Welcome to our training session empowering libraries equity of access with the Washington State Library Resources.

[00:00:11.000]
This scale training is for WLA, 2,024. My name is Tammy Burke.

[00:00:17.000]
I'm your senior trainer. If you have any questions, please use the Whova app.

[00:00:21.000]
I will be monitoring that throughout the day. And we'll be happy to answer any questions that you may have after today's or after viewing today's session.

[00:00:31.000]
We will be the focus of today's training is to share access to the Gale resources from the Washington State Library.

[00:00:34.000]
We will view the diverse content, talk about the tools to support accessibility, and ways to share that information.

[00:00:47.000]
If you have any questions, please use the Whova app. But with that, let's get started and take a look at our brief agenda.

[00:00:54.000]
We'll start first with an overview of all the Gale resources that you have access to. And then we will spend the majority of our time exploring the content, tools, features, and functionality of the resources.

[00:01:01.000]
Any questions that you have, again, please use the Whova app. I will leave you today with where you can go for training materials and contact information.

[00:01:09.000]
You do have one-on-one support at Gale, and I'll leave you with their information today.

[00:01:20.000]
First and foremost, how do you access the Washington State Library resources? You can go to the support site and I will show this to you at the start of our session on one we go live into the products.

[00:01:32.000]
But you can go to the site and find your library. In the dropdown menu. So what it'll look like is this once you access that link.

[00:01:42.000]
And then you would find your library name once you click proceed it would take you to all of your accessible links and these are the direct links that you can use.

[00:01:52.000]
And on your either if you're using a library website or lip guides but we also have a complementary Gale page resource site that I will share with you today.

[00:02:03.000]
So you can take a look at that, which is a great point of access. For all of our users.

[00:02:09.000]
And like I said, it's complementary. It can be customized. I'm going to share with you Washington State Library scale page today.

[00:02:17.000]
So let's first talk about the Gale resources that you have available. I'm supporting our K 12 classrooms and homework help and higher ed, you have the full that's in context suite, which is multidisciplinary, multi-source type databases covering elementary, middle, and high school, and also college studies.

[00:02:32.000]
We have Gale In Context Elementary, Gale In Context Middle School, and Gale In Context High School.

[00:02:44.000]
You also have Gale In Context College and then Gale In Context Global Issues.

[00:02:50.000]
Along those same lines with K 12, we have Gale one file high school addition. This is periodical content designed for our high school students.

[00:02:59.000]
And then you also have Gale Literature Lip Finder. Lit Finder has full-text poems, short story, speeches, inaugural speeches, we have some novels of available within Gale Literature Lit Finder.

[00:03:12.000]
So this is a great one that is used at the high school level, but also at the higher ed or college level.

[00:03:21.000]
The next group of resources I want to talk to you about is your periodical content. And these are great periodical and academic journals.

[00:03:29.000]
So these periodicals are scholarly, scholarly journals and popular magazines and are featured in our 2 primary periodical databases.

[00:03:33.000]
Academic one file and general one file, which you will find over 16,000 full-text titles, but we call these 3 the big 3.

[00:03:48.000]
So you have general one file, academic one file and Gale one file news. You will find for our higher ed folks the Academic One file is cross.

[00:03:58.000]
Discipline, but you will also, find quite a few that this has the majority of our academic journals are going to be found in academic one files.

[00:04:06.000]
So if you're looking for those peer reviewed academic journals, then I do highly suggest you take a look at academic one file.

[00:04:15.000]
It's also good for our high school students that need that. Next level of information. It's a great resource for them.

[00:04:17.000]
Our general one file is our largest general cross cross cross subject or cross-curricular information you're going to find again all periodical content but it is has our largest amount of information across all subject areas.

[00:04:42.000]
And then a few others I wanted to mention today. One we are going to go into and that is Gale one file in Former Academical.

[00:04:50.000]
And this is full of Portuguese and Spanish publications. Also periodical content, anything in the one file family will be periodical content.

[00:05:01.000]
And then for our teachers or future teachers, we have Gale One file educators reference complete. Great research starter is Gale ebooks.

[00:05:11.000]
You have a nice Gale ebook collection from the Washington State Library. And then you have all of our subsets of collections in the One File family, like you have a computer science and psychology and health and medicine, which I'm going to talk about next.

[00:05:21.000]
So you have all of those sub collections that are also available, great for our public libraries. And also our academic students and academic libraries.

[00:05:40.000]
Here's a few that I mentioned a few just previously, but for our health and medicine suite, you're going to find resources for patron health and wellness and also medical professionals and students.

[00:05:53.000]
Gale has been building our health sciences collection with scholarly information for medical professionals and health researchers.

[00:06:00.000]
We've expanded the collection with additional areas in nursing, PT, and psychology. Our consumer health resources, which is health and wellness, are easy to use and provide current health information for everyone.

[00:06:16.000]
Our business resources that you have available, this suite of resources includes scale business insights. Great for business profiles, SWOT analysis, financial reports.

[00:06:28.000]
You're also going to find industry information and a global look at businesses. With our business information for academic researchers as well as patrons following business trends, stocks and investments, market reports and as I mentioned those company profiles but also company reports and so much more.

[00:06:49.000]
Gale business entrepreneurship and Gale, Gale one file business. Gale business entrepreneurship is a great one for our students.

[00:06:58.000]
Studying business but also for our small business owners, our entrepreneurs, our potential small business owners and one file business is that periodical content.

[00:07:04.000]
Remember, it's in that one file family. G one file business is looking more at the industry information.

[00:07:16.000]
You're going to find great periodical content. They're focused on business.

[00:07:23.000]
I want to talk to you a little bit about the Gale interface and the accessibility tools.

[00:07:31.000]
You have and I wanna talk about these first and then we're going to, I'm going to model them for you in the resources themselves.

[00:07:34.000]
To share content, you have the get link tool, the ability to share to classroom, Google classroom. And you can, your users can also send content directly to Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive, very easy to keep this information in a safe place where they can access it later.

[00:07:55.000]
We have great tools to support accessibility. Translate, font size, listen and display options.

[00:08:02.000]
And this provides options for our learners with varied needs and this is something we're focusing on today because we are talking about supporting diverse communities.

[00:08:11.000]
And fostering, fostering that equitable access and inclusion. So these tools are very important to today's training and we will spend some time taking a look at those and talking about how they can support your users.

[00:08:19.000]
Highlights and notes is a great tool. We aren't going to touch into that today, but I did want to mention it.

[00:08:28.000]
It's great for promoting that deeper learning, color coding annotation. It's a great tool available within all of your Gale resources.

[00:08:37.000]
And then some tools to help our users find content. Again, when we talk about equitable access, we want all of our users to be able to find content.

[00:08:45.000]
So what we've done is we've organized that content into topic pages. Which you will find on your in context resources.

[00:08:49.000]
Also academic one file and general one file, gale business entrepreneurship and health and wellness all have those topic pages a little different from each other, but that organization or curated content on a certain subjects which really helps support our users of all varying needs.

[00:09:12.000]
Topic Finder is a visual and interactive tool to help find content. And then our citation tool is automatically there for everyone to use and all of the reefs or all the content available, all the documents all have the citation attached already to those documents.

[00:09:32.000]
The Gale interface, so let's talk a little bit about the Gale interface and we're taking a look at Gale In Context Elementary.

[00:09:39.000]
And I'm just going to click through these as you can see some of those homepages of your resources that you have access to, but Gale resources are built on a common platform, which when you're talking about equitable access, this is a very helpful and powerful tool because they are on a common platform.

[00:09:50.000]
But we do recognize that each resource needs a different feature from elementary to higher ed. So Gale explores resources that are the gale resources that you will see have user friendly, intuitive and accessible.

[00:10:10.000]
They are accessible for everyone. They really truly are. You'll find curated content, tools and features in these resources to support classroom learning to supplement curriculums and encourage learning at any level.

[00:10:25.000]
And we talked about this one already. So let's talk about our topic pages. They're curated collections of information on a specific topic.

[00:10:34.000]
And their multi-level topic overviews. You'll also find multiple reading levels available on our topic pages.

[00:10:39.000]
They're a great way for users to browse through content, retrieve articles. Videos, audio files, biographies, images, and so much more related to a specific topic.

[00:10:53.000]
Users will discover subject content within reference, periodicals, biographies, primary sources, and rich multimedia.

[00:11:02.000]
And there's even more at even that case studies and so on. And so there's so much available.

[00:11:08.000]
Gale workflow integration tools, Google Classroom, where you can create assignments and bring content topic pages, even filtered results, and we're going to spend some time on that today.

[00:11:19.000]
Right into Google Classroom and share immediately with students. We have the get link tool, which is great for library programming or to use in coursework, are also in our K 12 classrooms where you can get a persistent URL to share content.

[00:11:29.000]
In any online source syllabus, LMS, social media, email, anywhere you want to reach folks.

[00:11:42.000]
And then Google Drive and Microsoft Onedrive, you have the ability to send documents, audio files, images, and so much more directly to their Google Drive or their Microsoft Onedrive from their Gale

[00:11:57.000]
We have tools to support accessibility in addition to the consideration for color contrast that runs throughout your gale resources there is also a consideration for content viewing customization.

[00:12:06.000]
Users can change how they view their resources to meet individual needs and preferences.

[00:12:19.000]
And users can increase in decrease font size of each piece without having to change the browser zoom setting.

[00:12:27.000]
So the display options is a great feature. That allows our users to customize each resource to their viewing preferences.

[00:12:35.000]
And as users are working within a resource, these changes will carry with them throughout each piece. So if I set up that.

[00:12:42.000]
Display option, it'll stay with me throughout my session.

[00:12:49.000]
Gale's translate feature. So let's talk a little bit about the translate feature as this really applies to to what we're talking about for today's session.

[00:12:58.000]
All content within your Gale resources can be quickly and easily translated to accommodate users needs. And preferences as well as the database interface.

[00:13:07.000]
This allows for equity of access to reading and independent research. We actually are now at 50 languages available in the Gale resources.

[00:13:16.000]
So 50 different languages, users can quickly translate the entire document. By selecting from the list of 50 languages available in Gale resources.

[00:13:26.000]
The listen feature allows users to hear text. Read to them in English as well as several of the other translations that we have available.

[00:13:36.000]
We actually are at 24 languages for the L feature.

[00:13:42.000]
Our Galing context, content levels, and Lexile measures are available and very helpful for our users and our teachers that are filtering down content.

[00:13:47.000]
So content level. Icons indicate that a resource falls within a specific Lexile measure range or a general audience range.

[00:14:01.000]
There are 5 content levels, level one through level 5, which correspond to the following lexile measures as you can see here in this PowerPoint slide.

[00:14:11.000]
You'll also see level documents in our periodicals. So that's our one file product.

[00:14:12.000]
Family and reference content. This indicates documents have been written at different lexile measures to allow for differentiation.

[00:14:25.000]
The label will appear on the search results and it is also in a drop-down menu on the document page.

[00:14:32.000]
So I'll model that for you. Today and there's a great way to to filter down that content.

[00:14:38.000]
To certain content levels and that's we're going to talk a little bit about that today as we go live into the resources.

[00:14:46.000]
If you want to connect learners with premium content, we are integrated with Canvas Schoology.

[00:14:51.000]
D twol and more. Blackboard, Moodle, you'll find that you have the ability to integrate your Gale resources right into these learning management systems.

[00:15:01.000]
So anywhere you have that LTI LMS integration, you're going to find Gale resources are available and can be added into that platform.

[00:15:04.000]
It supports teachers and faculty, librarians, and students with the ability to embed trusted Gale content directly into content within your courses or classes.

[00:15:21.000]
And with that, I'm going to share my next screen and let's talk about. Your gale support site and what you have available there on the support site including and then I will talk to you about the Gale page.

[00:15:35.000]
So let's start with the Gale's support site and I'm just briefly going to jump into that.

[00:15:42.000]
We aren't going to spend a ton of time there because I want to spend the majority of our time looking at the resources themselves.

[00:15:49.000]
Talking about some of those tools I've already mentioned to you all. So this, if you're looking for direct URLs, you're looking for your library information.

[00:15:59.000]
You can find that here. I shared that link at the start of today's session. I'll also share it at the end of today's session.

[00:16:03.000]
But it is really easy. It's support. Gale.com slash WSL.

[00:16:14.000]
Then you can find your library name. And I'm just going to use the Washington State Library as an example.

[00:16:25.000]
There we go. Once I select my library name, I click Proceed. And this will take me to.

[00:16:33.000]
Of my direct URLs. So this is where you can make a decision if you would like to add these to your library page if you want to use all of them.

[00:16:42.000]
We also have another option available and this is a it's a complementary Gale page resource site.

[00:16:48.000]
Let me share that with you. This is what it looks like. So all of my resources are loaded here and you can see there are quite a few.

[00:16:57.000]
Gale resources available. We are not going in to go, we're not going into all of these today, but we will touch into a few.

[00:17:05.000]
They are organized into the subject categories on the left hand side and then all of our ebooks are also here.

[00:17:12.000]
So a Gale page resource site is a great access point. For all of your users that are coming into your library, it gives them a nice easy way to access all of your content from the Washington State Library.

[00:17:25.000]
Let me go back to that support site. I want to talk to you about training. You have training materials available.

[00:17:32.000]
And at the top of our training page, we have any upcoming training sessions either Washington Library, Washington State Library specific or if they're open sessions that apply to your resources, they would be listed here too.

[00:17:44.000]
Our recorded webinars and these are you're going to find at the top of the list these are all the Washington State Library specific recorded webinars.

[00:17:57.000]
So you can see there's quite a few that are available in our library. And then below you have your list of products.

[00:18:05.000]
Underneath each product, you're going to and let's choose Academic One File, you're going to find all kinds of training materials.

[00:18:12.000]
Here's recorded webinars, resource guides, tip sheets that are available, and tutorials.

[00:18:19.000]
Within those tutorials, I wanted to point out a few things. Tutorials are under 3 min long, and we have tutorials on.

[00:18:25.000]
One of them is accessibility and support for all learners. So we have these short little tutorials available.

[00:18:28.000]
Something else that we have available would be you'd see our 15 min to mastery. Something else that we have available would be you'd see our 15 min to mastery.

[00:18:45.000]
Something else that we have available would be you'd see our 15 min to mastery. So here's a 15 min to mastery.

[00:18:50.000]
So here's a 15 min to mastery. So here's a 15 min to mastery.

[00:18:55.000]
So here's a 15 min to mastery tools to support accessibility. So here's a 15 min to mastery tools to support accessibility.

[00:19:06.000]
And this is a very short, 15 min session focusing on the tools any that we have some listed at the top of the page, but let me.

[00:19:14.000]
Shrink this down here. There we go. And then we have product specific. So if I wanted everything for Gale In context elementary, I can see all of those marketing materials.

[00:19:17.000]
A great way to promote your resources. We even have some in Spanish as you can see here we've got some flyers available in Spanish you'll find some training materials and student activities also available in Spanish for our K, some of our K 12 resources.

[00:19:39.000]
So we'll just have it, you can see it in parentheses there. So we have some information also available in Spanish.

[00:19:48.000]
Technical documents you will find here and then VPAD information always really important when we're talking about accessibility.

[00:19:56.000]
Our VPAD information is also listed here. So all kinds of great information on that support site. With that, we are going to use our Gale page to access our resources and we are going to start with Gale In Context Elementary.

[00:20:11.000]
I may already have this open, but let me open it again. A few tools I want to go over when you're talking about equity of access that are really helpful to our users because our youngest users K through 5 this resource is designed for it's general reference cross-curricular some tools that help support our younger users is the ability to toggle the sound on and off to help.

[00:20:33.000]
Navigate through the site. So I can toggle this on. And then when I move my cursor.

[00:20:44.000]
It will read the text or information below my cursor even.

[00:20:53.000]
Even the I wonder questions. Another feature that's available to help our users navigate through the resource is the ability to translate the, the navigational tools.

[00:21:05.000]
So I can translate the navigational tools into over 34 different languages and that's at the top of my page wherever you see the little translate icon you'll be able to translate the text or in this case the navigational tools.

[00:21:22.000]
I, wanted to share with you different content types, but before I do, to help our younger users, we have these topic trees available.

[00:21:31.000]
The topic tree is a really helpful tool because it does have that visual for our younger students to access that information.

[00:21:37.000]
So if they wanted to go into animals. You can see these pictures take them through step by step pointing and clicking.

[00:21:48.000]
We are getting some higher level information there. We're going to go into dogs. Cats and dogs are usually number one and number 2 in this in our usage reports every month.

[00:21:59.000]
Students love to look at information about their cats and dogs. But our topic pages, we do have images and essay overviews.

[00:22:08.000]
We have quick facts on in Gale In Context Elementary and then you can see all of our content is organized into and curated.

[00:22:11.000]
Into these boxes below. We have images. Citations are available for everything. All of our video content has they have transcripts available.

[00:22:29.000]
And then related topic pages are at the bottom. Something I want to share with you, couple things. If you notice to the left of our content, we're seeing these the content types that I had talked to you, or content levels I had talked to you about.

[00:22:45.000]
At the beginning of today's session. So different content levels and they are marked. Ones and twos are generally elementary.

[00:22:47.000]
3 is middle school and then 4 and 5 is high school to undergrad. Something else you're going to find is the ability to keep things at students reading levels.

[00:23:02.000]
What we've done is if I click keep reading. I takes me to the essay overview and what I have is the ability to change from a level one to a level 2.

[00:23:08.000]
So we We publish a lot of our own content and so we have that ability to change the level of our content, which makes it really nice for our students because they are able to read it at their own reading level.

[00:23:28.000]
We also have great tools to support accessibility. They are here, but I do want to save them for the next resource because I want to continue to build your knowledge.

[00:23:38.000]
But what I do want to share with you here in this resource, if I were to click into and I went back to that.

[00:23:44.000]
Topic page, click into book articles. And I wanted to filter down all of my content to just level ones and twos because our sometimes our magazines and newspapers skew a little bit higher so we might see some level threes here.

[00:23:52.000]
You all know you work in the library, you understand that sometimes those, word can skew the whole article a little higher.

[00:24:07.000]
So what we've done is what you can do is you can filter down by content level using the filter your results section here to the right hand side.

[00:24:17.000]
So I can filter that content level if I just want my level ones and level twos, I can apply that.

[00:24:23.000]
And then everything is filtered down at once. If I wanted to share this, I could use the get link tool.

[00:24:30.000]
So even filter content, I can share this, which is great for my library programming. When you're talking about summer reading or also working in with the children's librarians that filtering down that content and then using the get link tool, you can share that information.

[00:24:48.000]
Of course, this is great for our teachers too, or they can pull it directly into Google Classroom.

[00:24:54.000]
So really easy to share that content both ways. And again, at all levels, I can use my get link tool.

[00:25:01.000]
This is just one way where you can actually filter your content and still share just that filtered content with your users.

[00:25:09.000]
So again, equity of access and tools to support accessibility. Okay, with that let's go into our next resource and I actually want to go into Let me see if I have it open here.

[00:25:23.000]
Global issues, I do.

[00:25:28.000]
Global issues when you're talking about diverse content from a global viewpoint, Gale In Context global issues is a great resource to take a look at and share with your users because it is exactly that.

[00:25:40.000]
You are going to get very diverse content. And, all of our resources, you're going to find great diverse content, but, this one too looks, takes that global viewpoint.

[00:25:52.000]
So you will have great information when you're talking about, you know, government and politics and law, health and medicine.

[00:26:00.000]
It's looking at it globally, countries and territories. You can see conflict and diplomacy.

[00:26:06.000]
So we have all of these. Society and cultures a great one too when we're talking about this topic.

[00:26:13.000]
We have all of these subject categories and within each subject category you're going to find topic pages. Which are curated collections of information.

[00:26:22.000]
So let's go into society and culture.

[00:26:26.000]
And I see specifically one that we do have to have on the homepage that I wanted to take a look at today.

[00:26:31.000]
And that was, and now I have to find it here on the page.

[00:26:39.000]
It was. Why am I not seeing it? Okay. Wizard should be right here.

[00:26:48.000]
Oh goodness, instead of wasting your time, let me go back to that homepage. Oh, it's climate change.

[00:26:52.000]
I was thinking global warming. So climate change and impacts on indigenous peoples. Again, image and essay overview.

[00:27:00.000]
Similar to elementary, but here we have text and that picture is where we're finding that content on this page is going to be all of our different content types and you can see we have our feature content, something I like to share about that is this is hand selected information by our content.

[00:27:20.000]
And this is a great starting point for all of our users. But what I love about these these topic pages is that Information is already been curated, so it keeps it in this nice visually appealing, user friendly interface ability to access our this interface or this topic page right within the resource itself.

[00:27:41.000]
You're going to find viewpoints which are full of our viewpoint essays, but then as I scroll down we have images, reference videos again these videos also have that closed captioning and transcripts available.

[00:27:55.000]
Audio files, magazines, and then here are academic journals. They are peer, if they're peer reviewed, you will see that in the summary.

[00:28:03.000]
And then any safe vetted websites at the very bottom are related topics. So we talked about topic pages, they're curated collections of information.

[00:28:12.000]
We do have the ability to search within the results to quickly find those content, the new content or specific content.

[00:28:19.000]
I don't have to go back out to that basic search. It keeps me in a nice place where everything's organized and already curated for me on a certain topic.

[00:28:29.000]
Something else I can do here is if I wanted to take a look at, let's look at world leaders.

[00:28:36.000]
Our viewpoint essays do have these article commentaries that I wanted to point out. We also have some questions available, but what I really want to focus on is our tools to support accessibility.

[00:28:49.000]
So I have again that ability to translate. I have that little translate icon. And this is meeting the varying needs of our users.

[00:29:00.000]
I can translate the article into over 50 languages and let me model that for you. Let's choose Spanish here.

[00:29:07.000]
And what it'll do is it'll translate the first, I'm not sure how many words, but the first section, and then you'll see this is a preview.

[00:29:15.000]
If I want to complete that translation, I can check that here. Or also at the top of our page.

[00:29:23.000]
So then that would complete the whole translation. Once I do that, Then all of these tools will pop back up.

[00:29:28.000]
But I do get that messaging first. And I can translate both the article or this is where I can also translate the navigational tools again.

[00:29:40.000]
So we do put it in both places. It still lives up at the very top where I showed you the beginning of today's session, but it also lives here under the translate icon.

[00:29:50.000]
We can decrease or increase the font size. I can also change my display options. So I can change the color behind the text.

[00:30:00.000]
I can change the font if I need open dyslexic. I have that available. I can also increase the line letter and word spacing.

[00:30:10.000]
And this feature will stick with me throughout my session on every article that I access. Another very helpful tool is the Explorer panel where you're going to find supplemental information.

[00:30:20.000]
So your users don't have to keep going back out to find more content related to an article that they're on.

[00:30:26.000]
They can use this explore panel and find that additional content.

[00:30:34.000]
To remove that filter or remove those display options, I can just open that box back up, click back to default settings, and then done.

[00:30:43.000]
My listen feature will highlight the text as it's being read aloud.

[00:30:53.000]
Okay, I'm going to let it read a little bit here.

[00:30:57.000]
And what I want to share with you is just to the right. So I click play, you can see what it's highlighting.

[00:31:04.000]
The settings gear.

[00:31:07.000]
I that up it gives me more options. So I can change what's being highlighted, what colors are being used in that highlighting.

[00:31:10.000]
I can change the text color. Again, great tools to support accessibility and meet the needs of all of our users.

[00:31:18.000]
So we are helping to bridge. That gap or bridge, create a bridge into the digital divide and making an inclusive environment for our users to access the information within our Gale resources.

[00:31:38.000]
A feature I want to share with you is the enhanced text visibility. It's right here in the center of our settings.

[00:31:46.000]
I can turn that on. I also can slow down the speed. I want to and it really slows it down very very slow, so be prepared for that.

[00:31:57.000]
Now I turned on the enhanced text visibility. When I click play, You can see it pulls out that text onto the page.

[00:32:06.000]
So really supports are users, any visual needs. This is a great tool to have for our younger users, our emergent readers, pulling that text out as it's being read aloud to them as a great tool for those budding readers.

[00:32:21.000]
So again, it lives under our in the listen button under that little settings gear, in the listen button under that little settings gear, in the listen button, under that little settings gear, all I did was turn on the enhanced text visibility.

[00:32:35.000]
And this is also a feature that will stick with

[00:32:39.000]
I'm going to turn it off. One other feature is I have the ability to download and listen to this as an MP 3.

[00:32:47.000]
So for those users that don't have access to the internet and want to download this right onto their device, we are mobile responsive.

[00:32:55.000]
They can put it right onto their cell phone. Or on to their e-reader, whatever they're using, they can listen to it later.

[00:33:03.000]
They don't have to have access to the internet so they can download it and listen to it later.

[00:33:08.000]
So that's a great tool to have available. And it does again live in under that listen button.

[00:33:11.000]
Another feature too is the ability to email but also download and print. So again, we're mobile responsive if they're using their own computers.

[00:33:21.000]
Or phones or whatever device they are using, they can download this article right onto their device. They can print it off.

[00:33:24.000]
So if they're at the library and need to print it off. There's unlimited downloads, unlimited print options available.

[00:33:37.000]
Within the resource, there's no limit for them. And then you can also, of course, email and then quickly send it to Google Driver Microsoft Onedrive if you wanted to access it later.

[00:33:45.000]
These tools also live in our contextual toolbar. We have them in the toolbar so you don't have to scroll back.

[00:33:55.000]
You can use the send 2 option. Download or print that information off. Okay, so we talked about tools.

[00:34:02.000]
To support accessibility. We talked about how there's great diverse content available and all of your gale resources, but I chose global issues today.

[00:34:14.000]
And we talked about topic pages. Now I want to switch gears and focus a little bit more on content.

[00:34:18.000]
Now I'd like to take you into Inform a academical and this is one of our in our one file suite of resources.

[00:34:30.000]
You'll find Inform Academical.

[00:34:34.000]
In our one file resources, they do look a little different than our in context. We do have the ability our academic one file and general one file have some browse by discipline options.

[00:34:43.000]
Here on the homepage, our other one file resources will look like this. It's just the content is going to be a little different because here we are in Informa Academical where you have the Spanish and Portuguese publications that I mentioned.

[00:35:02.000]
Let me share with you where you can find them. You can see here on the homepage we have topic finder, subject guide search, publication search, we're going to go to our publication search.

[00:35:14.000]
And list all publications.

[00:35:17.000]
So if I were looking for a certain publication. For example, this one.

[00:35:24.000]
I can see that I have this. From J. First of 2,003 to current and I can go to the most most current issue.

[00:35:34.000]
Find all of those articles. And again, this. When I click into the article, I can read this article in the language.

[00:35:46.000]
That it's published in.

[00:35:53.000]
Of course, I still have the translate option, but these are publications again, specifically coming from Spanish and Portuguese periodicals.

[00:36:03.000]
So just wanted to point that out. If I go back one other feature, if, well, I need to go back one more.

[00:36:10.000]
Here we go. If I wanted to get a journal, or every time something new has been added from this publication, I can create a journal alert.

[00:36:20.000]
It's in the upper right hand corner in my contextual toolbar where I can have an email to myself or set up an RSS feed and put it into my browser.

[00:36:30.000]
And that is that features available in all of your one file resources. You also have the ability to create search alerts if you've done a basic search.

[00:36:35.000]
And even if you filtered it down, you can create those search alerts in our one file resources.

[00:36:39.000]
So just another little helpful tip there. All right, so let's go into. Health and wellness.

[00:36:55.000]
And we're towards the end of our session, so I do want to make sure we have time to touch into.

[00:36:59.000]
We talked about our support materials. I want to talk a little bit more about them before you leave today and where you can go for help.

[00:37:08.000]
Health and wellness is a great resource for all of our users. You're going to find great information on different, and these are also organized by subject categories and topic pages, but if I'm looking at community health.

[00:37:23.000]
This may be an area where I'm looking at specifically Asian American and Pacific Islander health.

[00:37:24.000]
So this is a great tool. For and you'll find this type of information also available for medical professionals and medical students in health and medicine, but also just a great tool for our users.

[00:37:35.000]
When you're talking about diverse communities and being able to support those diverse communities. This is the type of information that you're going to find within these resources.

[00:38:04.000]
So different diverse content is available even in the health and wellness resource. Another thing I want to share with you is topic Finder.

[00:38:14.000]
So topic Finder, let me go back to the homepage. Topic finder in our in context resources you'll find topics finder we've pulled it out and put it on the homepage.

[00:38:24.000]
But you'll also find it. Let me go into, I'm gonna go back. Oh, that's not a way I want to go. Community health.

[00:38:32.000]
Go back to our topic. Page. I'm gonna click into magazines. It also lives in your search results.

[00:38:38.000]
So you can see it here, topic finder. I can pull in even information from my topic page directly into Topic Finder.

[00:38:48.000]
So that's an option. And let me show you what that looks like. And you get this visual representation of your search results.

[00:38:52.000]
It's interactive. You have 2 choices. Either tiles or wheel.

[00:39:02.000]
Purely preference and it's a way to let's click into cancer screening. Specifically women's health and on the right hand side I have 5 different documents available.

[00:39:15.000]
So topic Finder lives on our homepage on most of our resources or it always lives under advanced search.

[00:39:23.000]
It also is a great way to kick off a search. So if I were to go to directly here to topic finding, let me clear out that information.

[00:39:33.000]
And maybe I'm looking for information on anxiety.

[00:39:40.000]
I can kick off my search using topic finder. And it's very visual and interactive, which again helps support our users varying needs and find that content in this.

[00:39:51.000]
Another visual way. So we have our great topic pages, but we also have topic finder as a search option.

[00:39:59.000]
Of course we have basic search and advanced search. I shared with you the publication search also today. And now the last I was sharing with you was Topic Finder.

[00:40:09.000]
And again, I can quickly jump into. I clicked on depression and anxiety. I click on stress.

[00:40:15.000]
It takes me to all of the documents I have available and these could be images, videos, and or articles.

[00:40:18.000]
Whatever we have available, you'll see in those results. All right, so we're towards the end of our session here.

[00:40:27.000]
Let me go back to our PowerPoint and share with you.

[00:40:36.000]
Again, just a reminder where you can go for support is the Gale support site. There's that link.

[00:40:41.000]
I said I'd share it with you again. It's right here at the top of the page.

[00:40:45.000]
This is where you're going to find all of your access. URLs the title list.

[00:40:50.000]
There's also Mark Records, database icons, widgets, and then the ability to contact us directly.

[00:40:52.000]
In the training center is where you'll find tip sheets and tutorials we've been adding new items like training toolkits which take you from the basics all the way to where you can go to find help.

[00:41:08.000]
There's also PowerPoint training decks available and our marketing materials looking to share this information. You're going to find bookmarks and digital assets.

[00:41:13.000]
Em, email templates, communication templates, social media posts, all available in those marketing materials.

[00:41:27.000]
One on one support for all of your Gale resources is your Gale customer success managers and they can help you with understanding access.

[00:41:31.000]
Will they'll take a look at your library website to help you with those tools if you're interested in using the Gale page I mentioned for the you know really a great way when you're talking about equity of access to share information and have your users access one single point.

[00:41:48.000]
You can do that and it's customizable. You can add in resources from other vendors.

[00:41:56.000]
It's not limited to just scale. And it's one link. So keep that in mind if you have a tech team that's that you have to work with that always has to make the changes for you.

[00:42:06.000]
This is a way for you to just share one link with them and then you can customize it however you like.

[00:42:12.000]
So keep that in mind that that's an option. And my name is Tammy Burke.

[00:42:16.000]
I'm your senior trainer from Gale. I hope you will join us in the future. And future Washington State Library training sessions.

[00:42:24.000]
Again, they will live on the site. Let me go to the next page. They will live here.

[00:42:29.000]
So whenever you want to join us again or take a look at any trainings that we've already completed in that library, please check it out.

[00:42:36.000]
But I thank you for taking the time to view this training today. And hope you enjoy the rest of the Washington Washington Library Conference this year.

[00:42:46.000]
So thank you all and have a great rest of your day.
