Examining Environmental History with Gale Digital Scholar Lab - For Higher Ed Users
The thirteen primary source collections found within Environmental History offer researchers ample opportunities to explore topics like land use, wildlife management, urban development, forestry policy, colonial rule, and legislation that impacted natural preservation. In this session, we’ll review the contents of the archive and discuss the kinds of questions that can be researched using Digital Humanities techniques. Through a demonstration of Gale Digital Scholar Lab, you’ll see how sets of historical documents can be analyzed in minutes using the Named Entity Recognition tool, to extract a list of people, places, and organizations mentioned within.
