For Maine: Support Your Small Business Community with Digital Maine Library Resources

Let’s get down to business – small businesses that is! Your Digital Maine Library resources from Gale offer support for those starting or already operating their own business. In this session, we explored best practices for putting these resources to work in your library and shared ideas for outreach to your small business community.

Gale Business: Entrepreneurship covers all major areas of starting and operating a business including financing, management, marketing, human resources, franchising, accounting and taxes.

Gale LegalForms offers a wide selection of essential state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms that may be customized for the most common legal procedures. Many forms are ideal for supporting legal tasks relevant to business owners, such as filing for copyrights, patents and trademarks, articles of incorporation, licenses, and more.

[00:00:03.000]

[00:00:31.000]
I really like an interactive session. Oh, and Beth, thank you. Good morning. I’m going to go ahead and make you a, panelists so that you can participate in both the chat and the QA with everybody.

[00:00:46.000]
I think right now is an attendee you were only able to send messages to me. So I’m going to go ahead and open that up.

[00:00:54.000]
So, Bath, you feel we have B from the, State Library with us. So back to feel free to jump in, at any time.

[00:01:03.000]
Thanks,.

[00:01:06.000]
So let me go ahead and give you our agenda, which is fairly brief. I collect to keep it straightened to the point, but also This way, you're able to, you know, kind of let me or let you guide me as to what you really want to see.

[00:01:20.000]
So just starting out here, I welcome of course, setting the stage. And the 2 resources we're going to look at, specifically our Gale business entrepreneurship and the legal forms.

[00:01:29.000]
And we of course, you know, good overview of what's available, but then also best practices for putting those resources to use in the library.

[00:01:32.000]
And then also best practices for putting those resources to use in the library. And then we'll wrap up with outreach tools and support that you can take advantage of.

[00:01:44.000]
So, before we dive in, I’m sorry, Beth, I wanted to ask him to put you on the spot.

[00:01:48.000]
You want to say good morning or, or introduce yourself.

[00:01:51.000]
Sure. Good morning, everyone. Thanks for joining us today for this Gale webinar. We hope that this topic and also the topic at 100'clock if you want right be registered for that one too on Shilton's automotive repair will be really high interest for your patrons this summer.

[00:02:08.000]
So, yeah, we do thank you for joining us. We are recording it. So if there's anything you want to revisit or any of your colleagues that couldn't make it this morning, you will be getting a link to that recording afterwards.

[00:02:22.000]
And thank you to Stacy for. For providing session for us today.

[00:02:28.000]
We do it. Thanks, Beth. Alright, so up first, just a quick reminder about, the, resources that come to you through the Digital Maine Library you have quite a few to work with.

[00:02:37.000]
You know, some others that might, be handing this summer books and authors to help find, you know, summer reading, you've got lots of great stuff to help keep up with, what do they call summer slide?

[00:02:51.000]
While the kids are out of school, there's lots of great databases to keep them engaged as well.

[00:02:56.000]
So always good resources here though. We again are going to focus on just a couple in this session.

[00:03:06.000]
And we will take a look first at Gale Business Entrepreneurship. This is a database that is all about supporting a small business.

[00:03:12.000]
We have really kind of run the gamut between starting and operating your business all the way through maybe selling it if that's something you know someone decides to do.

[00:03:25.000]
It's covers all the bases. So how are you going to plan for that business, write a business plan?

[00:03:31.000]
How are you going to fund it? Get it started. And then operate as time goes on. So it's going to head on all of these major areas and it's got a variety of different types of resources to help support you.

[00:03:38.000]
Sample business plans, which are some of the most popular bits of content in the resource, but then also current periodicals, industry journals, things like that to keep up with what's happening.

[00:03:51.000]
Both an entrepreneurship, but just in a variety of small business industries as well. And then encyclopedia type tones, you know, good places to get started to learn about something maybe you're not familiar with like human resources or something like that.

[00:04:06.000]
So lots of good stuff here and then to help supplement as well. You also have Gale Legal forms, which is a great resource both for folks personally, but also professionally.

[00:04:17.000]
There's a lot of great content here for someone who owns and operates a business or is getting one started.

[00:04:24.000]
You have a variety of customizable legal forms. Some are specific to May and others are more national.

[00:04:31.000]
We recently added or and I continue to add forms available in Spanish, but it's a great resource to kind of.

[00:04:40.000]
Save a little money, certainly on legal fees, but also take advantage of some content that's already put together for you, no need to recreate the wheel just kind of fill in the blanks for what you need.

[00:04:48.000]
And it's going to run the gamut from things like contracts as you would expect, but then also just general sample letters and forms and things like that, you take advantage of as well.

[00:05:00.000]
So to give you a little idea before we kind of dive in and look more specifically, I've got a little use case for how you might use these 2 together.

[00:05:05.000]
So let's say we've got a patron who wants to start their own contracting business.

[00:05:12.000]
If we start out and scale business entrepreneurship. We have. Just a quick search on contract and find the sample business.

[00:05:16.000]
And these are business plans from the real world. We've changed the name and the address of the business.

[00:05:27.000]
But other than that, this is a successful business plan. Someone went out and created this and then started their own business.

[00:05:34.000]
So you've got something to model a business plan after if you're writing one. But even if you're not, it kind of gives you a lot of the ins and outs is what it might take to start this type of business and things you want to.

[00:05:42.000]
You know, learn about before you do. There's also lots of recent articles, you know, things about innovations in the industry and different opportunities.

[00:05:48.000]
So the current periodicals really help keep folks up to data and things that are happening in their industries.

[00:06:00.000]
And of course there's lots of other content. These are just a couple of pieces that I chose to pull out.

[00:06:07.000]
And we're going to get in there and explore. But this kind of gives you an idea of what this could, could do.

[00:06:10.000]
We just got a question or these examples, are available on the legal forms. This, the examples on screen right now for real business entrepreneurship, but the next screen is actually going to share an example from Gale Legal forms.

[00:06:25.000]
Advance the slide there. There's so, a search in, the legal forms on home construction.

[00:06:30.000]
We've got lots of specific types of contents for different types of work. So as a contract, or you know, I’m going to have contracts with the folks that I’m working with to build a home or building office building, whatever it may be.

[00:06:41.000]
You can find lots of different contracts in the resource to kind of get that going. And these are all customizable, so I can change them to suit my needs, but I've got something to work from, right?

[00:06:54.000]
I don't have a blind piece of paper in front of me. I can work from these. We've also got along with all of the actual legal forms that are in this resource.

[00:07:00.000]
There are lots of other sources as well. Guides and handbooks are something that the resource contains.

[00:07:05.000]
So something to kind of walk you through the legal issues. And things that may come up, you know, as an entrepreneur, again, this is of course a great resource for personal use as well.

[00:07:16.000]
You can see some other topics there that could be useful. We're getting, again, get in there and look around, but that's one of my favorite things about legal forms is all the support that's there.

[00:07:28.000]
I remember being at the reference desk myself and people coming in looking for basically legal advice and you know person that was not my area of expertise.

[00:07:37.000]
So having something like this to rely on is a really useful place where this is written for. People like me who are not lawyers, but you know, do deal with legal issues.

[00:07:42.000]
So certainly an entrepreneur can take advantage of a lot of content. So we're going to get into these 2 resources and share some examples.

[00:07:54.000]
Again, feel free to use the chat in the QA if there's anything you're looking for.

[00:07:56.000]
Specifically. And I’m happy to, to guide us there. So here on Digital Maine Library, you've got a great way to access all of the resources.

[00:08:09.000]
Some libraries put these links on their own website, some choose to, use this page. However, you get into the resources is great.

[00:08:17.000]
If you do come to the Maine portal here though. We can select subject business and I love the way the resources then adjust and give us the business databases.

[00:08:26.000]
I’m going to jump into entrepreneurship here. So the full name is, business entrepreneurship, but it's a little tedious to say Gale all the time.

[00:08:35.000]
Cause it's in all of our database. Tiles. So we've got it here.

[00:08:39.000]
Now because I’m not in, I’m coming to you from Western New York. I’m actually not able to click on the link and get in like, you've got those great, geo authenticated links.

[00:08:51.000]
So I've done just a little bit of magic. So I've done just a little bit of magic behind the scenes here, to get into the resource and actually, to get into the resource and actually want to make this a little bigger for your end of the webinar.

[00:08:59.000]
So the homepage for most of our databases is really about helping you understand what you found because you know often you're leading your patrons here, but sometimes they're finding it on their own, right?

[00:09:11.000]
So we want them to kind of get an idea of what this resource is. So we do always offer search right away so you can jump right in.

[00:09:16.000]
But if we scroll down a little bit. There's usually a carousel of topics you can pick from here and could be something intriguing to, you know, spark someone's curiosity to dive into, say, financing your business.

[00:09:29.000]
But what I really want to highlight here on the homepage are these 4 categories where we've created some dedicated pages around popular topics in this resource.

[00:09:32.000]
So. Planning for your business, we can link out and do some research on marketing, do some research on budgeting, business plans, funding.

[00:09:46.000]
How are we going to fund this business we want to start, right? So they're different past that self funding, in grants, angel investors.

[00:09:54.000]
Each of these are going to provide, you see, again, we've got some start and manage areas as you select to these, for example, if we go into self funding.

[00:10:03.000]
You get this dedicated page and it always starts with a good overview. So if you think about when you're at the reference desk and you maybe start with a reference title, you know, some ready reference you can pull right off the shelf.

[00:10:15.000]
This is what this article is going to be kind of an overview of what self funding is, you know, very simple to kind of get the idea of it.

[00:10:22.000]
And then as you scroll down, you'll find all of the other resources that are available. So we've got a few business plans here that are highlighted that you sell Fundings.

[00:10:30.000]
You can kind of read about how they did it. Recommended resources for different ways to self fund, crowdfunding, bootstrapping and so on.

[00:10:39.000]
And then directory resources here finding, you know, some other sources to go to kind of see also's, magazines and journals.

[00:10:47.000]
Again, these are going to be those, Industrial, and, and entrepreneurs as well, things like that.

[00:10:54.000]
News articles, newsletters, newsletters, newsletters, news articles, newsletters, use wires, newspapers, and we've got some multimedia, some, use wires, newspapers, and we've got some multimedia, some recommended websites, but it gives you a good idea, some recommended websites, but it gives you a good jumping off point to read about self

[00:11:06.000]
funding. It gives you a good jumping off point to read about self funding. To read about self funding. So these are what we call topic pages.

[00:11:14.000]
You see them in a lot of the. So these are what we call topic pages. You see them in a lot of the Gale resources. So these are what we call topic pages.

[00:11:18.000]
You see them in a lot of the Gale resources. But the homepage, I think, is a good way for folks to kind of get started with their research picking these tools because jump into overviews is a good way to get started.

[00:11:25.000]
But of course, someone might have exactly what they have in mind. They know what they want to research and let's go ahead and try that.

[00:11:33.000]
So. We're seeing certainly during the pandemic, you know, we've seen a real jump in, food delivery, right, in different ways, groceries and meals and things like that.

[00:11:43.000]
Delivery only restaurants have become kind of a thing. You see a lot of them, you know, when you go into different apps and stuff like that.

[00:11:51.000]
So it's a, you know, interesting way to operate. You can have, you know, a different type of kitchen.

[00:11:56.000]
You don't have to pay for the overhead of having space, things like that. So it's time and easy way that, well, not easy starting business, but an interesting way to kind of enter into that industry, right?

[00:12:04.000]
So if we do a search deliver in the restaurants. One of the things I like about a database that's targeted to a subject area is you can do very simple searches and get a lot.

[00:12:16.000]
Of interesting, results back. You can do really simple ones. We're going to try a few more, but the first thing we always start with our business plans.

[00:12:28.000]
This is, again, Content from the real world business plans handbook is a title we publish at Gale and we put out a few volumes every year.

[00:12:34.000]
You have the entire print run in this collection. And again, what we do is look for successful businesses and ask to reprint their business plan.

[00:12:45.000]
So we just change the names and addresses, but this is something someone use. And along with giving a model for if your own business plan, you're seeing what it takes to start this business.

[00:12:58.000]
Again, going back to you don't know what you don't know, this is going to help fill that in.

[00:13:03.000]
So talking about different. Funding, maybe how you're going to hire, how you're going to market, how you should investigate and, see what your competition is, that type of thing.

[00:13:13.000]
You get this really a story of the business. So it's always, of course, useful to have one that's similar to your own type of business, but there are a lot here and.

[00:13:23.000]
I’m going to show you, search, where we can actually browse all of them so you can look at same more recent ones and see what are maybe some new things people are including in business plans, but then you tend to follow a similar format.

[00:13:34.000]
If you look over to the right, there's an article contact. Use the contents. So we can kind of jump around within it.

[00:13:41.000]
So if I’m specifically interested in you know, finance, I can jump right to the financial analysis and move to that part.

[00:13:49.000]
So a lot of these also will have visuals, so it gives you an idea of maybe something you would want to use as well.

[00:13:55.000]
But this is, you know, a good place to get started as I’m starting to, you know.

[00:14:00.000]
Start my business and we've got a lot of different ways you can kind of pull this content out.

[00:14:01.000]
So if I’m starting my business with a partner, I want to share this with them. You'll see in the upper right hand corner.

[00:14:13.000]
We've got a few different ways to get that to them. We you can share out content. These are also handy if you're doing say chat reference or reference over the phone and you want to get this content to your patron.

[00:14:25.000]
You know, we've always of course are going to have a print option, a nice clean print. But again, if we're working kind of electronically, you can always use send to an email, of course, is always available, but really one of the more popular ways to kind of get content into people's hands from these

[00:14:39.000]
resources. Now is to use the cloud sharing tool. So I can actually send this to Google. And you just sign in if you're not already signed into your Google account.

[00:14:50.000]
I should have taken a step here.

[00:14:55.000]
Here before we get started but just takes a minute and immediately I get the notification it was sent to my Google drive.

[00:15:04.000]
Yeah, what's great about this is this now lives in Google Drive. It's my document to do with as I like.

[00:15:11.000]
There's no digital rights management here. Just is in my Google Drive until I need it or want to use it.

[00:15:18.000]
Any goes to a folder named after whatever database you're using, your business entrepreneurship. And there it is.

[00:15:26.000]
And I have all the benefits of Google Drive or of course if I use Microsoft One Drive. So I can share this with my partner and go up and use their share tool.

[00:15:37.000]
I can mark up this document using their comment feature, the highlight feature, make notes. It's my document now and I can get it into the hands of my partner really easily and we can work on it.

[00:15:51.000]
Okay, comment and make notes as needed. So really handy moving to share concept of patrons, but also for them to then work with others on it.

[00:16:00.000]
We're going to see that for every article. Very. Now, our results here, if we can scroll down a bit, we've got some magazine, and, and, you can see up at the top here, it gives you a quick summary.

[00:16:08.000]
But I do want to share with you, we want to buy on the clock, so I want to try some other searches here to share some other content, but those business plans are really, really, really valuable.

[00:16:20.000]
So let me pop back to the whole page. Do you want to quickly show you that search so you can locate all of them.

[00:16:28.000]
So under the browse topic section here on the homepage and topics, if we go into business plans, it's going to take us to a portal for business plans.

[00:16:37.000]
So not only am I going to get actually all of the business plans that are in the data base? They're over 1,100.

[00:16:42.000]
I’m also going to get all of this other content around business plan. So guides for writing that what should be in them.

[00:16:51.000]
And even that's one of the other things I like the periodicals for you can kind of read about maybe what's happening within this plans, innovative ideas, things like that.

[00:16:59.000]
So you get all the support for writing a business plan as well. And what I like to do is if I go into all of the business plans, look at all 1,000.

[00:17:03.000]
148 of them. They sort by newest. So these are most recent ones we've included in our volume so I can jump in and kind of see if there's something, you know, here that maybe wasn't happening, you know, certainly like things like marketing are very different, right?

[00:17:23.000]
You know, 15 years ago. So looking at a more recent plan. Is a great way to get ideas for your own as well.

[00:17:34.000]
So great content there. But this database is not only about, you know, business plan. So I want to find some of the other content here.

[00:17:43.000]
So just in general. One, do a little research into the restaurant industry. Take advantage of the, out there or the searches there.

[00:17:53.000]
Again, great business plan, but let's go ahead and kind of scroll down a bit. The recommended resources again are going to be those reference type.

[00:18:07.000]
The periodic or sorry directories up next are kind of see also as I mentioned before so I can find consultants I can find organizations to join, like associations places where I can go and network and maybe advertise and things like that.

[00:18:18.000]
Lots of great directory resources. Again, the periodicals are really valuable and see certainly on a search like restaurants.

[00:18:28.000]
We've got over a hundred 1,000 hits. If you jump into an entry over on the right, you'll see.

[00:18:36.000]
You can filter these results down. So if I want to get a little more specific with this, we've got something, like subject.

[00:18:44.000]
So maybe I can 0 on these results is kind of a keyword hit right now so I could choose restaurant industry or restaurants, fast food restaurants, food services and so on to kind of 0 in.

[00:18:53.000]
So. This will, you know, still bring back a lot of results in this case. You know, big industry, but that is zeros in and let you be a bit more specific.

[00:19:02.000]
You can also choose things like publication day, publication title. I especially like this, we've got a lot of again industry specific publications here so this is a great way to kind of 0 in on those as well.

[00:19:19.000]
Document type is a good one too. You can. 0 win on things like cover stories, industry overview, that type of thing that, you know, maybe bypass the short little articles that are maybe just like quick news,, things like that.

[00:19:29.000]
So document types are really handy in the matter as well. Now, not only can you, you know, find a lot of content here around.

[00:19:42.000]
You're industry.

[00:19:46.000]
You can investigate things you might be doing. In your business, right? Social media marketing. Again, we've got some business plans where probably they did some social media marketing planning in there, but you've got again a lot of resources around these topics, things like Again, examples.

[00:20:03.000]
Hiring fire. So once you're up and operating or actually even before you got maybe hire some people, but you've got overviews for those types of things as well.

[00:20:09.000]
I really love the reference content here. It's those good over mu type articles. And then again, can follow up with things like the periodicals.

[00:20:21.000]
So. Putting in searches on industries topics are really going to, you know, work well for you here.

[00:20:29.000]
So let me just double check my list. See what else I wanted to show you here. Oh, we hadn't taken a look at.

[00:20:36.000]
In advance search, which just a click away. I always link right there next to the, main search bar, unless of course we're sitting out of answers, which we are, but this just lets you be the boss of your search.

[00:20:46.000]
So you choose the field you want to search in in the database when we use the search up top in the main search bar.

[00:20:56.000]
That's a kind of we call that our basic search. It's kind of a keyword search, but it's got an algorithm behind it to try and help you out a little.

[00:21:01.000]
But it's also trying to bring back, you know, hit so it will, you know, that algorithm does some things to push results to you.

[00:21:11.000]
Here though you can kind of choose. So if I know I want something to be a subject, or I want something to be in the title of the article, I've got those fields here to search.

[00:21:21.000]
I could also 0 line on particular publications, things like that. And then down below you can place all your limits here too.

[00:21:29.000]
So things like date, document type, again, publication title and just 0 in when you're after something specific.

[00:21:35.000]
So let's say I want to find articles about marketing, but specifically ones that mentioned Instagram. Maybe that's where I think I’m going to do my most social media work.

[00:21:45.000]
So. One of the tricks here is if you select the field, you want to search in first. And then start typing.

[00:21:55.000]
What it does is only recommend search terms that have or sorry that are subject settings the only things that will be found so that you know that this is the correct subject.

[00:22:08.000]
So choose marketing. Now again, I want to be sure that this entries, and these results are going to mention Instagram.

[00:22:16.000]
So subject might be a little too narrow. The whole article would really have to heavily have something to do with Instagram.

[00:22:17.000]
If I just want to be sure it's going to be mentioned, I could do something like keyword, which is going to, and you'll notice as you select these fields to the right, it tells you where it searches, keyword searches and kind of the hotspots of every article.

[00:22:34.000]
Citation. Yeah, abstract, subject settings, things like that. But in entire document is going to read every word.

[00:22:42.000]
Out of every single article. It's the biggest search you can do. Most thorough search if you do.

[00:22:48.000]
And let's say, you know, since you're talking about social media changes so fast maybe we only want articles published after, you know, go back a few years, go back to say January first.

[00:22:59.000]
Okay, say 2020. Right, so I can place all these limits on the search as well and really get specific and there we go.

[00:23:08.000]
Now let's say I've done this for a patron, maybe over chat reference maybe over the phone.

[00:23:13.000]
I want to get these results to them. There is no way to send kind of all of this to Google Drive or in an email or anything, but what you can do instead.

[00:23:25.000]
Let's take advantage of our GET link tool here in the upper right hand corner. This is going to give me a persistent URL or that I could paste into our chat reference.

[00:23:37.000]
I could send in an email or, you know, maybe I’m not working on this specific page, maybe I’m putting together a web page or a lip guide or something.

[00:23:46.000]
And I want to put these results to it. This URL can go wherever a URL would normally go.

[00:23:49.000]
So, you know, a website. Again, into an email, into a Word document, maybe I’m compiling to center page or whatever it may be.

[00:23:59.000]
It's just a URL. And what's neat about it here is it will perform that search.

[00:24:04.000]
Every time you click on it, but will have all those limits that you place on it. It forms that search again and again.

[00:24:10.000]
So get link is a really great way to drive people into the resources. And we've got here as a search result, but say there was one particular article I wanted to send to them.

[00:24:21.000]
Get link is there too so I can send. A very brief one. But here, oh, I think it's the chapter heading of one of the books.

[00:24:29.000]
But anyway, the URL here is going to be persistent too. I can share that with them.

[00:24:30.000]
Of course, I've also got the option to email the article and send a Google drive all of that too, but.

[00:24:40.000]
Get link is a really powerful tool in these resources. Well, the patron have to be signed in to be able to access the link.

[00:24:48.000]
You usually not with get link, we do a little magic. And typically, drop people right into the resource.

[00:24:57.000]
You also have the other advantage of the geo authentication in Maine. So usually they do not have to.

[00:25:04.000]
However, technology isn't always as perfect as we would like it to be so they might be prompted to put in a library card number or password or something like that.

[00:25:10.000]
We have these kind of backup authentication methods. So. You might want to have them be prepared for that, but usually it does not.

[00:25:15.000]
We drop you into the search result, the article, and then if they try to go further, if they try to perform their own searches or something, they might be prompted to authenticate, but usually they land right where you want them with just one click.

[00:25:34.000]
Great questions. Thanks. Alright, so that's what I wanted to share with, business entrepreneurship.

[00:25:41.000]
We're going to take a look at the legal form. So. Let me just double check on this.

[00:25:47.000]
Okay, good shape. Alright, so I’m going to quickly again. Jump into the resource of course and find it right on the homepage for Digital Maine Library as well.

[00:25:58.000]
Now with, your, you have a collection of state specific forms for Maine, but then also a big collection of state-specific forms for Maine, but then also a big collection of national forms.

[00:26:08.000]
And these are real legal forms used, and that the attorneys have used. We partner with a company called US Legal Forum to provide this to libraries.

[00:26:13.000]
They sell it commercially like out on the web, I could just go to their website and pay for a subscription to this resource, but.

[00:26:24.000]
Of course, with this being available through. There's a no cost. You know, to the end user, they can use as much as they want.

[00:26:33.000]
But the company that produces this does work with attorneys. To produce all the content that's here so The homepage is again going to give you a search.

[00:26:46.000]
But really, I love the, you know, here on the homepage. We give you ways into the content.

[00:26:53.000]
The browse by main categories to me is kind of like subject settings. You kind of drill down into specific areas.

[00:27:00.000]
You also go ahead some quick searches over on the left for kind of the most popular searches in the resource.

[00:27:05.000]
You can see a lot of this content could be used personally as well. But this is really an excellent resource to kind of push out to your.

[00:27:13.000]
Your users in, in your, small business. So I mentioned earlier, starting the delivery, only restaurant.

[00:27:21.000]
So I’m opening that with a partner. I go right to partnerships. I get to kind of dig deeper.

[00:27:27.000]
So what am I looking for in, in partnerships? Am I looking for agreements, checklists, things like this.

[00:27:34.000]
So not everything is actually legal form. That's one of my favorite features of the resource. It gives me.

[00:27:42.000]
Things to think about as I’m putting together a partnership agreement, right? And with all of the forms, you get a description that is written for me, you know, as a regular person, not a lawyer.

[00:27:52.000]
To understand, basically what this form is about. And then it's usually going to be available in a couple of different formats, word, rich text, but of course with the, So open in here.

[00:28:09.000]
Sober.

[00:28:12.000]
When it's word or rich text or even some of the PDFs, you have, of course, the ability to edit and write on this and do what you need to, you can download it, you know, books are in the library, they can just put it onto a flash drive.

[00:28:25.000]
They're using their own device. Of course, I can save this where they need it.

[00:28:29.000]
But you've got a lot of great content here. So the checklist, sample letters, things like that are really valuable, but also, of course, we need in the database after those legal forms itself.

[00:28:37.000]
So if we pop into agreements. It's going to give me a whole list of different partnership agreements. There are 62 of them.

[00:28:48.000]
And you can see not only are there agreements, you know, kind of for just general partnership, but also.

[00:28:53.000]
Maybe later we're adding a silent partner to a business, an investor, something like that, or we're getting rid of the partnership.

[00:28:58.000]
So we've got a dissolution of partnership. All of these here. To help produce what we need.

[00:29:07.000]
So basic partnership agreement. Again, always going to have this description. Often you have a preview.

[00:29:13.000]
So instead of downloading it right away, you can get eyes on it, see what it looks like.

[00:29:16.000]
See if it's for you. But of course you can also. Dive right in with searches.

[00:29:21.000]
So again, going back to our, contract, for example, you can. Oops. So as a contract, maybe I’m hiring a roofer and this is, you know, something I’m going to need, them to sign.

[00:29:38.000]
I can come in, quick search on roofing and let me point something out here. Apologize, I see our stop time.

[00:29:43.000]
I will wrap up here in just a couple of minutes. Oh, sorry, I want to use my little annotate tool.

[00:29:51.000]
When you do a search or if you come to the browse, regardless of how you come to a result like this.

[00:29:59.000]
When you see forms that have a control number that starts with, that means it was specifically written for use in Maine.

[00:30:08.000]
They will always float to the top of your results list. So even if it's maybe less relevant than a form that starts with US, which are kind of the national forums, the Maine forms will float to the top because we want, of course, that's important, right?

[00:30:18.000]
State laws can vary. So. The forms that go with Maine come to the top of your result list.

[00:30:29.000]
Now the control number other than that really doesn't mean much. It's just a way to, you know, keep track of the forms within the database.

[00:30:35.000]
They have no, they're not like an LCCN or something. Nobody else is going to recognize them, but us and the US Legal Forms folks, but.

[00:30:43.000]
The main thing I wanted to talk about for them is again, the ones that start with ME are going to be specific to me.

[00:30:50.000]
And one of the things we've started to do with this resource is put together packages of forms.

[00:30:51.000]
So Maine roofing contractor package. So this is going to have a few different forms in at least 2, you know, could be I've seen one's link, you know, up to 10 or 15 forms in them.

[00:31:06.000]
So I may not need all of them, but again, I love that we don't know to look for same things, you know, we don't know what we don't know.

[00:31:14.000]
We don't know what to search for if we don't know what we're looking for.

[00:31:15.000]
So I find things here I had maybe thought about. Oh, a job progress. Yeah, that's something that'd be good to keep up.

[00:31:23.000]
Accident report. So you've got this whole package of forms put together. So the last thing I’ll mention again, just because we're tight on time, all of the other support that's here.

[00:31:34.000]
You look over on the left here in this box. It follows you throughout the resource. There's a lot digest.

[00:31:40.000]
There's a legal QA, there's legal life. Kind of getting started type path. These probably actually, let me open that one.

[00:31:49.000]
And yeah, we've got some employment tools or whoops. Sorry. Legal life articles. It's just handy.

[00:31:58.000]
It's great for understanding differently. You got a few things here that apply really great with business people but then also some good personal info it's a good place to get started that kind of advice they may be looking to you for, you can redirect them to these legal life articles.

[00:32:15.000]
So it's kind of a.

[00:32:18.000]
Here's what you have to do if you are going to own a business type thing. So really great, legally.

[00:32:25.000]
Really great. So I've been, helpful extra stuff here, aside from just the legal form, so lots of great support.

[00:32:31.000]
So. Okay, again, sorry, goes running a little behind here. Let me go ahead and pop back to the PowerPoint will wrap up.

[00:32:38.000]
So I mentioned before it's of course a good idea to make sure your business community is understand these resources are available through the library, the Digital Maine Library.

[00:32:48.000]
We've got lots of materials to help you. Kind of support that need. Lots of training materials to let you know how the resources work, of course, are handy, but then also promotional material.

[00:32:59.000]

[00:33:35.000]

[00:34:07.000]
Address here, you get linked up with the person responsible for public libraries in name. So, and work with Kevin, I believe, is our CSM for all of our public libraries in Maine.

[00:34:23.000]

[00:34:30.000]

[00:34:40.000]

[00:34:49.000]
But I will wrap up with a thank you. And you know keep an eye out for more sessions we wanted to do these you know we thought they'd be useful for the summer.

[00:34:57.000]

[00:35:12.000]

[00:35:19.000]
