Oh, you know what?
[00:34:37.000]
I apologize. I think Peterson does it as needed. Some of our other resources get an update every month with.
[00:34:43.000]
The content that goes into, Peterson's, it's a bit more of a regular schedule.
[00:34:48.000]
So we just do it as needed. So we have those update. So we have those update ones as well.
[00:34:51.000]
So you've already loaded the records. So if you've already loaded the records and a few months later there's a new update.
[00:34:59.000]
So you can generate them yourselves or again if you want a little help walking you through how to do this and again reach right out to your customer success manager at Gale and they're happy to walk you through that.
[00:35:12.000]
Let me check the chat. Good shape. Oh, good. And thank you, Michael.
[00:35:19.000]
And share the, the evaluation there again. So folks, go ahead and take advantage of that. The Gale survey may open automatically when you leave the webinar, just go ahead and close right out of it.
[00:35:29.000]
Again, take the advantage of that evaluation that Michael has shared. So. I will say thank you and let you log it down with the rest of your day. I apologize.
[00:35:36.000]
We ran a little over. There's always something more I want to show you. So I should engage my time a little better.
[00:35:39.000]
This is my first webinar in the in the new year. So, sometimes I maybe slipped a little during the break there. So thanks all for tuning in.
[00:35:52.000]
Do feel free to reach out with questions anytime. And again, you'll get my follow up email around this time tomorrow.
[00:35:57.000]
Have a link to the recording and all those handy links I talked about as well as. Again, our contact info.
[00:36:05.000]
So thanks all. Appreciate you tune it in. Have a great rest of the day.
