[00:00:03.000]
Welcome to your training today. Discover Gale In Context resources. This training is for Utah's Online Public Library. My name is Tammi Burke. I'm a senior trainer at Gale, and very happy and excited to be here with you all today. I hope you all had a great holiday, and I'm excited to talk to you about your Gale In Context resources. Our training today will focus on.

[00:00:28.000]
The comp.

[00:00:29.000]
I'll talk to you about the complete in context product family that you have. We don't have time to go through all of the resources. But at least you'll have a better understanding of what you have available from Utah's Online Public Library. In this training we will cover content. But I'll talk to you about topic pages.

[00:00:46.000]
Uh tools and features that are available within the resources, and I'll also share with you where you can go to find those ready to go activities.

[00:00:54.000]
That are available on the Gale support site, and these are great to engage patrons and enhance learning experiences for your patrons that are coming into your library.

[00:01:04.000]
So let's get started talking about our agenda.

[00:01:08.000]
We're going to 1st start with access.

[00:01:10.000]
Because your links are available in live. So if you would like to add those links to your library websites, they are available. I'm going to share with you where you can find that information.

[00:01:22.000]
And then we will.

[00:01:24.000]
Dive into a brief overview of the Gale In Context resources. We're gonna spend the majority of our time looking at content tools and features. And then any questions please feel free to ask at any time throughout today's training, or I will stay on at the end of today's session to answer any additional questions you have. I'll leave you with contact information.

[00:01:45.000]
For myself, but also for your Gale customer, success manager, and they are there to support you in all things. Gale.

[00:01:53.000]
If you're accessing uh, and they're looking for more information. Utah's online public library has great information. For you all I know. This is where they promoted the new changes that are ha! That happened on July first.st

[00:02:07.000]
When you get there you can access all resources. And this is a great place to get a better understanding of what Gale resources you have available. We have an overview training session that I'll share with where you can find that that is great to use as a reference, also because it is an overview of all of the resources at once. So if you'd like to watch that training, you can.

[00:02:30.000]
If you click into any of these, learn more, you will then see more information on that resource. So you've got a great summary of the information that you have, or the uh information on the resource that you now have available. And then, if I were to click access resource, then it would take me to my authentication. So the nice thing is with your Gale resources. The authentication is going to remain.

[00:02:55.000]
The same. So you've been using the online public library has provided you with easy proxy links. We also have included those. The nice thing is with your Gale resources, though, is that we have set them up for each library and library system.

[00:03:12.000]
So that you're able to pull usage reports individually. So that's a great tool to have. And it's wonderful that the Utah's Online Public library. Set it up that way for you all that you, so that you can then access individual usage reports for your library, or library system.

[00:03:30.000]
You the link or the where you can access. All of that information is this support site, and I am going to put this link in the chat. This is a really good spot to bookmark. If you are getting started with your Gale resources, maybe this is your 1st training session. I, Co. I will cover this in every single training that I do over the next month. but this is a great access point for you all.

[00:03:54.000]
not for your patrons, for your patrons. I would suggest that they use your direct Urls. So, for example, when I access this link. You'll be taken here to the homepage of your support site that we've created for all of the libraries in Utah. So all of the public libraries have access to this. This is where you can enter in your library name or use our dropdown menu. You can also see.

[00:04:19.000]
Upcoming webinars that are available. I do highly suggest that you use your direct Urls. Once I enter my library name I can click into resources or click, proceed, and it will take me to this spot. Now, what happens is right here.

[00:04:35.000]
your location, id, for your library will be built into that link.

[00:04:41.000]
So anytime any patron utilizes the direct link that's on your library website. The usage will roll up to your library.

[00:04:49.000]
So again, great spot to grab all of your direct Urls.

[00:04:54.000]
You can export the entire list of links here on the right hand side. So 1st step one is to enter your library name. Now it may be the library or library system, not a branch. So keep that in mind as you're accessing this information. That is how uh Utah's Online public library has set it up. So that's why. that's what you're seeing in the results.

[00:05:16.000]
Once you access your library and click. Proceed, then you will be taken to all of your direct Urls with your location id built in.

[00:05:25.000]
There's also a lot of other great materials available there, your ebooks, training materials, your marketing materials. We are going to cover the support site in another session.

[00:05:35.000]
And I believe it's next week, Thursday. We're covering it. So Wednesday or Thursday.

[00:05:40.000]

[00:05:42.000]
Let me see, it is the 17.th So July 17th will be covering this in more detail. But I did wanted to share it with you today, so you can get started and start adding those.

[00:05:53.000]
Links to your library website.

[00:05:56.000]
So let's talk about your in contact suite of resources. And then there's a few others I I threw in here because they really.

[00:06:04.000]
Well with these resources, or are integrated into them.

[00:06:09.000]
So we say, homeschool and homework help. But it's also great. A lot of these resources, like environmental studies and opposing viewpoints, are also really great for adult learning. So don't limit it to just your K 12 patrons that are coming into your library. Please know that. these resources are great for adult learning, or just.

[00:06:29.000]
Accessing great authoritative content in a nice.

[00:06:34.000]
User friendly environment.

[00:06:36.000]
What you have available are the 3 what I like to call building blocks.

[00:06:42.000]
So you have gallon context, elementary.

[00:06:45.000]
General reference, cross, curricular, designed for kindergarten through 5th grade students, great for summer reading. Also you also have Gale In Context Middle School for our 6th through 8th grade students. Again, general Reference cross curricular.

[00:07:00.000]
And Gale in context, high school for a high school students, 9 through 12th graders.

[00:07:05.000]
General reference cross, curricular. We also have national geographic kits. So National Geographic kids we have. I actually have someone that I work with in Texas that always says you never outgrown National Geographic. So it is designed for elementary patrons that are coming into your library. But National Geographic Kids is used at the Middle School Level High School level. You have all those great.

[00:07:30.000]
Images and videos and books and magazines available within this resource. We've also what we've done is we've integrated all of that content into Gale In context elementary. So your younger users.

[00:07:45.000]
Could go just into Gale In Context: Elementary and access. All of that information at once.

[00:07:50.000]
And I'm gonna model that for you today. But it's also available as a standalone resource. So both options are available.

[00:07:58.000]
Gale. In context, biography is covering that biographical information, historical to contemporary figures. Uh, these are people that have had a major influence on our world. You're going to see great information, great information. on all sorts of folks there within Gale In context, biography.

[00:08:19.000]
Environmental studies is exactly that. Looking at the environmental issues or topics case studies, you're going to find here renewable information on renewable energy. It's very focused on environmental studies. And so this is more of that. use a lot more at the high school and also higher Ed level.

[00:08:39.000]
So again great for that adult learning.

[00:08:42.000]
And then Gale in context, opposing viewpoints.

[00:08:45.000]
I also consider this one cross curricular. This is hot topic, social issues, controversial issues, a great one for your high school students, middle school be just know that there's some controversial issues in there. It is used at the middle school level.

[00:09:00.000]
but just.

[00:09:01.000]
Be aware of the content that is available within the resource, because we do talk about everything like left.

[00:09:08.000]
Le everything left, right and center. Like all all that information, we're a global company. So you're going to find a great information from around the world. We also publish our own content.

[00:09:19.000]
So we have our content experts that are adding our subject matter, specialists adding great content to these resources. And the nice thing is with your in context, resources is they are.

[00:09:31.000]
Organize with great topic pages. They're user friendly. They are designed for our K through 12 students, but also use.

[00:09:38.000]
Again for our adult learners.

[00:09:41.000]
Our folks that are just looking for that great up to date. Authoritative content, opposing viewpoints is one. It's 1 of our most popular resources.

[00:09:48.000]
And it's used at all levels. We have higher. Ed, that uses it a lot too.

[00:09:52.000]
And then to round out our in context, product family, we have Gale In context focusing on that science curriculum or science.

[00:10:00.000]
Uh content that you're going to find there. There's great simulations here that I'm gonna share with you today. And then you have Gale, interactive science and these 2 work together. So if I'm on a topic in Gale In Context: science, that also has because you have Gale interactive science, if it, there is an activity cause. These are 3D models and activities that are available within this resource. Gale, interactive science.

[00:10:25.000]
If I'm on a topic that has an activity in Gale interactive science, I can access it from.

[00:10:31.000]
Gale In Context: science. So there's some integration there that is available and just wanted to share that.

[00:10:38.000]
So that's a brief overview of not only your main in context resources, but, I added in National Geographic Kids and Gale interactive science because of how they work with some of those in context, product families, rich multimedia. You're going to find great images and videos.

[00:10:55.000]
An audio files here uh opposing viewpoints has fantastic infographics available that are interactive. So you're going to find that type of information and simulations available in your Gale In Context, product, family.

[00:11:09.000]
Let me know if you have any questions about any of those resources we are going to jump into. A few of them today during the session. Before I do, I want to share with you some tools I want you to keep in mind. So you want to share content. The best way to do that for public libraries and to include it in your programming, or is, or to supplement your programming is to utilize the get link tool.

[00:11:34.000]
Creating a bookmark back to any spot within the resource, even if you filtered the content down.

[00:11:40.000]
Let's say, by reading level or lexile measure, then you can use or grab that, get link tool you can share. So if you're working with schools at all, and especially with teachers. They can share this information directly to Google classroom.

[00:11:55.000]
But you can also send. So any of your users, utilizing any of your gale resources can send content directly to their Google Drive or Microsoft onedrive so a great way to save that content. Uh! And then you can always share it from your drive.

[00:12:10.000]
To support accessible learning. We have great tools to support accessibility. We have the translate feature where you can translate the text into over 50 languages. You have the ability to increase or decrease the font size. Our display options help users customize the text, changing the font, changing the color behind the text.

[00:12:30.000]
And then we have the listen feature where you can listen to the text being read aloud. So all those options are available on every at the document level. Of everything available, everything in within your gale, resources.

[00:12:45.000]
You also have highlights and notes, this crew. This promotes that deeper learning. It's a great, it's a great option to color code or annotate content. You can also just send highlights and notes directly to your Google drive or Microsoft onedrive. I'm gonna model that for you today. It's a great tool and feature, especially for those.

[00:13:04.000]
Users that are.

[00:13:07.000]
Doing any type of research or working on projects. Or maybe they're grabbing information for papers argumentative essays. That type of information, highlights and notes is a great tool. It also is great for our younger users, and I'll talk to you about it when I work through the resources.

[00:13:23.000]
Uh topic. Pages are great.

[00:13:27.000]
Jumping off point, so meaning that it's a curated collection of information. We do align it. We take a look at curriculum. We take a look at usage our subject matter experts uh, look at the content that's there, and they curate it for our users. So topic pages are great organization of information that you have available within your resource.

[00:13:48.000]
It's really helpful for our students that are accessing this information. So you have those home schoolers or students looking for homework help coming into your library, direct them to your in context resources, because the content there is organized very nicely and user friendly for them.

[00:14:04.000]
Topic finder is a visual representation of your search results. It's another search option, and our users love it because it does. Look at those key words, and it does also share with them keywords that maybe they hadn't necessarily thought about. It's interactive. And again, very visual. And then our citations are always attached to every single document available within our resources.

[00:14:27.000]
But you also have the citation tool, if you just need to grab only the citation, and you have that in Mla 9.th

[00:14:36.000]
Apa, Chicago and Harvard are all available, so you can change the format.

[00:14:41.000]
Before you grab that citation.

[00:14:44.000]
Alright. So with that, let's jump into our 1st resource again. If you have any questions.

[00:14:49.000]
Please feel free to use the QA. Box I am going to share with you.

[00:14:55.000]
Gale In Context, Elementary.

[00:14:57.000]
And I wanna talk to you about what you're seeing here. So I am accessing through Utah's online public library. Your library. You'll see the same information that you do have some ebooks available.

[00:15:10.000]
Here, and magazines so.

[00:15:13.000]
If I did not have any e-book. So we've integrated not only all of the National Geographic.

[00:15:19.000]
Kids information. Which is why I'm seeing magazines here in my

[00:15:24.000]
my content types at the top.

[00:15:26.000]
But also.

[00:15:28.000]
Gale ebooks. So this is really a 1. Stop shop for your younger users. They can come in here. They can access all of the great information that Gale In Context elementary has always had, plus their ebooks and.

[00:15:40.000]
Their National Geographic Kids Information.

[00:15:43.000]
So not only is it showing up in magazines here, but it'll show up in any of my search results.

[00:15:48.000]
To the ebooks and the magazines. All of that. Well.

[00:15:51.000]
So let me talk to you about the homepage and a couple of things we're seeing.

[00:15:55.000]
And I'm going to continue to go through the resources because the tools and features are the same across all of them. So I'm gonna keep building your knowledge as we jump into each resource. So I'm gonna touch into a few things in this one and then go into the next one.

[00:16:08.000]
And work through them today as we go through our training together. So we start with our topic pages. You do have at the top. The ability to translate the navigational tools.

[00:16:20.000]
So we are at 34 languages here. This is separate than our document translation.

[00:16:25.000]
I also am already signed in with Google, but I could sign in with Microsoft.

[00:16:29.000]
If I'm set up as a teacher, then I can post anything I need to in Google classroom.

[00:16:35.000]
And since I'm signed in it just, I can easily post anything in Google classroom.

[00:16:41.000]
Our contextual toolbar is here. I have the ability to toggle the sound on and off.

[00:16:46.000]
When I. What that does is it helps me navigate through the resource. So this is in Gale In context, elementary and in national geographic kids when I access it uh separately, not through. Well, it works either way. You have that sound on sound off. It's available in those 2 resources. It's designed for our younger users. I can listen to any content I want in any of my Gale resources. But this feature, this specific feature.

[00:17:11.000]
To help me navigate through the resource we design that for our younger users, because they needed a little additional support. Let me show you how it works. So when I toggle it on.

[00:17:20.000]
And move my cursor.

[00:17:21.000]
Maggie.

[00:17:22.000]
Pictures.

[00:17:23.000]
Videos.

[00:17:25.000]
I wonder!

[00:17:27.000]
What skills do good speakers have.

[00:17:30.000]
Find out!

[00:17:33.000]
Magazines.

[00:17:34.000]
So you can see how it helps me navigate through.

[00:17:35.000]
The resource itself.

[00:17:36.000]
So I have that ability to toggle that sound on and off.

[00:17:40.000]
And this is separate than our listen, feature.

[00:17:43.000]
We have these great, I wonder? Questions.

[00:17:46.000]
You know, kids at this age are inquisitive. They're curious, and they don't have to go to the open web to find that information. They need to stay at their public library in a safe space.

[00:17:55.000]
Or their school library to access this information. And so what we have done is, we've.

[00:18:00.000]
Put some eye wonder questions on here, and they do change. Every time you click in and out you'll see a different question, or you can click next question to access that next question and then find out that information. Our topic tree is what we call it in elementary, our topic starts with the subjects of animals, arts, and music. You can see all of the topics here, and then, as I click into them.

[00:18:25.000]
It takes me to the next page, which has some high level information, but then I can continue to drill down. So if I wanted to go to mammals.

[00:18:35.000]
I just click on mammals.

[00:18:37.000]
Again high level information. And then here are all of the topic pages. So it's very visual in Gale In Context elementary. When I select a topic page.

[00:18:47.000]
Cats and dogs are always really popular, I'm sure a lot of your libraries, too. You are doing some programming around, you know, reading with their furry friends.

[00:18:57.000]
You might wanna integrate or bookmark the dogs topic page and share that information. These.

[00:19:04.000]
Kids love their pets, and they love to learn more about them. And there's great content available here on these topic pages in gal and context, elementary.

[00:19:13.000]
And you can easily do that by using the get link tool. So here I am on a topic page. If I wanted to grab a link to this topic. Page I just click, get link.

[00:19:22.000]
And grab that link and share it wherever I want.

[00:19:26.000]
My users to access it. So it's right here at the top, always in my contextual toolbar.

[00:19:33.000]
I'm just gonna scroll down so you can kind of take a peek at what all we have available.

[00:19:37.000]
You'll also see we have some infographics available to in our images, timelines, that type of information, video content, and any related topic pages.

[00:19:50.000]
All right. Let's go back to that homepage.

[00:19:53.000]
The books are.

[00:19:55.000]
Accessed here. And it looks like there's 1 title so recently, Utah's online public library just. And I.

[00:20:03.000]
Believe they're being added. I just had a meeting yesterday, and I believe they're being added as we speak. So they're working on adding the e-books to all of the locations.

[00:20:14.000]
So you'll see more of those soon. I'm not sure how many of them are going to land in elementary. So these are only kindergarten through 5th grade ebooks.

[00:20:23.000]
If there are, you'll see more titles added, but they do live here. So if you, if more being added like I said, they did select them recently. Then you would see them here, or you might see your own library collections there, too.

[00:20:38.000]
News, articles.

[00:20:39.000]
Are at the top. You can search through any of those news articles. Also, our fun facts are always below that. So fun facts for July.

[00:20:49.000]
And it is national. Hot dog Day is coming up. It's next week. I always come in here. I love to find what's happening, or what's coming up.

[00:20:57.000]
New York became a State world. Snake Day is coming up. I have a colleague that does not like snakes whatsoever. So.

[00:21:06.000]
That's a reminder. That world snake days coming up news articles again are here at the top. And then all of those fun facts for July, and they change every month.

[00:21:16.000]
Pictures. This is a great way to find pictures. If I wanted to look. Maybe I'm interested in life cycle.

[00:21:23.000]
And I wanted to find any images related to the lifecycle. Why, there's so many spiders in the life cycle. It is. It's in the in the topic page, too, and I see she doesn't like snakes. I don't like spiders.

[00:21:35.000]
But they are just. They are really cool images. So you know, I just have to always select that. But life cycles are here, and I can filter down to that content.

[00:21:44.000]
Videos, same idea. Let's do.

[00:21:48.000]
Let's do life cycle again.

[00:21:52.000]
If I wanted to filter down to that video content.

[00:21:55.000]
I could, and you can see all the different.

[00:21:57.000]
Videos that we have available. And they're usually fairly short. We do have some like, this is 5 min. This one's 8 min. So some are a little bit longer, but they're usually fairly short, but even covering like, what is a life cycle? So you have that kind of great information.

[00:22:12.000]
And then magazines.

[00:22:15.000]
These are all your National Geographic kids, magazines.

[00:22:19.000]
So again, these are always available in National Geographic kids. You have access to that resource and also.

[00:22:26.000]
You'll find this in Gale In context, elementary.

[00:22:30.000]
When I click into a magazine.

[00:22:32.000]
I can easily turn the page.

[00:22:34.000]
Our ebooks work the same way. It's the same idea.

[00:22:37.000]
I do have the ability to zoom in or zoom out or make this whole screen. I have some features on the left hand side where there's a table of contents. I can quickly jump to gems. That rock.

[00:22:50.000]
I also have.

[00:22:52.000]
The ability to search.

[00:22:54.000]
I have a dictionary option, and then the quotation marks is just all of the full citation.

[00:23:02.000]
Okay. If I wanted to have this read aloud to me, I just click the listen button, and it will read this.

[00:23:08.000]
Document or this article out loud to me.

[00:23:13.000]
Alright! Let's go back to our homepage.

[00:23:15.000]
Now I want to take a look at.

[00:23:18.000]
I was taking. I was looking at some of the public libraries there in Utah, and some of your programming, and one came up where you're doing working with partnering with a planetarium and studying Mars. So I thought, well, let's pull that into our training today. So let's say, that's the situation. You are pulled into your public library programming. You're partnering with the planetarium.

[00:23:41.000]
And you. Or maybe it's a nature group that's coming in like the Rangers. are coming in. And you want they're talking about specific animals. Why not highlight some of the digital content that you have available in your gale resources? So I'm going to go into science.

[00:24:00.000]
And specifically to space and astronomy.

[00:24:05.000]
And to connect. Not only would I have my print books available, but I could also share the content I have on this topic. Page.

[00:24:14.000]
So our topic pages are organized and all of your in context resources. You'll have an image and an essay overview.

[00:24:21.000]
I also have in our elementary resources. We have our, I should say, our elementary resource. We have quick facts in the center.

[00:24:30.000]
On the topic pages, and then everything below is organized. We have book articles, and these are more of our reference. Content.

[00:24:36.000]
You can see we publish a lot of our own content. So you'll see that here.

[00:24:40.000]
Books. These would either be coming from your Gale ebook collection that the States purchase for you, or maybe your library is purchased, or.

[00:24:48.000]
As you can see here, National Geographic Kids.

[00:24:52.000]
We have magazine articles, news, articles, pictures.

[00:24:56.000]
Videos.

[00:24:57.000]
And then any related topics uh topic pages are below.

[00:25:02.000]
The image and essay overview.

[00:25:05.000]
We have 2 different levels. So we have 5 content levels in your in context resources. There's 5.

[00:25:12.000]
Ones and twos are lower, elementary, and upper, elementary.

[00:25:16.000]
If you always remember. Level 3 is middle school.

[00:25:20.000]
And everything below.

[00:25:21.000]
Is elementary. Everything above is high school to undergrad that keeps it really easy. I always tell folks that cause it keeps it easy for you all.

[00:25:30.000]
But.

[00:25:31.000]
Just ones and twos, lower, elementary and upper, elementary.

[00:25:36.000]
And you can see here we have some words to know.

[00:25:39.000]
And a shorter article.

[00:25:41.000]
For our level. One, kids.

[00:25:44.000]
I click on level 2, my image changes. And now, instead of words to know I have main ideas.

[00:25:53.000]
And this is one of our articles that we've published, as you can see here.

[00:25:57.000]
Source. Citation is below always attached.

[00:26:02.000]
Okay, let me know if you have any questions I just wanted to touch into a few things.

[00:26:12.000]
And let's keep building your.

[00:26:15.000]
Knowledge of your tools. Also.

[00:26:17.000]
So I'm going to touch into middle school. And then we're going to go into Gale In Context opposing viewpoints.

[00:26:24.000]
Uh instead of high school. I usually like to cover the 3 building blocks, but I think you get the general idea of these resources. So let's go into one that can also work for your adult learners, too. So let's go into middle school briefly, and then we will spend some time in opposing viewpoints.

[00:26:41.000]
So topic pages again, it's organized with images. Here also you can see all the tools and features still, here at the top, we have our contextual toolbar. I have all of my topics below the differences instead of a topic tree. Now, when I click into one of these subjects like, say, I click into.

[00:27:00.000]
Government.

[00:27:02.000]
It takes me to a list of all of the topic pages I have available.

[00:27:07.000]
So with elections coming up. Maybe this is an area that you wanna.

[00:27:12.000]
Pull some content on, or some information on, so that you can get more of that organized for your students to read a little bit more about the candidates that are running.

[00:27:24.000]
And to get away from what they're seeing on TV instead focusing on content that they would find here in a safe.

[00:27:31.000]
Vetted, authoritative place.

[00:27:34.000]
So just an idea.

[00:27:35.000]
Uh, and then with middle school within this resource, too. So that is one way to access specific topics. I have the dropdown menu here, where I can quickly jump to if I wanted to go into. Let's say us history.

[00:27:51.000]
It would take me, took me to all of the topics that would land in us. History.

[00:27:57.000]
And you can see these orange tags if it says updated. That just means that the image and essay overview have been updated on that topic page. All of the content is being updated every day throughout the day. So as soon as new content is available, it's being feeded into.

[00:28:13.000]
The topic pages automatically. You don't need to do anything on your end, even if you've created. Say, a direct link. Let's say I create a direct link to Thomas Jefferson. I'm using that get link tool.

[00:28:27.000]
This link will remain the same. But you'll still have all that new updated content. You don't need to change anything on your end. So it's not a static link.

[00:28:35.000]
It takes you to that new content and everything that you had prior to, or when you created the link.

[00:28:43.000]
Okay. So keep that in mind that, that's how those links work. It's really a great.

[00:28:48.000]
Tool to utilize in your like library programming. And it does also really help your your usage.

[00:28:54.000]
Okay. So let's do a basic search. I'm gonna go into.

[00:28:59.000]
I had a couple of different ideas. But let's just go into endangered species.

[00:29:05.000]
Again, we have an image and essay overview. And you have 2 different reading levels in the center of the page. We have all of the different content types that we have available.

[00:29:16.000]
I have the ability to search within my results. This is always really helpful. So if I am looking for, say, tigers.

[00:29:25.000]
I can filter down that content.

[00:29:27.000]
By just doing one quick search.

[00:29:31.000]
Okay.

[00:29:32.000]
If I remove that.

[00:29:35.000]
I can go back to my topic page by using my breadcrumb trail. But I'm already in reference. I can choose all content types, or I can go to biographies or images or videos, all those options are available. I also have the ability to filter down my results.

[00:29:52.000]
So if I wanted to filter by content level.

[00:29:55.000]
I could do that.

[00:29:57.000]
So sometimes you'll see, especially with our newspapers and magazines. And you all probably know this already is that sometimes they'll skew a little higher. There might be a word within that document that skews it a little bit higher. I see it again, mainly with our magazines and newspapers, and maybe I want to filter out that maybe I only want level threes and fours.

[00:30:17.000]
Maybe I'm creating some tech sets, or I'm working on some library programming that, I want that filter content because I know students that are coming in are going to be solely at that middle school level. I can do that.

[00:30:30.000]
And all I did was again. I went to Content level and selected 3 and 4.

[00:30:35.000]
And applied it, and you can see the lexile measure it relates to also.

[00:30:39.000]
Lexile measure is also an option. We have publication, date subjects, document, type, publication, title, and then still the ability to search within. So I can drill down even further.

[00:30:49.000]
So this is all my level.

[00:30:51.000]
Threes and fours, and it filtered everything down at once.

[00:30:56.000]
Again, I can use that, get link, tool, and share that with my patrons.

[00:31:02.000]
Alright. Another feature I wanted to share with you, and I'm going to go into biodiversity.

[00:31:07.000]
Is our tools to support accessibility.

[00:31:10.000]
So you have the ability to translate the document into over.

[00:31:16.000]
50 languages.

[00:31:20.000]
We have the ability to decrease or increase the font size.

[00:31:24.000]
It's harder to see cause the text is down here.

[00:31:28.000]
I have display options. Now, this is a nice feature that I can set up on my very 1st document, and then it'll stick with me throughout my session.

[00:31:36.000]
So here, if I wanted to change the color behind the text.

[00:31:40.000]
If I needed to change the font to open dyslexic, and I needed to increase the line letter in word, spacing.

[00:31:47.000]
I can do that.

[00:31:50.000]
And it will again stick with me, no matter where I'm at. Let me go back to my topic. Page.

[00:31:56.000]
And this time let's go into a magazine article.

[00:32:03.000]
You could see it stuck with me.

[00:32:05.000]
To clear that I just open that box back up and go back to default settings.

[00:32:11.000]
I can also listen to the text being read aloud to me.

[00:32:16.000]
And it'll start reading.

[00:32:17.000]
Just a moment here. It says it's loading. There's a few other features under the more button here.

[00:32:23.000]
But it'll start highlighting and reading at the same time.

[00:32:25.000]
Japan to start killing finals.

[00:32:29.000]
In this issue. Wild Times.

[00:32:32.000]
So you can see.

[00:32:33.000]
Japan to start killing finals.

[00:32:34.000]
Let me get to this point. Okay.

[00:32:36.000]
Pause.

[00:32:37.000]
The decision to hunt this vulnerable.

[00:32:38.000]
So you can see it highlights the sentence and the word that it's on.

[00:32:41.000]
Under this more button I have some features under settings. The main features that are used are changing the color.

[00:32:48.000]
If I want to change the color of the text, or the sentence or word color that's being highlighted in, or what's being highlighted, I have those options.

[00:32:57.000]
I also have the automatic scrolling, as you noticed, it was scrolling down there. These are some shortcuts.

[00:33:04.000]
And then I can restore any of my default settings.

[00:33:08.000]
If I close this box out.

[00:33:11.000]
Another feature that I have is the ability to enlarge the text and download as an Mp. 3.

[00:33:16.000]
So in large text, when I turn that on and click play, what happens is.

[00:33:21.000]
Species comes 5 years.

[00:33:22.000]
It pulls this text box onto the page. I can increase or decrease this font size down here.

[00:33:30.000]
And I can continue to play.

[00:33:32.000]
After the country resumed commercial whaling.

[00:33:35.000]
Melissa, Hobson.

[00:33:37.000]
Numbers of the second largest way.

[00:33:39.000]
So you can see a great feature for our listen, tool again. I just enabled.

[00:33:45.000]
Are turned on that enlarge.

[00:33:48.000]
And this is also a feature that will stick with me throughout my session.

[00:33:57.000]
Okay.

[00:33:58.000]
So let's go into. I wanted to talk to you about the accessibility tools within this resource, but also some of the workflow tools. So we have Google Microsoft download or email, download and print. These are quick. Send options here at the top of the document. But let's say, I get down to this point, and I don't want to scroll back up. I have my contextual toolbar that sticks with me or floats down the page.

[00:34:21.000]
I can choose the paper, airplane.

[00:34:24.000]
And I can send to Google drive onedrive email. So same features are available.

[00:34:29.000]
Download and print.

[00:34:31.000]
The consistency across your gale. Resources, not only with tools and features, is huge, but also with the content you're seeing. You're always going to see HTML, and then you also have that download option as a Pdf.

[00:34:44.000]
So you have both features available. It's not one or the other, or maybe both. You always will access a document and access it in HTML, and then have that ability to download also. So consistency is very important. You wanna your users, will know when they come into your Gale resources that they'll always find that content, not only in a user friendly environment, but also that ability to find the content.

[00:35:08.000]
In a certain format every single time.

[00:35:12.000]
Okay, so those are our.

[00:35:14.000]
Ability to send to Google Microsoft email downloaded print if I'm not signed in.

[00:35:21.000]
Which I'm gonna sign in. I did not. So what will happen is.

[00:35:25.000]
It'll take me to. Oh, I'm on my computer. So it remembered me. But it'll take you to a login page to sign in uh, so that your users, if they want to send information, they'll get that login page 1st and then sign in. It's not like they will just send it into space. They will send it in directly to their Google drive or Microsoft onedrive. A folder will be created, titled. Whatever resource they're in. So Gale In context, middle school.

[00:35:50.000]
I'll have that document waiting for me in the gallon context. Middle school folder in my Google drive.

[00:35:57.000]
Okay, let's go into opposing viewpoints. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. I'm happy to stop and answer any questions you have.

[00:36:06.000]
I do have opposing viewpoints already opened here at the top.

[00:36:11.000]
Gonna close out some of these here.

[00:36:13.000]
Okay, so opposing viewpoints.

[00:36:17.000]
Again, hot topics, social issues, controversial issues you're going to find here. Just looking at the home page. You can see now our images are gone, because this is designed more for our high school undergrad, our public library patrons.

[00:36:30.000]
This resources is is designed for them, but we do still see it. Use.

[00:36:34.000]
At the middle school level. So keep that in mind with your home schoolers or those students coming in for homework. Help.

[00:36:40.000]
But it really shows, you know, both sides of the issue, and gives great.

[00:36:45.000]
Content for each of these subjects. And we have so topic pages. But of course, we have just know when you're in your in context, resources.

[00:36:55.000]
The topic. Pages are curated collections of information, of content. But we have more than that available. So there might be a topic. We don't have a topic page on, but we still have content on. It just might be something that either. We don't have. From you all uh, our schools will tell us this is a topic we study all the time, so our content.

[00:37:20.000]
Will work on pulling that content together and putting it into a topic page. So.

[00:37:24.000]
We really do value your feedback. You are all the experts, and we welcome it. So if anything like that ever comes up, or you're feeling like, Hey, it'd be great to have a topic page on this topic because we do this public library programming.

[00:37:38.000]
I can either guide you to one of your in contact resources that has that information or.

[00:37:44.000]
If we don't share it with our.

[00:37:46.000]
Content editors. So keep that in mind.

[00:37:50.000]
Looking at opposing viewpoints.

[00:37:52.000]
If I click into. And I wanted to take a look at. Let me see, we're going to go into. Since we're talking about an election year. Let's talk about voting laws.

[00:38:02.000]
I usually like to go.

[00:38:05.000]
Climate change and global warming. They're probably my favorite. But.

[00:38:08.000]
Change gears. Talk about voting laws again, image and essay overview. We're on a topic page. You can see a lot more content, right? Because we're at a little bit higher level. We have that higher reading levels here, too.

[00:38:21.000]
What is unique about this resource as compared to your other in context, is that you have viewpoint essays.

[00:38:29.000]
So you can see featured viewpoints and viewpoints. Well, what's the difference?

[00:38:33.000]
This featured section in any of your in context resources. So you'll see it in science. You'll see it.

[00:38:40.000]
In environmental studies and biography. The featured section is hand selected information by our content experts, our subject matter specialists.

[00:38:51.000]
So what I love about this is, it shows both sides of the issue.

[00:38:55.000]
It's a great place for students to get started, too. So your users that are coming in.

[00:38:59.000]
The topic pages a great place for them to get started. And also these featured viewpoints, especially if they're not really sure.

[00:39:08.000]
How they're feeling about this topic. Or maybe they're trying to make a decision. Maybe they're writing an argumentative essay uh, then, using that feature viewpoint section can be really helpful.

[00:39:18.000]
Now, viewpoint essays. I want to talk to you about those. So I'm going to go directly into viewpoints.

[00:39:27.000]
And talk to you about our viewpoint essay. So you can see we have the title. We have, some publication information. But right here is the content type.

[00:39:37.000]
Or document type, I should say so. We have all the viewpoint essays, and what's different about them.

[00:39:44.000]
Is, we have an article commentary. So our viewpoint essays have an article commentary. And then, as you read, consider the following, we started also adding critical thinking questions to our documents. Again, we publish our own content. So we're able to do this.

[00:40:01.000]
we started doing that. You'll find it in high school, Gale In Context high School.

[00:40:06.000]
Where we have the.

[00:40:09.000]
Uh critical thinking questions. And I I find them primarily in reference. We started adding them late 2017, and I find them primarily in our reference. Content type. but I do see them sometimes in biographies, too.

[00:40:23.000]
And so you're going to find great critical thinking questions built in, too. So, and other text features not just critical thinking. There'll be vocabulary and fun facts or fast facts, and time some timelines will be there, so you'll find that type of.

[00:40:39.000]
content available with those articles. But our viewpoint essays are unique in that they have.

[00:40:46.000]
Uh these questions to consider so. And you find the.

[00:40:50.000]
Like, I said, the viewpoint essays are in opposing viewpoint, so.

[00:40:55.000]
Keep it simple with the name repeating itself.

[00:40:58.000]
and then you have the article. So it starts with a commentary, and then it goes into the article.

[00:41:06.000]
You also have great explore panels in your in context resources where I can go into additional content. So supplemental information or related subjects.

[00:41:16.000]
And so really keep doing that research, keep reading, continuing, learning. on this topic.

[00:41:25.000]
Alright. Let's go back to our results.

[00:41:29.000]
Something else I want to share with you. You have infographics available.

[00:41:37.000]
This one.

[00:41:40.000]
And these are interactive.

[00:41:43.000]
So, as you can see, I'm getting more information. I can remove.

[00:41:48.000]
If I wanted to remove a feature like State early voting periods at 7 days or less, I could remove that.

[00:41:55.000]
State does not offer voting.

[00:41:57.000]
I could add it all back in.

[00:41:59.000]
Below same thing. if I want. Well, this one doesn't have a lot to remove here. But uh we, this one hack.

[00:42:06.000]
Wow! It has a lot. Usually, I see 2. This one has 4.

[00:42:10.000]
Sometimes I can remove some of these features here if I wanted to like. If you see a graph that has.

[00:42:16.000]
Uh multiple elements. There, then, you can remove some of those features. So it just depends on the graph meaning that, if I have us, you know, section of people that were pulled that really don't have an opinion. I want to remove that from my results. I can do that.

[00:42:33.000]
Okay, so this, these interactive infographics are available in opposing viewpoints.

[00:42:39.000]
So unique, content there with that.

[00:42:41.000]
Let me go back to my voting loss. Topic page.

[00:42:45.000]
So I wanted to share that with you.
Let's see. Oh, all of our audio files have closed captioning.

[00:42:53.000]
Available. So you'll see that closed, captioning feature.

[00:42:57.000]
I click, play audio this and transcripts.

[00:43:00.000]
Some of them open in. We have the video in the screen edition. It looks like we have to go out to them.

[00:43:08.000]
Oh, I'm in audio files. That's fine!

[00:43:10.000]
But they do have transcripts there too.

[00:43:12.000]
Okay, watching watchdogs.

[00:43:15.000]
Here we go, so you can see the closed captioning. I can turn that on or off.

[00:43:19.000]
If I were to click the listen button or translate, it would translate my transcript.

[00:43:25.000]
So that's a feature that you have available, too.

[00:43:31.000]
Okay.

[00:43:32.000]
So we talked about.

[00:43:34.000]
. One more feature I wanted to share with you in this before I jump into our last couple of resources.

[00:43:40.000]
Is the topic finder tool. So topic finder lives in a variety of places. It lives on our homepage.

[00:43:47.000]
At the bottom. So if I wanted to kick off my search, using topic finder here.

[00:43:53.000]
I could.

[00:43:59.000]
And again, visual interactive tool. It's a great search option.

[00:44:04.000]
For all of our users, and you will find this in all of your in context, resources. And, one file, like all your Gale resources, your ebooks, your one file resources. It does not live in elementary, though that's the only place it doesn't live. We have asked.

[00:44:18.000]
the thought processes. It's just.

[00:44:21.000]
That higher level.

[00:44:22.000]
And right now, our users uh that are utilizing Gale In context elementary. They're pointing and clicking. So the topic tree is key to them. They really.

[00:44:32.000]
Our analytics show almost a hundred percent of the time they're pointing and clicking. They're not doing any of these types of searches.

[00:44:38.000]
Uh, so that's where we're at with it. I mean, it may change in the future, but it is available in middle school and high school, and.

[00:44:45.000]
all of your other Gale resources. So it is a visual interactive tool.

[00:44:52.000]
I just select a tile.

[00:44:55.000]
Let's go into temperatures, and then it gives me 16 different results.

[00:45:01.000]
I can go air pollution control. Here's 5 different results. And these could be.

[00:45:06.000]
Articles, or.

[00:45:07.000]
Uh images, audio files. all are available here.

[00:45:13.000]
Let me show you where else it lives. So we were in voting laws.

[00:45:18.000]
So back to that topic page anytime I do a basic search. And I have a topic page related to that term. Search will float that one to the top and it bolts it so it helps me find it.

[00:45:31.000]
It also lives here. So if I wanted to pull in just this curated collection into topic finder, I could.

[00:45:40.000]
And you can see here it's pulling in that search term for me.

[00:45:46.000]
Same process.

[00:45:49.000]
I have all that content.

[00:45:51.000]
Me go back to the previous page.

[00:45:54.000]
The last place it lives. Let's say I've clicked into reference documents.

[00:45:59.000]
I can see it here.

[00:46:01.000]
So if I filter down my content, maybe I'm looking for a specific subject.

[00:46:06.000]
I want voting rights.

[00:46:08.000]
And now I want to use topic finder.

[00:46:11.000]
I can do that too.

[00:46:14.000]
So you can see you can drill down with a couple of clicks and then still come back to this visual tool.

[00:46:21.000]
It's really one of those great features in your.

[00:46:23.000]
All of your Gale resources.

[00:46:25.000]
Okay, let me know if you have any questions on any of those resources. Otherwise let me jump into biography. We have a few more minutes here. So I'm using our product menu.

[00:46:36.000]
Our product. Menu lives.

[00:46:38.000]
And any of your Gale resources. You'll see this in the upper left hand corner.

[00:46:43.000]
You can go to your product menu, and that's how I quickly jump between resources.

[00:46:47.000]
More than likely your users will be accessing from your library website.

[00:46:52.000]
And going directly into a product. Now we do have a tool.

[00:46:56.000]
That's called power. Search.

[00:46:59.000]
So for those researchers that want to look through everything at once, you're in context, your one file resources. We do have power search available.

[00:47:08.000]
Where it lives on the product. Menu is under cross.

[00:47:11.000]
You have power search, and you can see the resources that accesses.

[00:47:15.000]
We'll cover this in our periodical.

[00:47:20.000]
Our periodical session, which is going to be on Thursday, but I did want to point it out that it is available. Most of our K. 12 users.

[00:47:27.000]
Will go directly into product. This is a little bit, it has a lot of content, and it doesn't have those topic pages.

[00:47:35.000]
So well, sort of, not like it does in your in context. So I do like to cover it in our periodicals, because then. when we cover those one file resources, it is a tool that's used there a little bit more with that type of content.

[00:47:49.000]
But it is a cross search tool that you have available.

[00:47:53.000]
Okay.

[00:47:54.000]
I was gonna go into biography real quick.

[00:47:58.000]
So in biography you can see some topics. But what I want to point out here over 5,000 topic pages available.

[00:48:05.000]
What I want to point out here is, you can see some of these topics.

[00:48:10.000]
On the homepage, but.

[00:48:12.000]
When I click browse all.

[00:48:14.000]
I want to share with you. There are so many more.

[00:48:17.000]
So on that homepage. It will change.

[00:48:20.000]
We have. Will our like, I said. Our content editors will change some of this information out.

[00:48:26.000]
So know that that.

[00:48:28.000]
You might not see the same topics on the homepage all the time, because we have so many available. So that's why I always like to share that here. If I were to go into American 1st ladies.

[00:48:41.000]
You can see. It gives me that smaller picture right?

[00:48:44.000]
Of these topic pages I have available. So it helps me drill down.

[00:48:48.000]
Eleanor Roosevelt.

[00:48:50.000]
And you can see image essay overview. We also have quick facts in Gale In context, biography.

[00:48:57.000]
Any primary source. Primary sources are great within this product.

[00:49:01.000]
I also love the primary sources in Gale In Context high school.

[00:49:06.000]
Really great primary sources. There, too.

[00:49:09.000]
Uh again. Feature content. As I mentioned before, what I wanted to share here with you is in images.

[00:49:17.000]
We have some timelines, so we have great images. But also you're going to find.

[00:49:22.000]
Timelines.

[00:49:24.000]
On some of our topic pages.

[00:49:26.000]
Which is always a really helpful tool.

[00:49:29.000]
For our users.

[00:49:32.000]
So great content again organized on these nice topic pages that you can easily use the get link tool to link out to, or if you filtered that content down again, get Link works that, or you can grab a link directly to an individual document like maybe I wanted to share.

[00:49:48.000]
This.

[00:49:49.000]
essay overview. I can use the get link tool, and it takes me directly to that spot.

[00:49:55.000]
I also have the highlights and notes feature where I can highlight a chunk of text by clicking and dragging over it.

[00:50:02.000]
Select, the color.

[00:50:05.000]
I mean, these are just my notes for my paper. I can do this multiple times as many times as I want.

[00:50:11.000]
Throughout this article there's no limit.

[00:50:14.000]
Choose whatever colors I want.

[00:50:19.000]
And what I can do is I can send this.

[00:50:22.000]
So I wanna keep this article. I wanna keep what I've marked up. I can send it to my Google drive onedrive email.

[00:50:28.000]
Or download or print, and it remains marked up.

[00:50:32.000]
Not only that, but these chunks of text with my notes, will live below the citation at the bottom of the page.

[00:50:39.000]
So when I send this to Google drive, it'll turn it into a Google Doc. And then below this citation on my Google, Doc will be those 2 chunks of text and any notes I've taken for each one.

[00:50:50.000]
Since we're down here, source citation is always attached, is defaulted to Mla. 9th edition, but we have Apa and Harvard all available.

[00:50:59.000]
So if I'm sending this and I need Apa, I can quickly come to the bottom here.

[00:51:04.000]
And then change that format.

[00:51:06.000]
And then send this marked up document with the correct citation format directly to my Google. Drive.

[00:51:12.000]
Or download, or print.

[00:51:14.000]
Or email. All those options are available.

[00:51:17.000]
My citation tool here at the top.

[00:51:20.000]
What that does is just gives me the citation. Now I change it to Ap. At the bottom. It remembered that.

[00:51:26.000]
And kept it at Apa.

[00:51:30.000]
Change it back to Mla. 9.th

[00:51:32.000]
I have that I also have options to export just the citation.

[00:51:37.000]
So something else that's happening is my highlights and notes are being built out. So let me go into another article.

[00:51:45.000]
Let's go back to our topic, Page, and let's go into.

[00:51:52.000]
This article.

[00:51:54.000]
And I want to just grab a chunk of text here.

[00:52:00.000]
And this is maybe a quote. I want to use.

[00:52:04.000]
Okay, hopefully, your users add better notes than I do. But for our training, quick training process.

[00:52:10.000]
Now what happens is highlights and notes is being built out.

[00:52:13.000]
So I click into that.

[00:52:15.000]
View all highlights and notes.

[00:52:18.000]
And I'm taken to this page. There is a warning here. Basically, it's saying, please be sure to do something with this information before you leave your session it will not be saved. So if you want to keep this content.

[00:52:30.000]
Then what your users will want to do is come to the highlights and note section and do something with it.

[00:52:36.000]
Send it, send it to their Google drive onedrive email. Print. Same features are available as we had at the document level.

[00:52:44.000]
If I wanted to label these colors I could. Maybe all the purple is, quote.

[00:52:52.000]
This is a fact. You can see. I use some of these a lot and save that, and it creates a legend here.

[00:52:57.000]
And this will go with me.

[00:52:59.000]
To my Google drive. So what happens is as I send this, I have the bibliography attached in Mla 9.th I can change it to Apa.

[00:53:07.000]
I send this to my Google drive. It turns it into a Google Doc. And it's.

[00:53:12.000]
Uh, just these highlighted articles. I like to call them digital notes.

[00:53:17.000]
And I can also, if I wanted to, before I sent it, I can edit my notes.

[00:53:21.000]
Great when you're talking to our younger users about plagiarism or putting information into their own words. Or maybe they're working in a group.

[00:53:29.000]
And.

[00:53:31.000]
They want to add their notes because they're gonna say, share it from their Google drive. They can add in their notes here, or part of your programming. You're working with a colleague, and you are, you know, there's a document or something you want to share. This is a great way to do that, pull that content out. Our researchers absolutely love this feature.

[00:53:51.000]
So again, those you can just send.

[00:53:53.000]
Those digital notes. My best practice is.

[00:53:56.000]
Always send the entire article that you've marked up.

[00:53:58.000]
Because then you have that at least, if you, if your users forget to come in here and do this.

[00:54:03.000]
Then they at least have that full document with everything marked up.

[00:54:07.000]
And then, if they, you know, if they get in that best practice of always coming in every time they've taken any notes or done any highlighting to come here in this section and save this also, they would have both.

[00:54:20.000]
And the nice thing is, too, is that the articles are hyperlinked out. So from my Google drive.

[00:54:25.000]
From that Google, Doc, I can come back to this article.

[00:54:30.000]
It won't be marked up the same. But I could come back there and maybe access some of the supplemental information. So from my Google drive. I can come back into the resource.

[00:54:40.000]
So really great tool and a great connection that we have there.

[00:54:45.000]
Alright. So there was one. I wanted to go into environmental studies, but I'm going to move forward on that one uh. We covered everything I wanted to talk about, as far as your tools and features. I just wanted you to understand that environmental studies you also have looking at content. You also have great case studies available.

[00:55:03.000]
A way to find all those case studies or any particular document types is to use our advanced search tool.

[00:55:10.000]
Advanced search always lives on the homepage next to the basic search.

[00:55:15.000]
But if I wanted to find every case study and I'm not going to put in a topic, I'm just going to click search.

[00:55:21.000]
You can see we have over 8,000 case studies.

[00:55:24.000]
At this point to filter it down, I would use my filter. Your results.

[00:55:29.000]
Either by subject or search, within.

[00:55:32.000]
Or I would have put in a term in advance search before I even clicked into case study. So all I did is go into advanced search.

[00:55:39.000]
Again. I could put in a term here.

[00:55:42.000]
And I selected one of my content types. And that's case. Studies.

[00:55:46.000]
And you can do that in any of your resources where you can filter that content down by document type, in your in context resources. It's a great feature to have.

[00:55:58.000]
Alright. So I'm gonna do the same.

[00:56:01.000]
Format.

[00:56:02.000]
Go into our last resource, and that scaling context.

[00:56:09.000]
And I wanted to just share with you all of the simulations. So the simulations will live in. Let's say, simulations. And those interactive.

[00:56:19.000]
Features. So the interactive models. Remember, I said at the beginning of our session today that Gale interactive science is integrated here also, this is where I can access those interactive.

[00:56:30.000]
Activities. I, of course, can access it through Gale. Interactive science.

[00:56:35.000]
But if I'm in Gale In Context:s know that they're interlinked where I can access those 3D models here also.

[00:56:44.000]
When you see that it means that we have it available.

[00:56:47.000]
Okay. And I wanted to share with you simulations. So.

[00:56:51.000]
Oh, and there's great experiment activities available within this resource.

[00:56:56.000]
So let me go back to. I'm gonna go to advanced search.

[00:57:04.000]
And I'm going to go right to all of our simulations.

[00:57:08.000]
So you can see again experiments.

[00:57:10.000]
I have my simulations here. I can access.

[00:57:15.000]
Click search. I'm not going to put in any term.

[00:57:18.000]
We have 334 of them available.

[00:57:23.000]
And these are different than the interactive activities that you have available in.

[00:57:29.000]
Uh Gale Interactive Science.

[00:57:32.000]
I haven't chose this one. Let's try this one.

[00:57:34.000]
Go, a little rogue here.

[00:57:37.000]
Okay, this looks cool. So it does always help to open the activity here. And that's what this big red box is.

[00:57:44.000]
When I open that activity.

[00:57:48.000]
It gives me information.

[00:57:50.000]
On the left, and on the right.

[00:57:52.000]
I can minimize those. But what I can do is.

[00:57:59.000]
play, my activity.

[00:58:02.000]
Start, okay.

[00:58:04.000]
So it gives me the directions here in the Green Box.

[00:58:14.000]
I can unfreeze so you can see it changes. Look at the difference here. So I'm really it's a.

[00:58:20.000]
It's a simulation that I can interact with.

[00:58:25.000]
Different again than our interactive activities and Gale In Context: Science.

[00:58:31.000]
And then my activity is completed. A lot of these 2 I can change. I can make some changes and then run it again so I can run this experiment, or the simulation multiple times, where I have some control and make some changes. I did not read through all of my directions to follow those.

[00:58:48.000]
But that's something that you can do on a lot of these simulations.

[00:58:56.000]
So again, those are in Gale.

[00:58:58.000]

[00:59:04.000]
Alright! Let me.

[00:59:05.000]
Let me know if you have any questions. We went through a lot of information again. We talked about your in context today. and what all you have available. Let me go back to my Powerpoint and share with you.

[00:59:19.000]
What tools you have available.

[00:59:22.000]
on our Gale support site.

[00:59:30.000]
So again, I shared that link at the beginning of today's session. It's here at the top for those watching the recording where you can access all of your Urls. The proxies are there, those Urls are ready to go. So the easy proxy links have been added. They're ready to go ready for you to add to your library websites. You'll also find title lists and Mark records the database icons, and widgets, and the ability to contact us.

[00:59:55.000]
So looking for support. You want to be up and running here. very soon. You want that support from Gale folks. You have a great customer. Success manager Ellie Evert. She will work with you and make sure that you have a smashing success with your Gale resources.

[01:00:13.000]
In the training center is where you're going to find tip sheets and tutorials. The tutorials are short, 2 to 3 min tutorials. They're on.

[01:00:20.000]
The resources, but also on some of the tools like topic finder or highlights and notes. You're going to find those types of tutorials, our webinars. We have full length webinars. We also have a lot of 15 min to mastery webinars, which are really great, especially if you have folks.

[01:00:37.000]
That. You work within your library that you know right at the reference desk, and you want to give them a really short quick. Okay, this is how this tool works. Or maybe you're doing some Pd planning over the summer utilize what we have available. If you're doing any training, we have training decks available for all of the resources. we also have lesson plans and projects, those ready to go. Student activities.

[01:00:58.000]
Uh for your users. So here are some that we have trading cards and escape rooms.

[01:01:04.000]
here's some highlights and notes. This is on how to use highlights and notes in and in context. And then we also have great marketing materials. But these ready to go activities are great to bring into your programming. They're already done.

[01:01:16.000]
All you have to do is introduce a resource, and then you have that full activity available, and these are just a few to go with your in context resources. We also have scavenger hunts for our in context resources. You'll find a lot of those available there. And, as I mentioned, escape rooms and other student projects. We have a tick toe, I think, activity multiple of those Bingo activity. So lots of great activities to go with your resources.

[01:01:41.000]
And then I mentioned marketing materials, bookmarks, posters, digital assets, any social media posts.

[01:01:47.000]
We have them done every shape and size for you, ready to go. We also have.

We do have other trainings planned for this month, and we will continue uh through the year, adding, probably once a month there'll be a training and might be more focused. These are overview sessions of all of your resources, and then we'll start looking at particular topics.

[01:03:11.000]
That are happening in your public libraries and start focusing on those, and how you can utilize your Gale resources. So lots of support to come.

[01:03:18.000]
And we thank you for taking the time for joining me today for this training session. Any questions that you have, please feel free to ask. I will stay on the line to answer those. Thank you, everyone, and have a great rest of your day.
